Tuneful anarchist liberates music

Nick Miller has written a story about A Guy Called Andrew. Nielsen. MC Lars?
Anyway, MC Lars is a bona fide rebel: defiant hairdo, dark complaints about the stifling mainstream and, of course, expensive accessories:
“I’ve got G5 production, concept videos, touring with a notebook, rocking packed shows,” he raps. “The old-school major deal? It makes no sense: indentured servitude, the costs are too immense!”
Lars, aka 23-year-old Stanford University literature graduate Andrew Nielsen, is bypassing the major labels and creating, distributing and marketing his own music.
Unbelievable! Creating, distributing and marketing your own music? Who woulda thunk it?
Piracy will save the music industry, he claims. “It’s going to be a renaissance with music – the 21st century will be fascinating. It will be Darwinian, like the Galapagos with a lot more birds. This is the new information age colliding with big business, and the power is ending up with the consumer.”
Funny, but I coulda sworn I’ve heard that line before…
Nick Miller??
Hah!
Dude, I think you need to obtain some MC Lars music! I can assure you that he has the skillz to pay the billz.
Yeah… maybe i’m being unfair by singling out a Stanford graduate. The road to recovery is sure to be a long and painful one i guess…
“Mad props to MC Lars! He means it maaan!”
Seriously but… judging by his blog — http://mclars.blogspot.com — Lars sounds like a nice enough fella. It’s just that i’ve heard one or another version of this story — ‘Tuneful anarchist liberates music’ / ‘DIY: New! Exciting!’ / ‘Musick industry trembles in terror at young hipster’s righteous (and-commercially-significant) anger’ etc., etc., etc. — oh, i don’t know… a million times or so? And to me, it’s naive at best, and offensive at worst.
Then again, maybe i’m just IN A BAD MOOD.
You, sir, are a player-hater!
I am not particularly concerned with all this TunefulAnarchist/DIY etc. stuff – I am all about appreciating the smooth rhymes.
And sir, these fly rhymes are some of the smoothest.
Might I recommend you d/load the song “Mr. Raven.”

Who’s that (who’s that rapping?)
Who’s that rapping at my chamber door?
Mister!
Mister Raven!
All up in my grill like, “Nevermore.”

RUDIMENTARY PENI LYRICS
\\\”Rotten To The Core\\\”
Have you realised that rock stars,
Always seem to lie so much?
John Lydon once said he cared,
But he never really gave a fuck.
Said he\\\’d use the money he made,
So that people would have somewhere to go.
But now he lives in the USA,
And snorts coke after the show.
Why is it that rock stars
Always seem to lie so much?
Joe Strummer once said he cared,
But he never really gave a fuck.
Said he\\\’d use the money he made,
To set up a radio station,
To make the airwaves full of something more than shit,
Have you noticed we\\\’re still waiting?
You must realise that rock stars,
Always seem to lie so much.
Some will always tell you that they care,
But they don\\\’t really give a fuck.
Still you suckers don\\\’t ever learn,
That rock stars deal in money not truth.
It\\\’s good business to exploit you,
Just look at Lydon or Strummer for proof.
