{"id":2597,"date":"2009-06-08T23:23:01","date_gmt":"2009-06-08T13:23:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=2597"},"modified":"2009-06-09T02:49:06","modified_gmt":"2009-06-08T16:49:06","slug":"far-left-far-right-far-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=2597","title":{"rendered":"Far left, far right, far out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British Labour Party has had its arse handed to it on a plate for the second time in a week: &#8220;Labour has suffered its worst post-war election result as it was beaten into third place by UKIP and saw the BNP gain its first seats at Brussels&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/uk_news\/politics\/8088133.stm\">BBC, June 8, 2009<\/a>). The Working Families Party <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/shared\/bsp\/hi\/elections\/euro\/09\/html\/ukregion_999999.stm\">secured 2,381,760 votes<\/a> in the Euro election, or 15.7%, down 6.9%, as a result losing five seats (for a winning total of 13). Of 44,173,690 UK citizens registered to vote, only 15,136,932 bothered to show up, just over 1\/3. In Europe as a whole, in addition to the UK, the far right made significant gains in some states, while losing influence in several others (<a href=\"http:\/\/euobserver.com\/9\/28263\">Far right make gains in ten member states<\/a>, Leigh Phillips, EUobserver, June 8, 2009), the election witnessing a record low turn-out of 43%:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In total, the far right is up eight seats on the 2004 European elections.<\/p>\n<p>In Austria, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania and the UK, the far right made moderate to significant advances.<\/p>\n<p>However, the extreme right saw sharp declines in Belgium, and France, and were completely wiped out in Poland.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Presumably, the far right will now proceed to form a fascist bloc in the Parliament, following the abortion (January&#8211;November 2007) that was <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=545\">&#8216;Identity, Tradition, Sovereignty&#8217;<\/a>. To do so, the fascists require 25 members from seven countries to participate. Among those who might qualify are: <em>Freiheitliche Partei \u00d6sterreichs, FP\u00d6<\/em> (Freedom Party of Austria) in Austria (2), <em>\u041d\u0430\u0446\u0438\u043e\u043d\u0430\u043b\u0435\u043d \u0441\u044a\u044e\u0437 \u0410\u0442\u0430\u043a\u0430<\/em> \/ <em>Natsionalen S\u01ceyuz Ataka<\/em> (National Union Attack) in Bulgaria (2), <em>Front national<\/em> (National Front) in France (3), <em>Vlaams Belang<\/em> (Flemish Interest) in Belgium (2), <em>Jobbik<\/em> in Hungary (3), <em>Partij voor de Vrijheid<\/em>, PVV (Party for Freedom) in the Netherlands (4),  <em>Partidul Rom\u00e2nia Mare<\/em>, PRM (Greater Romania Party) in Romania (3), the BNP in the UK (2) and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Oh.<\/p>\n<p>Wait.<\/p>\n<p>In the UK <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=2597#comment-760279\">and Ireland<\/a><\/strong>, the (far) left made a few gains: in Dublin, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialistparty.org.uk\/latest\/7407\">the Socialist Party&#8217;s Joe Higgins<\/a> has been <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/uk_news\/northern_ireland\/8088699.stm\">bumped into Parliament<\/a>, and er&#8230; the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/2\/hi\/uk_news\/politics\/8065391.stm\">Socialist Labour Party<\/a> (Arfur Scargill&#8217;s mob) got a total of 173,115 votes (1.1%), while between them the 8 candidates for the Socialist Party of Great Britain grabbed 4,050 votes.
