On February 14th an antifascist activist was heavily wounded in Moscow by nazi scum. Now he is in hospital in a critical state and needs money for serious treatment.

This St Valentine’s Day sexual minorities of Moscow were planning to have a little procession on one of the central squares of the city. But before the event it was heard that nazi boneheads were planning to ambush the parade. Representatives of sexual minorities rights community called for help from Moscow antifascists.

On the day of the event a big mob of nazis indeed showed up at the place of the procession. But instead of gays and lesbians a crowd of about 50 antifascist skinheads and punks appeared at the square and shooed the nazis away. After this the parade commenced, covered by antifascist activists.

But the nazis managed to regroup and attacked one of the antifascist skinheads, who was cut off from the main force. The guy was beat up and stabbed heavily and ended up in the intensive care unit in hospital.

His life is still in extreme danger now. Doctors say that even at the best he could stay in hospital for several months.

Valentine’s Day in Moscow
@-Infos

Idea to organise a Valentine’s day flash-mob for lesbians and gays was born out spontaneously in one lesbian internet community. Idea was to organise a positive action by showing that lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people feel love just as anyone else, and thus Valentine’s Day is their celebration as well. Idea was that gay and lesbian pairs would walk hand in hand with small rainbow flags from Pushkin Square to Okhotny Ryad. Supporters with any sexual orientation were invited to join the action.

As plan was published openly in the internet, both police and Nazis were well aware of it. Already 2 hours before beginning of the action (announced 7 PM) there were Nazi scouts and three busloads of OMON riot police in the Pushkin Square, ready to beat the shit out from any deviation from the heteronormativity.

Nazis were gathering with little discipline, but heavily armed with chains and knives – before start of the action the went to verbally abuse liberal anti-war picket which takes place in Pushkin Square every Thursday with 10-15 participators.

Anarchists and anti-fascists decided to show support to lgbt people organising the action, and brought in a mob of 50, taking by surprise boneheads who were perhaps not more than 20 and who had expected lgbt to be an easy prey.

March was supposed to start from pedestrian underpass at Pushkin square 19:00, and already five minutes after police was harrassing anti-fascist supporters, so crowd had to move to the side of Tverskaya opposite from the statue. Five minutes more and coppers were there as well, so march had to be finally launched, probably without much of the lgbt people who were not right on time. Eventually there were no more than 10 lgbt activists walking with rainbow flags, remaining crowd of 50 people were anti-fascists and anarchists, some of which were there to support lgbt and others for a confrontation with Nazis. It is possible that some lgbt people were put down by jokes about “faggots” by least politically correct elements of the Antifa, or scared of the outlooks of Antifa which differed a little from that of Nazis, and they did not joined action in the first place.

During march, some antifascists were eager to go after the Nazis, but they were persuaded not to do so as by doing such they would leave those who joined the action to a vulnerable position. Nazis were so heavily outnumbered that they did not even considered attacking the action, which walked freely from Pushkinskaya to Kamergensky Pereulok. There participators dispersed, later day some boneheads had bad luck to meet with the anti-fascists.

This was one of the first attempts to mobilize anti-fascists and anarchists against homophobia in Moscow. There were plenty of problems and disappointing moments, but altogether it may only be judged as a success.

Only after the action participators learned that one of the anti-fascists, a RASH skinhead, was for unknown reasons in other side of the Tverskaya Street and was attacked by 15 Nazis and stabbed several times. Most dangerous wound reached his guts, such wounds are dangerous as they may lead to blood poisoning. He was done an operation and became conscious day after, he is recovering. We do not know currently how much money is needed for his hospital bill, but we already know that it will be a lot.

Another Possible Neo-Nazi Murder in Moscow
UCSJ
February 11, 2008

A security camera recorded the murder of a citizen of Azerbaijan in Moscow, the latest in an almost daily series of attacks on minorities in Russia’s capital, according to a February 10, 2008 report by the news web site Kavkazsky Uzel. Video footage reportedly shows three young men dressed in black approach Rafik Ishaev, engage him in a brief conversation, and then stab him over 15 times, killing him. There was no information in the report indicating that the youths robbed their victim, increasing the likelihood that the murder was a hate crime.

