{"id":913,"date":"2007-10-26T00:47:08","date_gmt":"2007-10-25T14:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=913"},"modified":"2007-10-26T02:44:07","modified_gmt":"2007-10-25T16:44:07","slug":"racism-row-over-hiring-of-knights-stadium-by-neo-nazi-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=913","title":{"rendered":"Racism row over hiring (of Knights Stadium by neo-Nazi groups)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/news\/soccer\/racism-row-over-hiring\/2007\/10\/25\/1192941243478.html\">Racism row over hiring<\/a><br \/>\nMario Xureb<br \/>\n<em>The Age<\/em><br \/>\nOctober 26, 2007<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>VICTORIAN soccer bosses have come under fire from anti-racism groups after <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=891\">neo-Nazis hired grounds used by the Melbourne Knights Soccer Club<\/a> to hold <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=725\">a racist rock concert<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the white supremacist Hammerskins and Blood and Honour groups held a concert at Knights Stadium in Sunshine on October 13.<\/p>\n<p>The ground is home to the soccer club and the Melbourne Croatia Social Club, which owns the site and hired out the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-racism campaigners yesterday criticised the Melbourne Knights and Football Federation Victoria for allowing the staging of the concert, which commemorated <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=405\">a dead white supremacist<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-racism campaigner Anthony Main said the concert included overseas white power and local [bonehead] music groups.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s racist music to the extreme, but it&#8217;s also a way for those guys to network and to meet,&#8221; Mr Main said.<\/p>\n<p>He called on Football Federation Victoria to ensure the venues used by its clubs were hired out diligently.<\/p>\n<p>Football Federation Victoria and the Melbourne Knights distanced themselves from the concert, saying they did not book events for the venue.<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne Knights chairman Matt Tomas said the social club operated separately from the soccer club. He apologised for the incident, saying it was regrettable.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Note that there were apparently four bands performing on the night of the gig, three Australian, and one from the United States. The three Australian bands performing were Bail Up!, Fortress and Quick and the Dead. The band from the US (Orange County, California) was Final War. Here&#8217;s a sample of their lyrics:<\/p>\n<ul>Final War &#8211; &#8216;Defenders Of The Reich&#8217;:<\/p>\n<p>Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows<br \/>\nEverything that&#8217;s wonderful is what I feel when we&#8217;re together<br \/>\nBrighter than a lucky penny<br \/>\nWhen you&#8217;re near the rain cloud disappears, dear<br \/>\nAnd I feel so fine just to know that you are mine<\/p>\n<p>My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody!<\/ul>\n<p>Whoops. Sorry. That same year, Final War contributed a song to a compilation CD designed to raise money for <em>Ken Mieske<\/em>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=884\">Portland bonehead<\/a> imprisoned since 1988 for the brutal murder of an Ethiopian immigrant. Note that Portland was the location for the recent <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=868\">Hammerfest<\/a> music festival organised by <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=859\">Hammerkins<\/a> in the US, and which local Australian band <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=676\">Blood Red Eagle<\/a> (Newcastle, NSW) traveled to in order to perform for their Yanqui brothers. Upon discovering that a neo-Nazi gig was taking place at their facilities, the Elks Lodge <a href=\"http:\/\/slackbastard.anarchobase.com\/?p=882\">pulled the plug<\/a> on the gig.
