If you see one movie this year make sure it is &#8216;John Rambo&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>If you didn&#8217;t already know; Rambo is truly the baddest cunt ever.  He is like 1,000 Nintendo power gloves combined.  In the first five minutes he is on screen he catches a cobra with his bare hands and puts it in a sack; catches a fish with a bow and arrow; and smiths some bad ass knife (which will be used later in the movie for eating the fish, of course).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We need to use your boat, Rambo&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Are you bringing any guns?&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Of course not&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;You aren&#8217;t going to change anything&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This was the moment when I knew I was in for a great movie experience and I stood up and cheered and flung my cock back over my shoulder&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>Notes<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>Despite being of draft age during the US \/ Viet Nam War, having been born in 1946, Sly managed to avoid being drafted. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nndb.com\/people\/761\/000023692\/\">one source<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>After high school, Stallone coached women&#8217;s athletics at the American College of Switzerland, and became involved in drama, appearing in a school production of Arthur Miller&#8217;s <em>Death of A Salesman<\/em>. In 1972 he auditioned for a small part in Coppola&#8217;s <em>The Godfather<\/em>, but did not get the role, so Stallone decided he might have better luck as a writer&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The two so-called &#8216;Jihad Sheilas&#8217;, Rabiah Hutchison and Raisah bint Alan Douglas, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/heraldsun\/story\/0,21985,23163281-662,00.html\">say<\/a> they have been tricked by the ABC. They claim they were being interviewed for <em>Australian Story<\/em> but instead they appear in a documentary to be be aired tonight [February 4] titled <em>Jihad Sheilas<\/em>. The women delivered a protest letter to the ABC&#8217;s Sydney headquarters&#8221; on February 4. The ABC <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/heraldsun\/story\/0,21985,23167943-662,00.html\">denies<\/a> the allegation.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, Irfan Yusuf provides some insight on the subject of Islam and Western converts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/news\/opinion\/converts-dangerous-pull-towards-extremism\/2008\/02\/06\/1202233942883.html\">Converts&#8217; dangerous pull towards extremism<\/a><br \/>\nIrfan Yusuf<br \/>\n<em>The Sydney Morning Herald<\/em><br \/>\nFebruary 7, 2008<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This week the ABC screened <em>Jihad Sheilas<\/em>, the story of two Australian women who became caught up in a whirlpool of religious extremism. They were just two among a tiny proportion of a generation of Muslim youths and converts radicalised by people linked to past conflicts in Afghanistan&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So much modern political radicalism in Muslim communities is rooted in contemporary political conflicts in the nominally Muslim world. These often become the centre of spiritual attention for young Muslims with little exposure to mainstream Islamic theology and little understanding of the nuances of the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>However, it would be wrong to generalise about all converts. Islam attracts people from all walks of life. Prominent Australian converts include former diplomats, prominent sportspeople and a former ABC foreign correspondent. People turn to Islam and other non-Christian faiths for any number of reasons. They might feel outcasts in conventional society or disillusioned with aspects of mainstream culture. They might be searching for an alternative lifestyle&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In <em>Rambo III<\/em> (1988), Stallone plays Rambo in Afghanistan:<\/p>\n<p><em>God would have mercy, John Rambo won&#8217;t!<br \/>\nThe first was for himself. The second for his country. This time is for his friend.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul><object width=\"425\" height=\"355\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/1pVDRDREZlk&#038;rel=1\"><\/param><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><\/param><\/object><\/ul>\n<p>Uh-huh.<\/p>\n<p>In reality, <em>Rambo III<\/em> was little more than a propaganda piece for the Reagan Administration&#8217;s proxy war on the Soviet Union. And as is common knowledge, the role of his Government and the US state in arming, training and supplying Afghan <em>mujahideen<\/em> has been well-documented, and the forces which now struggle against US forces in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the world owe Ronald Reagan a debt of gratitude.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty years after <em>Rambo III<\/em>, the film <em>Charlie Wilson&#8217;s War<\/em> comes in for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomdispatch.com\/post\/174877\">similar criticism<\/a>.
