White supremacist jailed for nine months
Toronto Globe & Mail
July 13, 2006

TORONTO — An unabashed neo-Nazi who defied a court order to stop spreading hated over the Internet was arrested Thursday after being sentenced to nine months in jail for contempt, a punishment his lawyer called harsh.

In a scathing decision, a Federal Court judge ruled that Tomasz “Wanker” Winnicki, of London, Ontario, had shown blatant disdain for the justice system in continuing his hate campaign against Jews and people of colour.

Supporters of a white supremacist jailed for hate messages make veiled threats.

The sentencing of a London, [Ontario] white supremacist to nine months in jail has sparked a firestorm of Internet anger against Canada and veiled threats against the Ottawa lawyer who launched the case.

“Bring me back (Richard) Warman’s head on a platter . . . ,” said one angry white supremacist, adding, “This is not a death threat or incitement to violence, only a joke.”

But the same writer, who always ends his Internet postings with a slogan about the value of a .44 Magnum gun, also warned Warman: “You bring your (act) to my neighborhood and we’ll see who’s standing by the end of it. You just started a war, man.”

Londoner Tomasz “Wanker” Winnicki was sentenced Wednesday to nine months in jail for contempt of a federal court order banning him from spreading hate messages online.

The website forum he favoured was full of messages in support of him yesterday.

One writer suggested they band together to get rid of Warman, who has targeted about a dozen white supremacists and their online activity.

“Let us get together and put as much information about this Warman . . . pictures, newspaper clippings, memberships . . . and make it available on the Web for the least stable among us to use as they see fit.”

He’s not Der Führer, he’s just a very naughty boy.

In other news, it appears that anti-anarchist boneheads may have to blow a little harder before their silly ideas take root in ‘small-town America’. Well, Oregon, Illinois anyway…

Anti Illegal Immigration Rally

The Aryan Anarchist Skins aren’t your traditional white supremacist group.

“We accept homosexuals, bisexuals, lesbians and that’s why we didn’t get the turnout on our side,” says Debra Brownstein of the Aryan Anarchist Skins.

Only four people stood on the Skins’ side of the orange fence.

“On our website we’ve had two, maybe three hundred people say they were coming,” says [not-too-bright] Sergeant Officer Lisa Schultz.

Hundreds of people did show up, but they were banded together to protest the Skins’ rally.

…Maintaining order at today’s rally forced the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department to call in backup. It cost around $60,000 to bring in extra personnel and set up barriers around the courthouse.

Those who attended the rally had to go through metal detectors into a fenced off area. Over 100 officers from as far away as Polo were present to keep the protestors and the Aryans away from one another. Police say the event went as planned.

Anarchist Group Rallies in Small Town

A group of white supremacists called the Aryan Nations held a demonstration to protest illegal immigration in the U.S. They say they chose Oregon, Illinois because of the number of immigrants in Ogle County. Only four activists showed up and dozens of people took a stance against their rally.

Like a scene out of an old western, the two sides squared off in the middle of town. Michael Wharfield joined the local community members in protesting the anarchists. He said, “We just came to show that this is unacceptable in our community.”

…The yelling disrupted any sort of debate and the Aryan Nations members who hoped to bring a message to the small town walked away with an earful themselves after a mere hour of cross-fire chants and angry shouts.

The Spanish Revolution and the English Literati

‘For whom the bell tolled: Writers on the front line’
John Walsh
The Independent
July 15, 2006

The Spanish Civil War, which began 70 years ago, mobilised the literary elite. What made them put down their pens and take up arms?

…Did everyone agree that it was “a state of affairs worth fighting for”? In an unprecedented move, the opinions of the nation’s poets, dramatists, novelists and essayists were directly canvassed in a questionnaire. The idea was a joint effort by Auden, Spender and Nancy Cunard, the society hostess. Bluntly claiming “it is impossible any longer to take no side”, they asked (betraying their own sympathies a touch): “Are you for, or against, the legal Government and People of Republican Spain? Are you for, or against, Franco and Fascism?”

…Perhaps surprisingly, Orwell refused to participate, dismissing the questionnaire with: “Will you please stop sending me this bloody rubbish … If I did compress what I know and think about the Spanish war into six lines, you wouldn’t print it.”

