Anarchy in the font of democracy?

For a second day, the Gold Medal-winning Greek Riot Olympics team is competing on the streets of Athens. And Thessaloniki. And Patras. And Giannena. And Heraklion (Crete). And…

More serious accounts of the activities of people-like-you-what-cause-unrest are available via the After The Greek Riots blog and by way of taxipali of libcom.org (see: Riots and police brutality on first day of Alexandros Grigoropoulos murder anniversary). The Anarchist Federation in the UK has also issued a statement: The Greek December – One year on.

As usual, Greek neo-Nazis and assorted other fascists have been reinforcing the ranks of Greek police in their so far unsuccessful attempts at repressing the rebellions. Leaving aside recent the history of fascist collaboration with the ‘democratic’ state — and the military dictatorship which preceded it — this is presumably their way of paying tribute to their comrade Epaminondas Korkoneas; the policeman accused of killing the 15-year-old Alexis Grigoropoulos on December 6, 2008.

Isn’t that nice?
