The United Patriot Front’s Kevin Combes : Rapist jailed

    [Update (November 2, 2025) : Sadly, it seems like the remnants of the UPF — now to be discovered in the ranks of the National Socialist Network (NSN) and its various satellites — have elected not to pass the Stahlhelm around in order to help Mr Combes: not even a Give Send Go! But speaking of the NSN, one of its recent recruits, Nigel Clifford (AKA ‘Stirling Cooper’), has been profiled in An Andrew Tate insider is helping Australian Nazis recruit teens (Sherryn Groch, The Age, November 1, 2025):

    A close friend of misogynist influencer Andrew Tate is part of an aggressive recruitment drive to draw rich and isolated teenagers into the ranks of Australia’s neo-Nazis.

    An investigation by this masthead has found that a key member of the National Socialist Network (NSN) is one of Tate’s close associates – and that the Nazi organisation is now using Tate-style propaganda videos to target vulnerable young men.

    In somewhat related news, the Australian Federal Police have announced (October 29, 2025) the formation of a new taskforce ‘to combat an online criminal network responsible for a range of crimes, including the sadistic exploitation of Australia’s youth’. Further: ‘Members of the network are typically young males from English-speaking countries with common beliefs on violent extremism, nihilism, Nazism, satanism and sadism … In Australia, 59 alleged offenders have been identified as members of this decentralised online crime network.’]

Neo-Nazi bodybuilder/personal trainer Blair Cottrell was once the fuehrer of a fascist grouplet called the ‘United Patriots Front’ (UPF), whose core membership included Kevin Combes of Perth.

Yesterday, Combes was sentenced to ’13½ years in jail for the horrific and terrifying rape of two young women 35 years ago’.

Between 2015–2017, Blair Cottrell’s UPF constituted itself as the political vanguard for the similarly short-lived Muslim-hating protest movement Reclaim Australia; much as Tom Sewell’s National Socialist Network (NSN) now forms the vanguard for the migrant-hating March for (White) Australia (M4WA).

I last examined what became of the UPF’s leadership in May, 2021. A quick update would note that:

• Shermon Burgess briefly converted to Islam before RETVRNing to his embrace of Nazism, and it was while wearing a Totenkopf polo that he led and spoke at the Canberra leg of the M4WA on October 19 to denounce (to some applause) ‘race traitors’ etc.

• Blair Cottrell now works as a personal trainer and otherwise remains a binfluencer who trails along after Sewell’s NSN and Matt Trihey’s National Workers Alliance (NWA); Trihey, once a member of the NSN’s predecessor The Lads Society, was the principal ‘organiser’ of the October 19 M4WA in Melbourne/Naarm.

• After successfully negotiating his various legal difficulties, like Cottrell, Neil Erikson popped up again at the M4WA in Naarm in August.

• Tom Sewell has raced ahead of the rest of the UPF pack, cucked Cottrell for leadership of the neo-Nazi movement, and could now reasonably be considered Australia’s Most Talented Nazi. Currently, he resides at Barwon Prison, awaiting trial over the the attack on the sacred site at Camp Sovereignty in August, the thrilling final chapter of the M4WA in Naarm.

antifa notes (october 30, 2025) : NSN: 1 def. VICPol 0 /// Decoherence Media

It’s been a while. Of late:

Local

• The neo-Nazis had a minor triumph of the swill this week, with the National Socialist Network’s Tom Sewell WINNING! in court after being found Not Guilty for a Mickey Mouse charge of ‘offensive behaviour’ arising from a NSN jackboot parade around Ballarat in December 2023.

Mr Sewell, who repped himself in court, was aided in this endeavour by a local Member of The Public, Mark Doery, who testified that he, for one, was not offended by the spectacle: “It just looked like a bunch of boys in a group, going for a walk. Nothing stood out as offensive to me, but that’s just me.”

Curiously, according to anti-fascist research group The White Rose Society, Mr Doery (above) was not only not offended at the time, but was later inspired to join the NSN in Ballan in early August and to participate with his new (?) chums in the March for White Australia later that month. That said, the prosecution’s case was weak and unlikely to succeed in any event.

• Another NSN member from Queensland, Zachary Mark Makkinga (above), was less fortunate than his Daddy, being found Guilty of a NSN stickering campaign in Milton in Brisbane in February (“Jews, chinks, arabs and blacks f— off”, “conquered not stolen”, “foreign workers today, rapists murderers tomorrow”, “Anzacs died for White Australia. Jews, chinks, arabs and blacks f**k off” and so on: the usual, in other words). This was the second time Mr MaKKKinga amirite has been pinged for playing stoopid games, last time in South Bank in 2023. His stoopid prize on this occasion was six months imprisonment, wholly suspended for a period of 12 months.