NEO-NAZIS ATTACK ANTI-FASCIST MUSICIANS
UCSJ
February 15, 2008

Neo-Nazis attacked anti-fascist musicians in Bryansk, Russia, according to a February 11 report by the Regions.ru news agency. About seven neo-Nazis ambushed the lead singer of an anti-fascist punk rock band on February 9. The victim suffered a concussion and injuries to his kidneys. Later that day, about 10 neo-Nazis attacked members of another anti-fascist band near the entrance of a nightclub. None of the victims suffered serious injuries.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL SET ON FIRE IN BELARUS
UCSJ
February 15, 2008

For the fourth time since the beginning of 2007, a memorial to the 34,000 Jews the Nazis murdered in Brest, Belarus was vandalized, according to a February 12 report by the Russian Jewish web site Jewish.ru. On February 11, vandals set the flowers surrounding the memorial on fire. Police are said to be investigating. But the head of the local Jewish community, Boris Bruk, is cited in the report as skeptical that they will solve the case, since none of the multiple incidents of antisemitic vandalism over the past several years has led to an arrest. The vandalism incidents are not “acts of hooliganism,” Bruk said, instead, they are the work of a neo-fascist group.

Russian Hate Crime Killed 17 This Year
AP
February 16, 2008

MOSCOW (AP) — Hate crimes in Russia have killed 17 people and injured more than 50 others since the beginning of the year, the Russian human rights group Sova said on Friday.

“This is a lot,” said Sova’s deputy director Galina Kozhevnikova, adding that 11 of the 17 killings were committed in Moscow.

During all of 2007, 67 people were killed and more than 550 were injured across Russia in ethnically motivated attacks, according to Sova’s annual report. The figure represented a 13 percent increase over the previous year, with hate crimes growing increasingly brutal and deadly, the report said.

If the crimes were to continue at the same rate throughout the year, 2008 would see a total of 135 hate killings — double the number recorded in 2007.

Nationalist and neo-Nazi groups mushroomed after the 1991 Soviet collapse as a dramatic economic decline spread social frustration, particularly among the young. Their main targets are the numerous guest workers from impoverished ex-Soviet republics in the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Other victims are students from Africa, visitors from Asian countries, Jews and Russian anti-Nazi activists.

Kozhevnikova said the latest outbreak could be a response to authorities’ recent attempts to get tougher on hate crimes, which have been on the rise across Russia in recent years.

“This is an indication of the organized nature of ethnically motivated attacks,” she said.

Another reason for the outbreak, she said, was this year’s unusually warm winter in Moscow.

Moscow prosecutor’s office said Friday it has recorded 16 crimes on ethnic grounds in the city since the beginning of 2008, RIA Novosti news agency reported.

All the crimes were committed by groups of young people aged between 12 and 19 who attacked their victims from behind with knifes, the agency quoted the prosecutor’s office’s investigative department chief, Valery Spasenykh, as saying.

In the latest incident, one citizen of Tajikistan was stabbed to death and another wounded when they were attacked by five teenagers in Moscow on Thursday night, according to media reports.

Rights activists have said that authorities, who earlier came under criticism for doing little to combat xenophobia, have been making efforts recently to investigate hate crimes more thoroughly and take such cases to court.

Some activists say, however, that the extreme nationalist sentiments are an outgrowth of the Kremlin’s attempts to rebuild a strong state. President Vladimir Putin has publicly condemned the rise of hate crime, xenophobia and neo-Nazism and called on prosecutors to do more to fight extremism.

“Skinheads” Brutally Attack and Stab a “Random” Person
[Incredibly lamearse joke removed]

In St Petersburg, Russia, on October 13, 2004, 20 year old Vietnamese student Vu Ahn Tuan was stabbed to death by a large group of between 15 and 20 Russian boneheads. An autopsy revealed Tuan was stabbed 37 times. Two years later, in October 2006, 17 defendants were found not guilty of any crime, under highly dubious circumstances.

Church of Scientology in Victoria (Australia)

clambake.org, a site highly critical of the Church of Scientology, is down. However, Google cache allows me to re-publish extracts from Chapter 15 of Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard by Russell Miller (Michael Joseph, London, 1987) concerning the cult’s misadventures in Victoria in the 1960s. But first!

LRH goes to Heaven (pp.248–249):

…1963 was one of the few years in which Hubbard did not produce a single book. Instead, he chose to remain at Saint Hill issuing increasingly bizarre proclamations. On 13 March – his fifty-second birthday – he bestowed a general amnesty on his followers, in the fashion of some middle-eastern potentate: ‘Any and all offences of any kind before this date, discovered or undiscovered, are fully and completely forgiven. Directed at Saint Hill, on March the thirteenth, 1963, in the 13th year of Dianetics and Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard.’

The amnesty was followed in May by the foudroyant revelation that Hubbard had twice visited heaven, 43 trillion and 42 trillion years earlier. In a four-page HCO Bulletin – dated 11 May AD 13 (meaning ‘After Dianetics’) – he claimed the first visit had taken place 43,891,832,611,177 years, 344 days, 10 hours, 20 minutes and 40 seconds from 10.02pm Daylight Greenwich Mean Time 9 May 1963. Nit-pickers might have pointed out that ‘Daylight Greenwich Mean Time’ was a term unknown in horology and that, in any case, at 10.02pm on a May evening in Britain it would be dark, but this was a trifling matter compared with what was to come.

