About @ndy

I live in Melbourne, Australia. I like anarchy. I don't like nazis. I enjoy eating pizza and drinking beer. I barrack for the greatest football team on Earth: Collingwood Magpies. The 2024 premiership's a cakewalk for the good old Collingwood.

I know that there has been police brutality and awful repression at the Occupy Oakland protest, see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u49U_jzn6GQ I mean, the hypocrisy of the whole situation is that the guy with a bloody face (shot with a tear canister) is an Iraq war vet who has survived two tours, yet sustained his greatest injuries by utilising his right to free assembly in ‘democratic’ America- so much for supporting the troops- but does it really justify acting like tools, see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zz22OvY6FTY I mean, when you’ve got anarchists pushing other protesters out of the way so they can smash things, how is this not counter-productive? I understand their rage, and there has always been an element of violence in social struggles- but surely the methods of the general strike itself, along with the occupation of workplaces, neighbourhoods, and the springing up of popular assemblies which then co-ordinate nationally/internationally is a far greater threat to the capitalist state and international capital than a few broken windows?
