The president was caught on tape using an expletive as he described the actions of Hezbollah in attacking Israel.<\/p>\n

They also discussed the exchange of gifts.<\/p>\n

Bush<\/a><\/strong>: Yo, Blair. How are you doing?<\/p>\n

Blair<\/a><\/strong>: I\u2019m just\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: You\u2019re leaving?<\/p>\n

Blair: No, no, no not yet. On this trade thingy\u2026 [indistinct]<\/p>\n

Bush: Yeah, I told that to the man.<\/p>\n

Blair: Are you planning to say that here or not?<\/p>\n

Bush: If you want me to.<\/p>\n

Blair: Well, it\u2019s just that if the discussion arises\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: I just want some movement.<\/p>\n

Blair: Yeah.<\/p>\n

Bush: Yesterday we didn\u2019t see much movement.<\/p>\n

Blair: No, no, it may be that it\u2019s not, it may be that it\u2019s impossible.<\/p>\n

Bush: I am prepared to say it.<\/p>\n

Blair: But it\u2019s just I think that we need to be an opposition\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: Who is introducing the trade?<\/p>\n

Blair: Angela [Merkel, the German Chancellor].<\/p>\n

Bush: Tell her to call \u2018em.<\/p>\n

Blair: Yes.<\/p>\n

Bush: Tell her to put him on, them on the spot. Thanks for the sweater – it\u2019s awfully thoughtful of you.<\/p>\n

Blair: It\u2019s a pleasure.<\/p>\n

Bush: I know you picked it out yourself.<\/p>\n

Blair: Oh absolutely – in fact I knitted it!<\/p>\n

[Laughter]<\/p>\n

Bush: What about Kofi? [Annan] – he seems all right. I don\u2019t like his ceasefire plan. His attitude is basically ceasefire and everything sorts out\u2026 But I think\u2026<\/p>\n

Blair: Yeah, no I think the [indistinct] is really difficult. We can\u2019t stop this unless you get this international business agreed.<\/p>\n

Bush: Yeah.<\/p>\n

Blair: I don\u2019t know what you guys have talked about, but as I say I am perfectly happy to try and see what the lie of the land is, but you need that done quickly because otherwise it will spiral.<\/p>\n

Bush: I think Condi [US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice<\/a><\/em>] is going to go pretty soon.<\/p>\n

Blair: But that\u2019s, that\u2019s, that\u2019s all that matters. But if you\u2026 you see it will take some time to get that together.<\/p>\n

Bush: Yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n

Blair: But at least it gives people\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: It\u2019s a process, I agree. I told her your offer to\u2026<\/p>\n

Blair: Well\u2026 it\u2019s only if I mean\u2026 you know. If she\u2019s got a\u2026, or if she needs the ground prepared as it were\u2026 Because obviously if she goes out she\u2019s got to succeed, if it were, whereas I can go out and just talk.<\/p>\n

Bush: You see the irony is what they need to do is get Syria, to get Hezbollah to stop doing this shit and it\u2019s all over\u2026<\/p>\n

Blair: Dunno\u2026 Syria\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: Why?<\/p>\n

Blair: Because I think this is all part of the same thing\u2026<\/p>\n

Bush: [With mouth full of bread] Yeah.<\/p>\n

Blair: Look – what does he think? He thinks if Lebanon turns out fine. If you get a solution in Israel and Palestine, Iraq goes in the right way.<\/p>\n

Bush: Yeah, yeah, he is sweet.<\/p>\n

Blair: He is honey. And that\u2019s what the whole thing is about. It\u2019s the same with Iraq.<\/p>\n

Bush: I felt like telling Kofi to call, to get on the phone to Assad and make something happen.<\/p>\n

Blair: Yeah.<\/p>\n