The first surprise was that heaven was not a floating island in the sky as everyone imagined, but simply a high place in the mountains of an unnamed planet. Visitors first arrived in a ‘town’ comprising a trolley bus, some building fronts, sidewalks, train tracks, a boarding house, a bistro in a basement and a bank building. Although there seemed to be people around – in the boarding house, for example, there was a guest and a landlady in a kimono, reading a newspaper – Hubbard quickly discovered they were only effigies and probably radioactive, since ‘contact with them hurts’. However, he was able to report he saw ‘no devils or satans’ [perhaps because he was supposed to be in heaven].

The bank was the key point of interest in the town. It was an old-fashioned corner building of granite-like material with a revolving door. Inside, to the left of the door, was a counter and directly opposite was a flight of marble stairs leading to the Pearly Gates! ‘The gates . . . are well done, well built,’ Hubbard wrote. ‘An avenue of statues of saints leads up to them. The gate pillars are surmounted by marble angels. The entering grounds are very well kept, laid out like Bush Gardens in Pasadena, so often seen in the movies.’

On his second visit to heaven, a trillion years later, Hubbard noticed marked changes: ‘The place is shabby. The vegetation is gone. The pillars are scruffy. The saints have vanished. So have the angels. A sign on one side (the left as you “enter”) says “this is Heaven”. The right has a sign “Hell” with an arrow and inside the grounds one can see the excavations like archeological diggings with raw terraces, that lead to “Hell”. Plain wire fencing encloses the place. There is a sentry box beside and outside the right pillar . . .’

Hubbard’s visits to heaven would become something of an embarrassment to Scientologists in future years and they would strive to explain that he had intended his description to be allegory, but Hubbard himself attached a note to the bulletin seeming to deny its contents were allegorical. ‘This HCO Bulletin’, he stressed, ‘is based on over a thousand hours of research auditing . . . It is scientific research and is not in any way based upon the mere opinion of the researcher.

‘The foundation of Victoria consists of the riff-raff of London’s slums – robbers, murderers, prostitutes, fences, thieves – the scourings of Newgate and Bedlam . . . the niceties of truth and fairness, of hearing witnesses and weighing evidence, are not for men whose ancestry is lost in the promiscuity of the prison ships of transportation . . .’

A w e s o m e.

Pp.249–255:

Hubbard’s sensitivity towards newspapers was understandable, since Scientology was an easy target and wherever it flourished it was attacked by a universally unsympathetic press. In Australia, the church had suffered a great deal of unfavourable publicity, in particular from a Melbourne newspaper, Truth, which published a series of hostile features about Scientologists being ‘brainwashed’ and alienated from their families. The media attacks led to questions in the Parliament of Victoria, allegations of blackmail and extortion, and accusations that Scientology was affecting the ‘mental well-being’ of undergraduates at Melbourne University. In November 1963, the Victoria government appointed a Board of Inquiry into Scientology.

At Saint Hill Manor, Hubbard at first professed himself to be pleased about the Australian inquiry and even hinted that it bad been set up at his instigation. But it soon became evident that the inquiry was basically antagonistic to Scientology and when an invitation arrived from Melbourne for him to appear, he contrived to find compelling reasons to refuse…

In October 1965, the Australian Board of Inquiry into Scientology published its report. Conducted by Kevin Anderson QC, the inquiry sat for 160 days, heard evidence from 151 witnesses and then savagely condemned every aspect of Scientology. No one needed to progress beyond the first paragraph to guess at what was to follow:

‘There are some features of Scientology which are so ludicrous that there may be a tendency to regard Scientology as silly and its practitioners as harmless cranks. To do so would be gravely to misunderstand the tenor of the Board’s conclusions. This Report should be read, it is submitted, with these prefatory observations constantly in mind. Scientology is evil; its techniques evil; its practice a serious threat to the community, medically, morally and socially; and its adherents sadly deluded and often mentally ill.’

In many cases, the report continued, mental derangement and a loss of critical faculties resulted from Scientology processing, which tended to produce subservience amounting almost to mental enslavement. Because of fear, delusion and debilitation, the individual often found it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to escape. Furthermore, the potentiality for misuse of confidence was great and the existence of files containing the most intimate secrets and confessions of thousands of individuals was a constant threat to them and a matter of grave concern.

As for L. Ron Hubbard, the report suggested that his sanity was to be ‘gravely doubted’. His writing, abounding in self-glorification and grandiosity, replete with histrionics and hysterical, incontinent outbursts, was the product of a person of unsound mind. His teachings about thetans and past lives were nonsensical; he had a persecution complex; he had a great fear of matters associated with women and a ‘prurient and compulsive urge to write in the most disgusting and derogatory way’ on such subjects as abortions, intercourse, rape, sadism, perversion and abandonment. His propensity for neologisms was commonplace in the schizophrenic and his compulsion to invent increasingly bizarre theories and experiences was strongly indicative of paranoid schizophrenia with delusions of grandeur. ‘Symptoms’, the report added, ‘common to dictators.’

