As for the rest…
The Socialist Party’s Steve Jolly done well: 2,395 votes and counting — almost 10% of the total. This is moar than the totals of the five Socialist candidates combined: the Socialist Alliance’s Mitch Cherry (206 votes) in Bellarine, Trent Hawkins (310 votes) in Brunswick, Margarita Windisch (447) in Footscray and Ron Guy (339 votes) in Melton. The Socialist Equality Party’s Peter Byrne ran as an Independent in Broadmeadows and got 578 votes.
There weren’t any candidates from far right party’s running, but a transcendental and/or libertarian fascist did help launch the Sex Party’s campaign, so that’s something I guess.
The state election was pretty boring.
I had high hopes for the Sex Party. I thought they would be all twirling tassels and leather chaps, running candidates with names like F’tang-F’tang Ole Biscuit Barrel. Alas no, all they offered were mildly amusing, Benny Hill-esque double entendres and a couple of anti-authority motherhood statements.
It seems the Sex Party got between two and three percent of the vote in both state and federal elections. I wonder if the porn industry think these numbers are worth the millions spent getting them. Douglas Leitch, the second candidate in the Northern Metropolitan Region, seems to be the brain behind the pinky. I hope he is Victoria’s answer to David Oldfield. Can you imagine the comedy gold!
Also, Lol at Stephan Mayne getting elected. He should add a fruity element to the Council.
They’re heeeeeeeere……
Atheistic Communism triumphed over Christianity!
Satanist Alliance: 1403 votes (0.05%) ~versus~ Christian Party 567 votes (0.02%).
