Ooh Aah : Kyle Sandilands is ace!

Update : NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Kyle sacked as Idol judge, Michael Idato, The Age, August 3, 2009: “The Ten Network has sacked Kyle Sandilands as a judge on Australian Idol…”

Update : NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Kyle and Jackie O suspended indefinitely, The Age (AAP), August 3, 2009: “The Kyle and Jackie O radio show has been suspended indefinitely after last week’s lie detector stunt, with host Kyle Sandilands declaring he is unable to go on air…”

Update : Pointyheads complain. Call to axe radio show over stunt, Carolyn Webb, The Age, July 31, 2009: “A GROUP of 15 high-profile psychologists, academics and child advocates have called for the axing of an FM radio show that interviewed a 14-year-old about her sex life. It’s Scandal’Us!

Girl, 14: ‘‘I’ve already told you the story about this … and don’t look at me and smile because it’s not funny.’’ After a pause, she shouted: ‘‘Oh OK … I got raped when I was 12.’’

Kyle Sandilands: ‘‘Right. And is that the only experience you’ve had?’’

Over fine wine everything from car spaces and life coaches to catsitters and wardrobe budgets are being discussed. The networks will do whatever it takes to get the likes of Kyle Sandilands (who conveniently let it slip in the press he had signed with the Hollywood superagency William Morris and was pursuing US opportunities during his contract renegotiation), Jackie O and Ray Hadley to sign on the dotted line.

Sandilands and Jackie O command salaries north of $1 million each. However, their successful show generates many tens of millions of dollars more in advertising revenue for their employer, Austereo. Reports of Sandilands, who has already been given a gold microphone at the station, missing in action in Hollywood are the sort of thing to get Austereo’s execs sweating – a lot. ~ Knives are out at contract time, Andrew Hornery, The Age, July 4, 2009

An Australian social media expert who accused Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O of artificially pumping up their popularity on Twitter says the outspoken radio presenter threatened to sue him.

Leon Hill, chief executive of social media marketing company uSocial, was quoted in news reports calling the radio duo “Twitter wankers” after their following on the site increased by 30,000 in 18 hours. They now have over 220,000 followers.

Hill claimed most of the people following the 2Day FM presenters’ Twitter account were fake and that they were using a script or computer program to “create accounts and then follow their own”.

Sandilands and Jackie O both strenuously denied the claims on their show yesterday morning but Sandilands followed up with a phone call to Hill, who claims he was threatened with “legal action due to slander”. ~ Kyle and Jackie O accused of faking followers on Twitter, Asher Moses, The Sydney Morning Herald, July 7, 2009