It continued in similar vein for 173 pages, concluding: ‘If there should be detected in this report a note of unrelieved denunciation of Scientology, it is because the evidence has shown its theories to be fantastic and impossible, its principles perverted and ill-founded, and its techniques debased and harmful. Scientology is a delusional belief system, based on fiction and fallacies and propagated by falsehood and deception . . . Its founder, with the merest smattering of knowledge in various sciences, has built upon the scintilla of his learning a crazy and dangerous edifice. The HASI claims to be “the world’s largest mental health organization”. What it really is however, is the world’s largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy.’

It was not difficult to ‘detect’ a note of unrelieved denunciation in the Anderson report; indeed, in its intemperate tone, its use of emotive rhetoric and its tendency to exaggerate and distort, it bore a marked similarity to the writings of L. Ron Hubbard. In his determination to undermine Scientology, Anderson completely ignored the fact that thousands of decent, honest, well-meaning people around the world believed themselves to be benefiting from the movement. To condemn the church as ‘evil’ was to brand its followers as either evil or stupid or both – an undeserved imputation.

Bloodied but unbowed, Hubbard began fighting back against the Anderson report on the day of its publication, beginning with a rebuttal written exclusively for the East Grinstead Courier, accusing the Australian inquiry of being an illegal ‘kangaroo court’ which had refused to allow him to appear in his own defence. Its findings were ‘hysterical’, he said, and not based on the facts. He compared the inquiry to the heresy trials which had led to witches being burned at the stake in the dark ages.

However, Dr Hubbard – described as ‘the son of a Montana cattle baron’ – still found it in his heart to be munificent: ‘Well, Australia is young. In 1942, as the senior US naval officer in Northern Australia, by a fluke of fate, I helped save them from the Japanese. For the sake of Scientologists there, I will go on helping them . . . Socrates said, “Philosophy is the greatest of the arts and it ought to be practiced.” I intend to keep on writing it and practicing it and helping others as I can.’

For his fellow Scientologists, Hubbard had a slightly different message. What had gone wrong in Australia, he explained, was that he had approved co-operation with an inquiry into all mental health services. (‘We could have had a ball and put psychiatry on trial for murder, mercy killing, sterilization, torture and sex practices and could have wiped out psychiatry’s good name.’) Unfortunately, because of bungling somewhere along the line, the inquiry had been narrowed to Scientology only, ‘so it was a mess’.

He laid out the procedure to be followed if there were further official inquiries into Scientology. The first step was to identify the antagonists, next investigate them ‘for felonies or worse’ and then start feeding ‘lurid, blood sex crime actual evidence on the attackers’ to the press. ‘Don’t ever tamely submit to an investigation of us,’ he warned. ‘Make it rough, rough on attackers all the way.’

Hubbard soon showed he was prepared to take the lead. The storm caused by the Anderson report was not merely restricted to ephemeral headlines: it provoked further and continuing media investigation into Scientology and prodded governments into taking punitive measures against the church. The reaction, sociologist Roy Wallis noted, was comparable to an international moral panic: ‘The former conception of the movement as a relatively harmless, if cranky, health and self-improvement cult, was transformed into one which portrayed it as evil, dangerous, a form of hypnosis (with all the overtones of Svengali in the layman’s mind), and brainwashing.’

The Australian government was first to act: in December 1965, the State of Victoria passed the Psychological Practices Act [since superseded] which effectively outlawed Scientology and empowered the Attorney General to seize and destroy all Scientology documents and recordings. Then the country playing host to the ‘evil Dr Hubbard’ could hardly be expected to ignore the Anderson report and on 7 February 1966, Lord Balniel, MP, then chairman of the National Association for Mental Health, stood up in the House of Commons and asked the Minister of Health to initiate an inquiry into Scientology in Britain.

Two days later, Hubbard issued an instruction from Saint Hill Manor: ‘Get a detective on that Lord’s past to unearth the titbits. They’re there.’ On 17 February he set up a ‘Public Investigation Section’ to be staffed by professional private detectives. Its function was to ‘help LRH [Hubbard became known in Scientology by his initials] investigate public matters and individuals which seem to impede human liberty’ and ‘furnish intelligence’. The first private investigator hired to head the section was told to find at least one bad mark (‘a murder, an assault, or a rape’) on every psychiatrist in Britain, starting with Lord Balniel. Unfortunately for Hubbard, the gallant detective promptly scuttled off and sold his story to a Sunday newspaper, creating more unfavourable publicity for Scientology.

