i am the uncle of michael shields, we had a similar problem in bulgaria in 2005, when michael was taken out of his hotel, and charged with attempted murder, a charge he has always denied, 4yrs later although michael is back in britain he is still serving the 10yr sentence given to him by a corrupt bulgarian system, we are hopeful that michael will be given a queen’s pardon, we too had problems with witnesses changing statements, also people turning up at court claiming they saw michael commit the crime, we later found out they were employed as doormen from clubs run by a top policeman, this is bulgarian justice, it cost us £92,000 to get michael transferred to a british prison, this young man’s family will have to compensate the families of the injured and dead man, i can only suggest the friends and family start fundraising, as he can not be transferred till all fines and lawyers fees are paid, both are subject to interest, and the interest clock has been ticking since his arrest

I’d just like to say, from myself and my pals, that we are so glad that Michael has received the pardon that you have been hoping for. It was a total stitch up from the very start. It’s good to see that true justice has now been done for Michael.
