Left, right, left, right : token 2025 Australian federal election effortpost

Might as well, because …

… underneath the big top, it is, election time again. And, as usual, there’s no shortage of eggsperts, partisans and pollsters to pay attention to (or to ignore). In any case, I thought I’d note that there’s a few points of interest inre (minor) candidates running for a seat.

For socialists, sadly, the Socialist Equality Party failed to qualify for federal registration — and so cannot run/jog/walk under that banner — but a few are having a crack nonetheless. In addition, the Socialist Alliance is running candidates in NSW, QLD, VIC and WA, while in VIC the Victorian Socialists are also in the mix. Oh, and AFAIK, the ACP, CPA and CPA (ML) are out of the race on May 3 and while the Communist League declared Robert Aiken as their candidate for the Senate … ah … I can find no confirmation of this on the AEC website.

Oh and (Dr) Joe Toscano is running in Flinders.

On the (far) right, (Dr) Jim Saleam (Australia First) is Independently losing in Lindsay; PHONy is fielding numerous other bizarr0s; the La Rouchites are running as Citizens and billionaire Clive Palmer is throwing countless millions trumpeting nobodies in a range of seats across Australian real estate. In addition, Great Australian and ex-PHONy Rod Culleton is running (along with a handful of other Great Ones), while (Senator) Gerard Rennick is hoping to keep his seat in the senate and putting People &/Or Property First in a range of others (Upper and Lower).