Scientology’s ‘official’ reply to the Anderson report was a forty-eight-page document, bound in black and gold, and titled ‘Kangaroo Court. An investigation into the conduct of the Board of Inquiry into Scientology.’ It was hardly designed to win the hearts and minds of the average Australian. ‘Only a society founded by criminals, organized by criminals and devoted to making people criminals, could come to such a conclusion [about Scientology] . . .’ the introduction declared. ‘The foundation of Victoria consists of the riff-raff of London’s slums – robbers, murderers, prostitutes, fences, thieves – the scourings of Newgate and Bedlam . . . the niceties of truth and fairness, of hearing witnesses and weighing evidence, are not for men whose ancestry is lost in the promiscuity of the prison ships of transportation . . .’

After airing the manifold grievances of the church, ‘Kangaroo Court’ returned to its initial theme: ‘The insane attack on Scientology in the State of Victoria, can best be understood if Victoria is seen for what it is – a very primitive community, somewhat barbaric, with a rudimentary knowledge of the physical sciences.’ There followed a defiant quote from L. Ron Hubbard: ‘The future of Scientology in Australia is bright and shiny. We will continue to grow and progress. No vested interests or blackhearted politicians, no matter how much power they seem to ally themselves with, can stop our thoughts or our communications . . . We will be here teaching and listening when our opponents’ names are merely mis-spelled references in a history book of tyranny.’

“Religion undoubtedly surpasses every other human activity in sheer quantity and variety of bullshit. If one considers in addition its role as accomplice of class domination throughout history, it is little wonder that it has brought upon itself the contempt and hatred of ever increasing numbers of people, in particular of revolutionaries…” ~ Ken Knabb, The Realization and Suppression of Religion (1977)

David Duke: Gentleman and Scholar

“The alleged Hitlerite gas chambers and the alleged genocide of the Jews constitute one and the same historical lie, which made possible a gigantic financial-political fraud, the principal beneficiaries of which are the State of Israel and international Zionism, and whose principal victims are the German people — but not their leaders — and the entire Palestinian people.” ~ Robert Faurisson, 1980

Stormfront is back.

Not surprisingly, while it was down, former KKK leaders David Duke and Don Black entertained the White masses with stories of persecution. The basic narrative is: because they speak the truth, they are dangerous; because they are dangerous, they must be suppressed…

“Doctor” David Duke, February 14, 2008:

1) “We have today in Europe and different parts of the world we have literally thousands of people in prison right now right as I speak for simply having different opinions about some aspects of the Second World War… These are men and women who simply argue that… some of these atrocities have been exaggerated, and there have been some serious misconceptions about aspects of the so-called Holocaust…”

Hmmm. Fascinating. Duke then proceeds to name some of these “literally thousands” of people: Wolfgang Fröhlich (Austria); Robert Faurisson (France); Jean-Marie Le Pen (France); David Irving (UK); Germar Rudolf (Germany); and Ernst Zundel (Canada / Germany). Now, I’m no mathematician, but by my calculations, there’s at least another 1,994 people in prison right now right as I write for simply having different opinions about some aspects of the Second World War.

Or: Duke is a lying little weasel. As a further example:

2) “Literally no mainstream media, not one major newspaper in the world editorialised and condemned the jailing of David Irving for instance in Austria or the jailing of Ernst Zundel or the jailing of Germar Rudolf…”

On this point, Duke is right. Well… except that he’s wrong. And a brief search would reveal as much. For example, the editorial in the UK’s The Independent (Free speech, responsibility, and the right to dissent, February 21, 2006) reads:

We would argue, however, that laws restricting free speech are not the way to deal with Holocaust denial. As a historian and a private citizen, Mr Irving is entitled to believe what he pleases, however deluded or unsubstantiated that may be. He should also be able to say what he believes on a public platform. To prosecute Holocaust denial is the start of a slippery slope that ends in the proscription of all dissent. And dissent can be defined as anything which at a particular time displeases those in authority.

Yesterday, Mr Irving astonished the court by announcing that he now accepted the historical fact of the Holocaust, having read the personal papers of Adolf Eichmann. At worst, this was a ploy calculated to minimise his sentence. At best, it showed that the historian – for all his vile opinions – was still scholar enough to be swayed by documentary evidence. As repressive states have shown down the ages, minds are changed not by persecuting those who hold inconvenient views, but by exposing them to experience and to facts.

Ben McIntyre, ‘We can’t deny the deniers’, The Times, February 20, 2006:

Irving’s views are repulsive and wrong. He is a deeply offensive crank, and a litigious one, who has tried to use the libel laws to silence his critics. Five years ago, he sued the American historian, Deborah Lipstadt, after she described him as a Holocaust denier, and lost. In a withering 333-page judgment, Mr Justice Charles Gray described him as an anti-Semite, a racist and a neo-Nazi sympathiser who had “persistently and deliberately misrepresented and manipulated historical evidence”.