• The ‘organisers’ (a term I use loosely) of the ‘March for White Australia’ are going for a threepeat: having Marched in August and again in October, they’ve announced that January 26 — variously known as Australia, Invasion and Survival Day — is another Big Day Out for c00kers, flagwits, white nationalists and neo-Nazis. In the last few years, January 26 has witnessed massive f— off rallies by Indigenous peoples and supporters, so that’ll be interesting. Note also that the NSN has declared that January 26 is their next Big Day Out.

• Decoherence Media is a newly-hatched monitoring project, ‘an independent, journalist-founded nonprofit investigating authoritarian and anti-democratic movements using open-source and data-driven methods’. Its first, three-part investigation is into Rope Culture, another neo-Nazi website by the people who brought you Iron March:

In November 2019, a significant far-right data leak surfaced online in the shape of the SQL database of the notorious neo-Nazi forum, Iron March … But researchers and journalists appear to have missed an insightful cache of information shedding further light on evolving contemporary far-right movements: The original torrent file containing the Iron March database also contained the full web server for the website that hosted Iron March’s electronic magazine (e-zine), “NOOSE.”

TLDR : Iron March was the birthplace (inter alia) of the abortive neo-Nazi grouplet Antipodean Resistance, which later collapsed into the NSN. Jacob Hersant (VIC) was active on the site and a member of AR. Hersant was also recently appointed co-leader of the NSN (along with Jack Eltis (NSW)) while Tom Sewell enjoys a rest at Barwon Prison. There he awaits trial for allegedly leading an assault by NSN members on the sacred site at Camp Sovereignty: the concluding, celebratory chapter of the August March for White Australia. In any case, while the Iron March leak took place in late 2019, the most serious look at the site and its Australian dimensions only took place in September 2025 with Leaked records trace path from overseas Neo-Nazi groups to Australia’s emboldened far-right (Danny Tran and Madi Chwasta, ABC, September 6, 2025).

The second part of the investigation — Uncovered: Identities and tactics behind the neo-Nazi “Rope Culture” web server — nominated Stephen Braddy as one of the zine’s editors, which was nice. As part of Decoherence Media’s article series investigating the leaked web server from the neo-Nazi online magazine Rope Culture, we’re releasing an online data interface for searching through that data, which we’re calling FashyLeaks. Besides Rope Culture, FashyLeaks also contains the Iron March database, featuring many enhancements over the original leaked version (described at the bottom of the article).

Yeah Nah Pasaran #269 w Stanislav Vyskotsky on Anti-Fascism in TrumpLandia : October 30, 2025

This week on Yeah Nah Pasaran! on 3CR, we talk to Stanislav Vyskotsky [Bluesky]. Stas is an ‘old punk, cranky academic, critical sociologist and criminologist and antifa and fascism scholar’. He’s also the author of American Antifa: The Tactics, Culture, and Practice of Militant Antifascism (2020) — about which we spoke to him back in March 2021 — and the forthcoming Antifa: What Everyone Needs to Know (Oxford University Press). In addition, Stas is a member of the Worldwide Antifascism Research Network (WARN), which ‘is an attempt to bring together the international community of researchers on antifascism’. We spoke to Stas about recent developments in anti-fascist movements in North America, the significance of the Trump administration’s declaration of WAR! against anti-fascism, and NSPM-7.

spycops gonna spycop

Tonight (7.45pm AEDT, Thursday, October 23), two women, ‘Ellie’ & ‘Wendy’, are scheduled to give evidence to the UK’s Undercover Policing Inquiry (UCPI). Both were victims of a spycop named James Thomson (AKA ‘James Straven’ & ‘Kevin Crossland’). Ellie & Wendy’s abuse was detailed in December 2020 by Nick Dole in British women thought they’d found boyfriends who shared their beliefs. They were actually undercover police (ABC, December 6, 2020):

Two years ago, Queensland woman ‘Ellie’ got a call that changed her life. It was from her first love, a man named James.

She had met him in 2001 when she was living in London. She was just 21 and he was 33, but that didn’t seem to matter. They were good together.

“We just clicked. He was chatty and a good listener. He was very charming,” Ellie said.

They were together for about a year before James broke it off. He had to move away, but they remained friends.

But in 2018, he phoned her in Australia to make a startling confession: he’d been living a lie. He was an undercover police officer who’d been sent to spy on her and those in her friendship circle.

The Australian connection to the UCPI/spycops scandal extends further to political activist Helen Steel and spycop John Dines (AKA ‘John Barker’). Unmasking the spy cops: how women found the truth about men who tricked them into relationships, Rob Evans, The Guardian, March 5, 2025:

Helen Steel was in her 20s and deeply in love with a man who told her he would “like to spend the rest of his life” with her.

