{"id":228,"date":"2006-05-29T01:55:06","date_gmt":"2006-05-28T15:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=228"},"modified":"2006-05-30T01:50:06","modified_gmt":"2006-05-29T15:50:06","slug":"polands-chief-rabbi-attacked-on-warsaw-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=228","title":{"rendered":"Poland&#8217;s chief rabbi attacked on Warsaw street"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>WARSAW (Reuters) &#8211; Poland&#8217;s chief rabbi, Michael Schudrich, was attacked in a central Warsaw street on Saturday in what the Interior Ministry said was probably a provocation meant to portray <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/globe\/editorial_opinion\/oped\/articles\/2005\/07\/14\/polish_anti_semitism_on_the_wane\/\">Poland as an anti-Semitic country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[Rather than, say, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nigdywiecej.prh.pl\/english\/index.php\">evidence<\/a><\/a> <\/strong>that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.no-pasaran.org\/dokumente\/antifa_poland\/antifa_leaflet.doc\">Poland<\/a> is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cornellpress.cornell.edu\/cup_detail.taf?ti_id=4298#toc\">an anti-Semitic country<\/a>.]<\/p>\n<p>The attack coincided with a visit to Poland by German-born <a href=\"http:\/\/yad-vashem.org.il\/download\/about_holocaust\/christian_world\/libionka.pdf\">Pope<\/a> Benedict, who was due to pray later on Sunday at the Nazi death camp of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.remember.org\/jacobs\/\">Auschwitz<\/a>, where 1.5 million people, mostly Jews, were killed during World War Two.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Police have yet to apprehend the man responsible. I suggest they search local Internet cafes: his &#8220;friends&#8221; at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=226\">DreamHost<\/a><\/strong> eagerly await his application for webhosting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE <\/strong>: The US Embassy has, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.polskieradio.pl\/polonia\/article.asp?tId=37114&#038;j=2\">according to Radio Polonia<\/a>, &#8220;condemned the attack on Michael Schudrich&#8230; In a special statement Victor Ashe, the American ambassador to Poland has wished the Rabbi a quick return to health and thanked Polish authorities for their effort in establishing the perpetrator of the physical assault&#8230; <strong>He called on all who hold intolerance and anti-Semitism in contempt to unite in countering such practices<\/strong>. Rabbi Schudrich is <strong>a U.S. citizen<\/strong>. He was verbally insulted and attacked by a young man in Warsaw city center.