Irving’s opinions are indefensible; his right to hold them, however, must be defended. For reasons of both principle and expediency, he should go free. Freedom of speech includes the right to be hopelessly, demonstrably and repeatedly wrong. It is not to be applied selectively, depending on the nature of the speech in question, but universally and consistently. The UN Declaration of Human Rights is unequivocal: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.”

Upon Irving’s release in December 2006, the International Herald Tribune reported:

Even some of Irving’s fiercest foes opposed the decision to jail him. Deborah Lipstadt, a historian at Emory University in Atlanta who won a libel suit filed against her by Irving in 1998, said in an interview, “I don’t believe that history should be adjudicated in a courtroom”.

With regards Ernst Zundel, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (Trial could turn Zundel into neo-Nazi martyr: observer, March 2, 2005) quotes a journalist for the German publication Der Spiegel:

Germany’s plan to try Ernst Zundel on charges of denying the Holocaust and inciting racial hatred is raising fears that it could revive his status among neo-Nazis and turn him into a martyr. A German judge ordered Zundel held in jail after arraigning him on the charges Wednesday, a day after he was deported from Canada. Clemens Hoeges, a senior editor with the German newspaper Der Spiegel, told CBC News that the trial could thrust Zundel and his Holocaust denials back into the spotlight. Hoeges said Zundel was very famous in the fascist movement a decade ago. However, he faded from view as neo-Nazis turned their attention from the Holocaust to focus on issues such as immigration and high unemployment rates. “He will become a figure for them, a sort of martyr,” Hoeges predicted in a telephone interview from Hamburg. Hoeges said Zundel is likely to be convicted on the charges, both criminal offences in Germany. If he’s found guilty, Zundel could face up to three years in prison…

3) “And as you know and I know, both of us, we have a long record… we’ve never been associated with any sort of violence against anyone, or illegal activities against any person…”

Uh-huh.

In December 2002, Duke plead guilty to tax evasion and mail fraud, and was sentenced to fifteen months prison. More importantly, perhaps — except for those gullible followers of Duke’s who had their money fleeced — was Don Black’s involvement in a bizarre attempt, code-named ‘Operation Red Dog’, to stage a military coup in the Dominican Republic in April, 1981. As a result, Black served three years in prison.

My Bloody Valentine

    Saint Valentine

At least three different Saint Valentines, all of them martyrs, are mentioned in the early martyrologies under date of 14 February. One is described as a priest at Rome, another as bishop of Interamna (modern Terni), and these two seem both to have suffered in the second half of the third century and to have been buried on the Flaminian Way, but at different distances from the city. In William of Malmesbury’s time what was known to the ancients as the Flaminian Gate of Rome and is now the Porta del Popolo, was called the Gate of St. Valentine. The name seems to have been taken from a small church dedicated to the saint which was in the immediate neighborhood. Of both these St. Valentines some sort of Acta are preserved but they are of relatively late date and of no historical value. Of the third Saint Valentine, who suffered in Africa with a number of companions, nothing further is known.

“Relations between the Church and the Left have been poisoned since the Civil War in the 1930s, when Communist and Anarchist irregulars burnt churches and killed thousands of priests. The Spanish Church strongly supported Franco’s Fascist dictatorship and some bishops were even pictured in stiff-armed salutes” reads a report in The Times regarding the intervention by the Catholic Church in Spanish politics (Vatican told to stop bishops ‘meddling’ in Spain’s election, February 14, 2008). Which account I’ve read many times before, and occurs in almost all reporting on the Church’s role in the Spanish Civil War and Revolution. Which is odd, as while I’m aware that anarchist militias and other ‘irregulars’ burnt Churches, as well as shot some priests, I’m also aware that the involvement of the Church in fascist politics went well beyond a few bishops being photographed giving fascist salutes. Some, for example, were photographed carrying rifles. Others even used them. Like, to shoot workers? And peasants? One day I’ll get around to reading Julio de la Cueva, ‘Religious Persecution, Anticlerical Tradition and Revolution: On Atrocities against the Clergy during the Spanish Civil War’, Journal of Contemporary History, Vol. 33, No. 3 (Jul., 1998), pp. 355-369. According to this source, there was a death toll of 13 bishops, 4,172 diocesan priests and seminarists, 2,364 monks and friars and 283 nuns, for a total of 6,832 victims.

    Saint Valentine’s Day

The popular customs associated with Saint Valentine’s Day undoubtedly had their origin in a conventional belief generally received in England and France during the Middle Ages, that on 14 February, i.e. half way through the second month of the year, the birds began to pair. Thus in Chaucer’s Parliament of Foules we read:

For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne’s day
Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.

