The recent events in Europe could be classed as an invasion.
Sam: “The recent events in Europe could be classed as an invasion.”
Only by people who don’t use the ordinary definition. The refugees are not an army and are not being sent by a State or any other body with the intention of military conquest. Rather, what we see is the collective result of the decisions of individual people and families seeking a better life for themselves.
For events in Europe to be an invasion, the population movements would have to be the result of a single decision, whether by the migrants themselves or some other body sending them, with the intention of overcoming and defeating the societies which govern the territories they are entering. Rather than attempting to defeat and destroy these societies, however, the refugees are attempting to join them.
Definition of invasion:
…an incursion by a large number of people or things into a place or sphere of activity.
“there was a brief pitch invasion when Sunderland scored”
synonyms: influx, inundation, inrush, rush, flood, torrent, deluge, stream, avalanche
“every year the valley suffers an invasion of cars”
By definition, it’s an invasion.

By Sam’s definition, Flinders St Station would be invaded twice every weekday.
Precisely, A bloke, the European borders are currently being invaded by a foreign group of people who are not of European [descent].
Sam wants to have his semantic cake and eat it too.
My ancestors never invaded Australia, they were brought here against their will, bound in chains to be used as slave labour by imperialists. Some simply because of their religious beliefs or petty crimes.
Trouble is nobody seems to care or find that relevant because of the colour of my skin which I find somewhat discomforting.
But strangely they have no issue labeling myself as a racist because I advocate the maturing of Australia as its own nation, instead of holding on to centuries old prejudices and wrong doings, that do nothing but divide and polarise modern Australians whatever their background or heritage is. And it seems the primary motivations of these types of actions are to tear down institutions that focus on celebrating our diversity and our common future as Australians together in this vast land.
Maybe I should start a cause asking for an apology from British Parliament for the rough treatment my own ancestors that was dealt at from their hands. Which included executions, enslavements, whippings, starvation, forced prostitution, as high as a 30% death rate in transportation. Many for what are termed today as petty crimes.
Or maybe I should go back even further and demand a further apology for when my ancestors were persecuted in England for religious or political beliefs. Maybe the Parliamentarians or the Royalists depending on which side of the family I follow, also owe me an apology for the treatment of my ancestors. I should receive one from both just to be safe.
Or wait, the Normans were responsible for sacking and destroying some of my ancestor’s homes and seizing all of their assets when they conquered England in 1066. I’m scratching my chin with who to demand an apology from for this one but mark my words I deserve one. I might start with the French government as they rule Normandy today. Sounds reasonable…
Or maybe the Italians owe me an apology from when Rome invaded and conquered Britain in AD43. Though I can’t truly confirm that my ancestors were directly impacted by the Roman or the Norman invasion directly or were actually part of a later influx of migrants from Northern Europe into Britain. Or perhaps maybe some were actually Roman or Norman themselves at some point. Regardless, I stand by my right for an apology from Italy for this outrage.
Or maybe the African proto humans need to apologise to the Neanderthals they displaced in primal Europe as they began their colonisation/invasion of Europe…
Mark my words though someone, somewhere owes me an apology and reparations for something and I intend on protesting and vilifying all until I receive it!!!
Oh wait a sec, I think I could be classified into that group that is termed “White”… I guess I must be directly responsible for all of it. Sorry folks my mistake… Forget I mentioned it.
