Former FOWF admin Terrie-Anne Verney even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fightdemback.org\/2009\/07\/05\/facebook-racist-gets-the-boot\/\">got the sack<\/a> from her job at community radio station 2MIA for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fightdemback.org\/forum\/viewtopic.php?p=38392#p38392\">vilifiying tripe she posted in the group<\/a>. More unskilled labour for the dole queues while Aussies are displaced on every level of society.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Starr &#8211; ok, same shit, differ[e]nt day&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100000012077534\">Jonathan Paul<\/a> &#8211; I would call it \u201dunderstandable\u201d they are in Indonesian waters and they are showing no respect to the Indonesian authorities, I doubt they will change if they get here.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Townsend &#8211; use bombs instead of bullets!<\/p>\n<p>Mike Him Self &#8211; Nathan with the economy in a shambles bullets work out cheaper (if there [sic] all headshots).<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Townsend &#8211; as long as they don\u2019t miss and end up having to hand out jobs, free health, housing and transport to the bastards.<\/ul>\n<p>&#8230;and yet FOWF remains [sic] online, even as we speak.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook obviously approves of the content on FOWF- or it\u2019d be off their system.<\/p>\n<p>    Groups rile against \u2018Hatebook\u2019<br \/>\n    Joshua Hoey<br \/>\n    November 17, 2009<\/p>\n<p>    Social networking site Facebook has come under pressure to better regulate its content as racist and offensive groups continue to proliferate on the site.<\/p>\n<p>    Facebook has a ban on \u201ccontent that is hateful [and] threatening\u201d and a spokeswoman for the site told brisbanetimes.com.au that there was no place for racism \u201cor any form of hate speech\u201d on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cWe will remove anything of this nature that is reported to us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cFacebook is highly self-regulating, and users can and do report content that they find questionable or offensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    But despite Facebook\u2019s self-regulation, many offensive groups remain on the network.<\/p>\n<p>    Some vilify Indigenous Australians and Muslims, others suggest glassing people is acceptable, and some deny the Holocaust.<\/p>\n<p>    One <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/group.php?gid=104930852776\">anti-Islamic group alone has over 6000 members<\/a> and many groups remain on Facebook long enough for opposition groups to be created in response.<\/p>\n<p>    Race Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes told brisbanetimes.com.au that cyber-racism was an issue that needed to be addressed.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cI don\u2019t think we\u2019re a racist country, but Australia does have pockets of racism, and all of us need to challenge these pockets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    Representatives from Islamic and Jewish peak representative organisations have also called for tighter regulation of online content.<\/p>\n<p>    Islamic High Council of Australia spokesman Mohammed Mehio said Facebook needed to meet its responsibilities of ensuring vilification did not take place on their network.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cIf every time someone turns on Facebook they\u2019re insulted, they\u2019ll go somewhere else,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cIt would be sad if Facebook knew about such content and kept it there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Executive Council of Australian Jewry executive director Peter Wertheim said offensive and racist content should not be available to view on the internet.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cWhere the technical means exist, Australian ISPs should take measures to block such content,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    Mr Wertheim said internet service providers had a \u201cmoral obligation\u201d to block racially vilifying content.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cISPs need to respect Federal Court decisions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    But Electronic Frontiers Australia spokesman Geordie Guy said groups should have the right to express their views, no matter how abhorrent or controversial they might be.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cThe ability to say what you want is a critical and important part of democracy and freedom,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    Mr Guy said that the open discussion of illegal activities, like abortion and euthanasia was \u201ccritical for a healthy democracy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cThe way that we change things is by talking about them. If we\u2019re not allowed to talk about illegal things, how are we going to change anything?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>    \u201cFree speech is a complicated area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>    Offensive pages and groups that achieve a high profile are usually quickly removed from Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>    A page supporting two footballers accused of rape, and the pro-rape \u201cDefine Statutory\u201d group were recently removed after Fairfax Media reported their existence.<\/p>\n<p>    Previous decisions by the Federal Court of Australia have required Australian sources to remove Holocaust-denying material from the internet.<\/p>\n<p>    In February 2007 the Federal Court ordered the Bible Believers Church to remove content from issue 242 of its newsletter which suggested that the Holocaust did not occur.<\/p>\n<p>    In another case in 2002, the Federal Court ordered the Adelaide Institute to remove similar material from its website.<\/p>\n<p>    In both cases the publication of the offending material denying was considered a violation of the <em>Racial Discrimination Act<\/em> of 1975.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><object width=\"445\" height=\"364\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/zsz0DpHdwlI&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;rel=0&#038;color1=0x5d1719&#038;color2=0xcd311b&#038;border=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since the publication of the below, Facebook has apparently &#8212; finally &#8212; told &#8220;Fuck Off We&#8217;re Full&#8221; To Fuck Off.
