Yeah Nah Pasaran! #101 w Haley McEwen on Africa, anti-gender politics & colonialism : January 27, 2022

[hAppY #STRAYA dAy!]

On this week’s episode of Yeah Nah Pasaran! on 3CR we talk to Dr Haley McEwen, Fellow at the Center for Analysis of the Radical Right, Research Coordinator at the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies and Associate Editor of the International Journal for Critical Diversity Studies. We spoke to Haley about the Christian right’s efforts to promote ‘family values’ (sic) in Africa, colonialism, history and the gendered and racialised social order.

Dr. McEwen’s research takes a decolonial approach to understanding the ‘knowledge politics’ that inform ways of knowing gender and sexuality diversity locally, regionally, and globally. Her research takes critical historical and geopolitical approaches to analysis of epistemologies of difference, particularly in relation to constructions of gender, sexuality, and race. Her doctoral, and ongoing research, focuses on international anti-gender activism with a particular focus on the growth of the pro-family movement in African contexts.