She and John Barker had just moved into a new flat and would share long walks in the countryside, where they hoped to one day buy a cottage using money he had inherited.

“I had never felt this intensity of love for someone before,” she says. “Although we’d had a few small arguments … John and I had been blissfully happy”.

One day he surprised her by suggesting that he wanted children with her. “I was a little startled and asked how many he had in mind,” she says. “Six,” he replied.

But it was all a lie – even his name.

In reality he was an undercover police officer who had been sent to spy on her and her political allies.

In 2016 it was discovered that, from 2010, Dines worked at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security (Charles Sturt University). In 2012, he was mentioned as Assistant Professor, receiving a team award for ‘professional excellence’.

‘Don’t mention Hitler and you’re sweet’ : March For White Australia : October 19, 2025

They’re back!

Following the Smash Hit! (and broken Camp) that was August 19, on Sunday, October 19, the March For White Australia RETVRNS.

Huzzah!

FWIW, the October 19 event follows a similar one on September 13, ‘Australia Unites’, organised by a different mob. Thus, while a nostalgic yearning for a White Australia unites both (overlapping) currents, organisers/promoters are divided on the question of whether or not neo-Nazis should be welcomed. For the September 13 c00kers (‘The People’s Revolution’, ‘Millions March Against Mandatory Vaccinations’, Darren Bergwerf‘s ‘My Place Australia’, Craig Cole‘s ‘Leave Our Kids Alone’ et. al.), the answer was largely ‘No’. Nonetheless, along with Tom Sewell’s nazi gang, the August event — likely, at least partly because it took place ahead of the September assembly — attracted more participants than the September one. Oddly, nepo baby and property developer scion Hugo ‘auspill’ Lennon claims credit for the success of August and what he claims was ‘the largest anti-immigration protest in AUS history’ (tens of thousands marched across his family’s vast property portfolio lol).

Of course, animosity towards migrant workers is a sentiment that can be usefully harnessed by all sorts of political tendencies. Right-wing lobby group Advance, for example.

In any case, much the same grouping responsible for promoting/’organising’ the August events are back for October: principally, Bec ‘Freedom’ Walker and Jesse ‘Q Anon’ Stewart. Joining them are Lawrence McIntyre and, in Melbourne, Matt Trihey of the fascist groupusucule ‘National Workers Alliance’ (NWA). You may remember Matt from such groupings as ‘The Lads Society’ or ‘Women Will Speak’:

The NWA has garnered some minor media attention since its formation in the wake of COVID-19 lockdowns (Matt got slapped by an elderly woman at an election event in April and his Neighbour, Damien Richardson, got into legal trouble for allegedly performing the Nazi salute at a NWA event in September 2024) but otherwise operates in a spirit of collaboration with the National Socialist Network (NSN).

The NSN easily dominated the Marching flagwits in August, especially in Melbourne and Sydney, and October 19 organisers are more than happy for them to again pay the role of patriarch. Unfortunately, the NSN fuehrer, Tom Sewell, remains in prison awaiting charges for the nazi fun & games at Camp Sovereignty, leaving his sidekick Jacob Hersant to issue orders. And, according to Hersant, the NSN will not be attending the October 19 events:

The reasoning behind the decision is fairly straight-forward: the NSN has already gained what it wanted from the flagwits. That said, given the public outcry over the attack on Camp Sovereignty, it’s also possible that, rather than facilitate the NSN’s participation as in August, Victoria Police may attempt to stymie it instead. Which, in turn, would likely result in more legal trouble for da boiz: Hersant is due in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 15, Sewell on November 21, Jimeone Roberts in Ringwood on October 27, and so on.

Presumably, along with hundreds if not thousands of angwy flagwits, binfluencers and very unhappy c00kers, it would make sense for the NSN to send along at least some observers, who knows? Either way, Walker has announced the following locations for October 19:

• Melbourne : Parliament House
• Sydney : Hyde Park
• Brisbane : Emma Miller Place
• Perth : Langley Park
• Adelaide : Light Square
• Canberra : Captain Cook Memorial
• Hobart : Salamanca Gardens

There are also several regional events, my personal favourite being the one meeting at the station car park in Yeppoon.

Note that Sundays in Melbourne mean Palestine solidemos, so police will again be managing at least two assemblies on the day. Much the same applies to Sydney.

Finally, counter-rallies of one sort or another are also being organised: I’ll post details later:

• God Emperor Trump has recently decided to declare WAR! — again — on ‘anti-fascism’.