For this reason the day was looked upon as specially consecrated to lovers and as a proper occasion for writing love letters and sending lovers’ tokens. Both the French and English literatures of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries contain allusions to the practice. Perhaps the earliest to be found is in the 34th and 35th Ballades of the bilingual poet, John Gower, written in French; but Lydgate and Clauvowe supply other examples. Those who chose each other under these circumstances seem to have been called by each other their Valentines. In the Paston Letters, Dame Elizabeth Brews writes thus about a match she hopes to make for her daughter (we modernize the spelling), addressing the favoured suitor:

And, cousin mine, upon Monday is Saint Valentine’s Day and every bird chooses himself a mate, and if it like you to come on Thursday night, and make provision that you may abide till then, I trust to God that ye shall speak to my husband and I shall pray that we may bring the matter to a conclusion.

Shortly after the young lady herself wrote a letter to the same man addressing it “Unto my rightwell beloved Valentine, John Paston Esquire”. The custom of choosing and sending valentines has of late years fallen into comparative desuetude.

Me, I’m voting for Hillary not because she’s a woman—but because I am.

Billionaires for Bush or Gore? What about Radical Feminists for Hillary Clinton? I’ve ignored the race for US President because it’s boring. But the Women’s Media Centre has published an essay by the radical feminist writer Robin Morgan titled ‘Goodbye to All That (#2)’, a sequel to an essay originally published in 1970 and dedicated to debunking the myths of the male (dominated) left: “Goodbye, goodbye forever, counterfeit Left, counterleft, male-dominated cracked-glass mirror reflection of the Amerikan Nightmare. Women are the real Left” et cetera. (Radgeek has placed it online here.) This year’s version is written in support of Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the Democratic nomination for Presidential candidate, and her desire to become the United States’ first female President. And in the end, what it boils down to is Morgan appealing for other women to vote for Clinton.

Oh well.

Then again, I thought Demon Lover: On the Sexuality of Terrorism was kinda odd too.

Wtf happened to Stormfront?

Update: According to Black & Co., “Stormfront is down for maintenance. Check back later. Or tune in to live Stormfront Radio. Dr. [sic] David Duke & Don Black on now, talking, among other things, about the attacks on Stormfront today.” So, some kinda DDOS I guess… making those responsible as bad as — if not worse — than Hitler (according to some local punks). What about the children? Nutty followers of the 14 Words elsewhere write: “Stormfront… has been under cyber attack for the past few days. Apparently free speech by racially-realistic whites is such a threat to the myth of egalitarianism and multiculturalism that the proponents of this hoax feel the need to illegally attack a bulletin board.”

How odd.

The world’s leading White supremacist website now appears to have discovered God: http://www.stormfront.org leading to “Kinsman Redeemer Ministeries”. Well, kinda…

Greetings in the wonderful and mighty name of Jesus Christ.

This Internet outreach is dedicated to the vision of establishing a Christian foundation for the good news of the gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ in the United States. The so called churches in this country, as elsewhere in the world, are corrupted with the trappings of jewish fables and false doctrines detrimental to the true Israel people of scripture; that is, the Anglo Saxon, Celtic, Scandinavian, Germanic and kindred peoples that comprise the twelve tribes, to whom the Holy Bible is exclusively about.

Um… right.

According to the SPLC, Kinsman Redeemer is one of several dozen organisations describing themselves as propagating “Christian Identity”:

The Christian Identity religion asserts that whites, not Jews, are the true Israelites favored by God in the Bible. In most of its forms, Identity theology depicts Jews as biologically descended from Satan, while non-whites are seen as soulless “mud people” created with the other Biblical “beasts of the field.” Christian Identity has its roots in a 19th-century English fad called British Israelism, which asserted that European whites were descended from the ten “lost tribes” of Israel and were thus related to Jews, who were descended from the other two Hebrew tribes mentioned in the Bible. But British Israelism, which was initially friendly to Jews, was adopted and transformed in the 20th century into a rabidly anti-Semitic creed by a number of racist preachers in the United States.

For decades, Identity has been one of the most important ideologies for the white supremacist movement. In its hardest line form, it asserts that Christ will not return to earth until the globe is swept clean of Jews and other “Satanic” [in]fluences. In recent years, deep doctrinal disputes, the lack of a central church structure, and a shift among white supremacists towards agnosticism and racist variations of neo-Paganism have weakened the Identity movement and reduced the number of its adherents.

