March For White Australia on January 26, 2026

As noted previously, the March For White Australia (M4WA) is scheduled to RETVRN on January 26 next year. So too, the National Socialist Network, who’ve declared that January 26 will also be their next Big Day Out.

(Speaking of ‘a book about a fuckload of massacres’ (Trials), see : The Australian Wars: The truth about the bloody battles fought to establish the nation, Rachel Perkins, Stephen Gapps, Mina Murray and Henry Reynolds (eds), Allen & Unwin, 2025.)

A national public holiday since 1994, called ‘Australia Day’ since 1935, January 26 celebrates the arrival of The First Fleet, the start of British colonialism, and the declaration of Gadigal lands (and pretty much the island continent as a whole) the property of the Crown: at that time, a bloke called George III, the eldest son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha.

Three cheers and a loud “huzzah”!

It’s been some little while since local flagwits have made a determined effort to rally in Naarm/Melbourne on January 26, with the organiser of the October 19 M4WA Matt Trihey, NSN members and other white nationalists having a smol assembly this year at Melbourne Park. Otherwise, in recent years, members of the NSN have picked up on the efforts of the defunct racist gang the True Blue Crew (TBC: remember those fellas?) et al and targeted council ceremonies for minor disruption: for example, in 2023, the neo-Nazis attempted to disrupt an Indigenous mourning ceremony at Coburg Town Hall.

Of course, in 2025, having witnessed some growth in numbers and protected by both thousands of flagwits and Victoria Police, on August 31 the NSN drove the point home by (allegedly — *cough*) attacking Indigenous women at the sacred site at Camp Sovereignty: at least 15 of the brave ANZACs, including NSN fuehrer Tom Sewell, are currently facing charges over the assault (though federal police have as yet declined to investigate it as a ‘hate crime’).

Prior to this, in 2020, a few dozen Proud Boys assembled at Flinders Street station wearing merch inscribed with the slogan ‘Governor Arthur Phillip did nothing wrong’; another, larger racist gathering occurred in 2018, when Kane Miller and the methgoblins of the TBC assembled in *checks notes* St Kilda.

In general, then, while tens of thousands can reasonably be expected to rally and march in the CBD in favour of Indigenous rights, the date almost invariably witnesses a handful of flagwits out to troll IRL. The occasion is also almost irresistible to serial pests like Avi Yemini and other right-wing binfluencers, and any argy-bargy resulting from their stoopid interventions is catnip to Boomerwaffen and tabloid media. So, my normal advice would be to isolate and ignore these parasites. Further, for their empty heads to be accompanied at the end of the day by empty hand-held cameras. But who knows if the flagwits from August and October will respond to the call by Sydney M4WA organiser Bec Walker and Melbourne organiser Matt Trihey to descend on January 26?

Finally, here’s a few more bits and pieces from Teh Left on M4WA:

‘March for Australia’ a rotten rightwing bloc, Labour Tribune, September 28, 2025 [ALP].
Australian protests against fascism and the far-right, wsws, October 20, 2025 [SEP].
Cops huff and media puff—we need to defend the right to protest in Melbourne, Anneke Demanuele, Red Flag, October 25, 2025 [SAlt].
Anti-racists counter March for Australia’s second round, Luke Ottavi, Solidarity, October 29, 2025.
