Anarchist Summer School (Sydney)

Have you heard the latest? Yes you heard right – this February, Anarchist Summer School is coming to a neighbourhood centre near you!

Anarchist Summer School is an educational conference and convergence being organised for Sydney in February, Friday to Sunday, either the 11-13th or 18-20th. The plan is to run three days of workshop and forums on different aspects of anarchist theory and practice. Some current topics that we are keen to see discussed are: classical and modern anarchist theory, autonomous [?] Marxism, the overlap and differences between anarchism and socialism, mutual aid, anarchist influence and involvement in social movements, and different streams of anarchist thought and action.

The organising collective would like to hear your ideas on what you would like to see happen at the convergence, what topics you would be keen to learn about, and to invite you to submit workshops that you can run. You can submit your ideas and workshop plans by emailing AnarchistSummerSchool[at]gmail[dot]com or by visiting the website and submitting a short form. We would also like to invite interested folks to join the organising collective. The collective meets weekly to organise things like venue, program content and workshops, and food.

On the final day of Summer School, we invite anarchist groups and collectives to an assembly on the Anarchist movement in Australia, where groups can exchange ideas and plan new ways of working together in the future.

About @ndy

I live in Melbourne, Australia. I like anarchy. I don't like nazis. I enjoy eating pizza and drinking beer. I barrack for the greatest football team on Earth: Collingwood Magpies. The 2024 premiership's a cakewalk for the good old Collingwood.

I’ll tell you what anarchy is. It’s running and owning a shop on King St Newtown and working my butt off 7 days a week only to find some brainless vandal has put a stupid and irrelevant poster on the front of my shop. This takes my time and effort to scrape it off with a razor and then wash all the glue off. You’d have to be the most ignorant and rude excuses for people I have had the displeasure of coming across.

I can only hope I catch one of your pigs doing it so I can truly introduce them to some physical anarchy.

    Dear Colin Scott JD LLM,

  3. Colin Scott JD LLM says:

What a well thought out reply. There is a village in Upper West Anarchville missing an idiot, I’ll let them know I found you.

  4. @ndy says:

You’re a lawyer, you’re abusive, you’re mistaken, and you’re threatening ‘my pigs’ with violence?

I rest my case, Your Honour.

That’s on of the weirdest threats I’ve ever read. Colin Scott JD LLM, I take it the poster was for the Summer School and not the Aussie Rock tour with Jimmy Barnes and Shannon Noll. Why not contact the organisers and complain? Indulge in a bit of civil dialogue. That kind of shit.