Nazi… sorry I meant… Noble Front

Yeah, so just briefly, apparently Dave Pollard, the boofhead behind a local neo-Nazi distro, ‘Noble Front’, got sprung on Seven News in Sydney. Now his site is down. More from the slackbastard Sydney correspondent later…

More and later: Dave, a young fella about 25 years of age and sporting a goatee, is sprung by a reporter outside a petrol station. Said reporter fires questions at Dave about his website (which sells neo-Nazi paraphernalia and other items of a similar nature). Dave provides monsyllabic answers and gives the impression of being a man of few words.

Ug.

The report also contained visuals of the shit Dave sells by the sea shore, as well as shots of the webshite itself. At the end of the report, Mr Pollard treated viewers to a middle finger salute and drove off in his ute. Oh yeah, and Vic Alhadeff of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies was quoted as saying this sort of thing — that is, making money from selling Nazi shit — was bad.

So, too, is hosting neo-Nazi gigs. Well, according to some… others think it’s peachy.

You’re pathetic, you’re disgusting
You’re pathetic, you make me sick
I estimated your worth today, you’re shit

You can go out of business for all I care
Your way of life isn’t going anywhere
I’m not stupid and I won’t be led
By pricks like you who’d be better off dead

You’re pathetic, you’re disgusting

I estimated your worth today, you’re shit

Rambo 4

This movie is incredible. If you see one movie this year make sure it is ‘John Rambo’.

If you didn’t already know; Rambo is truly the baddest cunt ever. He is like 1,000 Nintendo power gloves combined. In the first five minutes he is on screen he catches a cobra with his bare hands and puts it in a sack; catches a fish with a bow and arrow; and smiths some bad ass knife (which will be used later in the movie for eating the fish, of course).

“We need to use your boat, Rambo”
“Are you bringing any guns?”
“Of course not”
“You aren’t going to change anything”

This was the moment when I knew I was in for a great movie experience and I stood up and cheered and flung my cock back over my shoulder…

Notes:

Despite being of draft age during the US / Viet Nam War, having been born in 1946, Sly managed to avoid being drafted. According to one source:

After high school, Stallone coached women’s athletics at the American College of Switzerland, and became involved in drama, appearing in a school production of Arthur Miller’s Death of A Salesman. He returned to America and studied drama at the University of Miami, but dropped out to become a struggling actor in New York. Stallone appeared in an all-nude off-Broadway play called Score, and in 1970 he was paid $200 to appear in a cheap porno feature called The Party at Kitty and Stud’s. Years later, after Rocky made Stallone famous, The Party was re-released as The Italian Stallion, with an orgasm-faced Stallone on the video box. In 1971, he had a bit part as a thug in Woody Allen’s Bananas. In 1972 he auditioned for a small part in Coppola’s The Godfather, but did not get the role, so Stallone decided he might have better luck as a writer…

The two so-called ‘Jihad Sheilas’, Rabiah Hutchison and Raisah bint Alan Douglas, “say they have been tricked by the ABC. They claim they were being interviewed for Australian Story but instead they appear in a documentary to be be aired tonight [February 4] titled Jihad Sheilas. The women delivered a protest letter to the ABC’s Sydney headquarters” on February 4. The ABC denies the allegation.

As usual, Irfan Yusuf provides some insight on the subject of Islam and Western converts.

Converts’ dangerous pull towards extremism
Irfan Yusuf
The Sydney Morning Herald
February 7, 2008

This week the ABC screened Jihad Sheilas, the story of two Australian women who became caught up in a whirlpool of religious extremism. They were just two among a tiny proportion of a generation of Muslim youths and converts radicalised by people linked to past conflicts in Afghanistan…

So much modern political radicalism in Muslim communities is rooted in contemporary political conflicts in the nominally Muslim world. These often become the centre of spiritual attention for young Muslims with little exposure to mainstream Islamic theology and little understanding of the nuances of the conflict.

However, it would be wrong to generalise about all converts. Islam attracts people from all walks of life. Prominent Australian converts include former diplomats, prominent sportspeople and a former ABC foreign correspondent. People turn to Islam and other non-Christian faiths for any number of reasons. They might feel outcasts in conventional society or disillusioned with aspects of mainstream culture. They might be searching for an alternative lifestyle…

In Rambo III (1988), Stallone plays Rambo in Afghanistan:

God would have mercy, John Rambo won’t!
The first was for himself. The second for his country. This time is for his friend.

Uh-huh.

In reality, Rambo III was little more than a propaganda piece for the Reagan Administration’s proxy war on the Soviet Union. And as is common knowledge, the role of his Government and the US state in arming, training and supplying Afghan mujahideen has been well-documented, and the forces which now struggle against US forces in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere in the world owe Ronald Reagan a debt of gratitude.

Twenty years after Rambo III, the film Charlie Wilson’s War comes in for similar criticism. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy The war of a thousand years (Alain Gresh, La Monde diplomatique, September 2004) — and pray it doesn’t come knocking on your door.