On last week’s episode of Yeah Nah Pasaran! we spoke to Mark Bray about the declaration. Also worth reading/listening to are What Liberals Get Wrong About Trump’s Executive Order on Antifa (Matthew Whitley, The Intercept, September 27 2025), which argues that ‘Liberals dismiss antifa as just an idea — instead of acting to defend the activists, researchers, and organizers facing persecution’ — which would be nice, different, unusual, even — Hier spricht die Antifa (Bernd Pickert, Stefan Hunglinger and Clarissa Hofmann, TAZ, September 26, 2025), the CrimethInc podcast Safeguarding Our Movements against Repression and The Implications of Trumps War On Antifa (with Moira Meltzer-Cohen) on The Final Straw Radio (September 28, 2025).

Meanwhile, Kristi Noem — the dog-loving Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security — has issued claims via the DHS (September 26) about the arrests of various allegedly ‘antifa-aligned’ and ‘antifa-affiliated’ individuals. The statement makes explicit reference to Rose City Antifa and falsely claims that it ‘illegally doxed ICE officers, publishing their private information and home address online and on public flyers. Individuals associated with Antifa also sent death threats to ICE agents and DHS personnel.’

Speaking of Very Fine and Good People in (‘so-called’!) Australia:

• Grandmas For Refugees 1 def. Jimeone Roberts 0

National Socialist Network (NSN) flunkey Jimeone Roberts had a loss in court Last Thursday, the brave ANZAC having been charged after abusing a small group of elderly women rallying in support of refugees outside Chirnside Park Shopping Centre in February last year (‘He even went so far as to say he hoped the women would be stabbed to death or would have a heart attack that night’). Roberts, who attended the Brisbane iteration of the March for White Australia in August, has a previous conviction for distributing neo-Nazi propaganda, but seemingly escaped penalty for threatening Senator Lidia Thorpe in October 2023. This October, he’ll presumably receive another slap-on-the-wrist for being a very naughty boy. Also in trouble with the law is nazi troll Tylere Baker-Pearce: Man charged with performing Nazi salute at AFL semifinal was former political candidate with history of racist posts (Eden Gillespie, ABC, September 27, 2025).

• March for White Australia Redux: October 19, 2025

White nationalists, c00kers and other 110% dinky-di true-blue patriotik Volk have announced that they’ll be re-assembling on Sunday, October 19, to relive the glories of August 31, when the NSN led thousands of flagwits to declare FOWF. Mildly hampered by the very smol number of Marchers who objected in some fashion to the nazi branding (many of whom attended anti-migrant worker rallies on September 13), the M4WA bRanes trust of Bec Walker and Jesse Stewart have appointed another bizarr0, Lawrence McIntyre, to be the face (‘new official Promoter and Social Media PR Rep’) for the October 19 stoopid.

The role of the NSN (and its sympathisers like Walker & Stewart) in organising August 31 is further elucidated in ‘Don’t mention Hitler and you’re sweet’: The great March for Australia deception (Sherryn Groch and Rachael Dexter, The Age, September 20, 2025), while its aftereffects are examined in Indians in Australia continue to face racist abuse one month on from anti-immigration protests (Angelica Silva, ABC, September 27, 2025) and Alan Gamlen attempts (only partially-successfully, in my view) to explain The perfect storm: Why immigration has become the scapegoat for our age of crisis (Crikey, September 24, 2025).

• Lawyers, guns & money

While resting on remand at MAP, NSN fuehrer Thomas Sewell has appointed Jacob Hersant (VIC) and Jack Eltis (NSW) as temp diktators for the grouplet. Sewell and Hersant previously got into some minor legal difficulties over their participation in a group assault upon some random hikers in May 2021, though the court ruled that this was a ‘non-political’ act of violence. Thus (DPP v Sewell & Hersant):

Although this offending has arisen in part because of your association with the EAM/NSN, that is you were together with members of those groups on a camping weekend, I do not consider the offending to be directly or causally related to your political views. I accept that your offending was reactive in nature to the situation that unfolded on the day. There is no evidence to suggest that it was politically or racially motivated.

Given that the boys had identified the hikers as ‘antifa’ — ‘Two members of the group of six [hikers] heard yelling “ANTIFA” — this was a slightly odd conclusion. Mark is an historian and the author of The Anarchist Inquisition: Assassins, Activists, and Martyrs in Spain & France (Cornell, 2022) and Antifa: The Anti-fascist Handbook (Melville House 2017). We spoke to Mark about The Anarchist Inquisition in April 2022, but in September 2025 we thought it would be a good idea to talk about anti-fascism/’antifa’ — and why it makes Donald Trump cry.
