I do find it amazing that Genocidal88 remains online though and with relatively little spam from outsiders (which I’m trying to fix now). I think channels like that should be brought into the public eye so people know boneheads like that exist in Australia.

What the video consisted of was audio taken from a broadcast by “‘Derrick MacThomas”. MacThomas’s real name is Carl D. Thompson. Thompson is a Queensland-based neo-Nazi who broadcasts on behalf of the US-based ‘National Socialist Movement’ (NSM), the most prominent Hollywood Nazi group in the US. His show is called ‘Australia Calling’, and can be heard via the nsm88radio.com site. This particular broadcast came to my attention as it refers to my own good self, and speculates that I took part in a ‘red terrorist attack’ upon the ‘Australia First Party’ HQ in Tempe, Sydney:

(07/17/09) Marxist terrorists, believed to be associated with the Jewish front race mixing group Fight Dem Back, have attacked the headquarters of the Australia First political party in Sydney. Also, the latest on the plight of our American white brother Hal Turner.

The video also makes explicit reference to — and includes a brief extract from the final speech of — Lord Haw Haw; the Nazi radio broadcaster known to his mum as William Joyce (Joyce was executed by British authorities for treason in 1946).

And yeah: there are literally tens of thousands of neo-Nazi videos on YouTube, some of which not only include images drawn from Nazi death camps, but which explicitly celebrate the Holocaust, and urge its repeat. Here’s one example, ‘Spatter Pattern – Choke – Live at Auschwitz’, by Melbourne-based neo-Nazi skinhead Jesse:

Funnily enough, a man in WA, Simon Charles Barker, was only last week charged with offences under that state’s racial vilification laws for his role in producing a video titled ‘Flubba Bubba Out Da Front’; a brief article on the subject states that YouTube had withdrawn the video, but YouTube still makes it available for viewing on (at least) four other channels, if not more.

More broadly, YouTube is a commercial operation; like any other corporate entity, its main concern is making a profit, and all of their decisions are based on this imperative. Hence, on the one hand, the existence of tens of thousands of videos containing neo-Nazi agit-prop; on the other hand, the company comes down like a ton of bricks on any channel allegedly engaged in copyright violation. Individual complaints are utterly pointless; they will be ignored. The only means of altering the company policy is by way of bad PR, which can only be achieved by way of the mass media.

As for context, the image of the Klan member (‘redneck’) on fire coincides with Thompson’s recounting an article [July 10, 2009] from The Sydney Morning Herald:

On the Friday, there was an article, by the same journalist, in the same newspaper, claiming that the Ku Klux Klan had infiltrated [...] Australia First. Well, the story is fantasy, this Erik Jensen who wrote it is either a drooling incompetent idiot or just a willing sock-puppet bum-boy of the Reds and Jews. I’ll leave you to make up your mind about that.

This is fairly standard fare by Thompson: he’s always getting his frilly Nazi knickers in a twist over something or other.

Now this is somewhat different of course to images of racially based murder posted by racists, obviously sanctioned by YouTube, and designed to promote and encourage hate and murder.

YouTube are as deliberately opaque (dare we use the word “dense”) as Facebook who are equally happy to entertain the rants of racists but who break out in epidemics of OMG Moral Outrage if a nursing mums’ support group shows a baby being breast-fed.
