About @ndy

I live in Melbourne, Australia. I like anarchy. I don't like nazis. I enjoy eating pizza and drinking beer. I barrack for the greatest football team on Earth: Collingwood Magpies. The 2024 premiership's a cakewalk for the good old Collingwood.

When I rang the club and spoke to the manager Kerry about the Forum she said “It’s all over. It’s been dealt with.” When I asked her “How had it been dealt with?” she said that I would have to speak to the CEO Danny FitzGerald on Monday to find out. Any one else know what is happening there?

  2. @ndy says:

My understanding is that the event was cut short at Petersham. Presumably, the relevant authority (CEO) will release a press statement on Monday explaining what happened. The Forum proceeds today at The Bunker.

    Where’s The Bunker Andy?

  4. @ndy says:

    725 Princes Highway, Tempe.

They remind me of the Illinois Nazis in ‘The Blues Brothers’.

“I hate Illinois Nazis” – Belushi.

I spoke to Danny FitzGerald at the RSL today about the little weekend fascio-nazi-fest. He said that he had no idea what the room had been booked for until it was underway. If he had been informed before hand he would not have permitted them entry as he does not support such ideology nor wants his staff or members subjected to these people. He was informed by the local constabulary that it would be wiser to let it proceed than to have the fascists removed from the premises. The CEO believed that there were legal grounds to remove them but it seems that the blue boys didn’t want to do that. Danny FitzGerald was also concerned for the safety and welfare of his staff and members and he believed that they would not go quietly if forced from the premises. He said the police if they were asked would likely deny that this had been their suggestion. So. Clear as mud. But it did go ahead all week end.

“…he had no idea what the room had been booked for until it was underway.”

Yes: the booking would have likely been made under false pretences. So, presumably, were the bookings at Eastwood RSL (2007) and Bexley RSL (2004).

“He was informed by the local constabulary that it would be wiser to let it proceed than to have the fascists removed from the premises.”

    Standard operating procedure. (Less mess.)

And yeah: Saturday at the RSL; Sunday at The Bunker.

Afaik, and despite the fact that Saleam appeared in a feature-length article in the SMH on Saturday, there has been no media coverage of the event, so it will likely disappear down the memory hole… until next year. That said, I don’t imagine too many RSL members are happy that the Petersham branch allowed a group of fascists to hold a conference on their premises.