After all this idealism, the comedown was painful. Many writers who enlisted with such high hopes returned disillusioned by the reality of life among the Republicans: the burning of churches in Barcelona, the torture and murder of bishops, monks, nuns and parish priests, the uselessness [sic] of the government under Manuel Diaz, the casual execution of political opponents, the shooting of anyone half-suspected of treachery.

There was no clarity about who were the good guys and who the bad. “Was there ever a people,” asked Robert Jordan, Hemingway’s alter ego in For Whom the Bell Tolls, “whose leaders were as truly their enemies as this one?”

…Spender wrote Poems from Spain, but was shocked by the International Brigade’s executions and left the Communist Party soon after. Orwell watched as the Communists turned on the POUM and seemed keener on suppressing other factions of the left, including Trotskyites and anarchists, than destroying fascism. “I suppose,” he wrote in Homage to Catalonia, “there is no one who spent a few weeks in Spain without being in some degree disillusioned. As for the newspaper talk about this being a ‘war for democracy’, it was plain eyewash.”

Needless to say, Orwell’s position on this question — “Are you for, or against, the legal Government and People of Republican Spain? Are you for, or against, Franco and Fascism?” — was not at all “surprising” if one understands Orwell, his experiences in Spain, his hostility towards Communism and its apologists on the British Left (his erstwhile “companions”) in particular. His response — “If I did compress what I know and think about the Spanish war into six lines, you wouldn’t print it” — is also understandable if one takes into account the many difficulties Orwell had in finding a publisher for his major work on the Civil War and Revolution, Homage to Catalonia.

Orwell’s reply at greater length:

Will you please stop sending me this bloody rubbish. This is the second or third time I have had it. I am not one of your fashionable pansies like Auden and Spender, I was six months in Spain, most of the time fighting, I have a bullet hole in me at present and I am not going to write blah about defending democracy or gallant little anybody. Moreover, I know what is happening and has been happening on the Government side for months past, i.e. that Fascism is being riveted on to the Spanish workers under the pretext of resisting Fascism…

But the chances are that you — whoever you are who keep sending me this thing — have money and are well-informed: so no doubt you know something about the inner history of the war and have deliberately joined in the defence of “democracy” (i.e. capitalism) racket in order to aid in crushing the Spanish working class and thus indirectly defend your dirty little dividends…

By the way, tell your pansy friend Spender that I am preserving specimens of his war-heroics and that when the time comes when he squirms for shame at having written it, as the people who wrote the war propaganda in the Great War are squirming now, I shall rub it in good and hard.

According to Orwell:

The thing that had happened in Spain was, in fact, not merely a civil war [Republican Goverment vs. Fascism], but the beginning of a revolution. It is this fact that the anti-Fascist press outside Spain has made it its special business to obscure.

Spilling the Spanish Beans :

The Spanish war has probably produced a richer crop of lies than any event since the Great War of 1914-18, but I honestly doubt, in spite of all those hecatombs of nuns who have been raped and crucified before the eyes of Daily Mail reporters, whether it is the pro-Fascist newspapers that have done the most harm. It is the left-wing papers, the News Chronicle and the Daily Worker, with their far subtler methods of distortion, that have prevented the British public from grasping the real nature of the struggle.

The fact which these papers have so carefully obscured is that the Spanish Government (including the semi-autonomous Catalan Government) is far more afraid of the revolution than of the Fascists. It is now almost certain that the war will end with some kind of compromise, and there is even reason to doubt whether the Government, which let Bilbao fail without raising a finger, wishes to be too victorious; but there is no doubt whatever about the thoroughness with which it is crushing its own revolutionaries. For some time past a reign of terror — forcible suppression of political parties, a stifling censorship of the press, ceaseless espionage and mass imprisonment without trial — has been in progress. When I left Barcelona in late June the jails were bulging; indeed, the regular jails had long since overflowed and the prisoners were being huddled into empty shops and any other temporary dump that could be found for them. But the point to notice is that the people who are in prison now are not Fascists but revolutionaries; they are there not because their opinions are too much to the Right, but because they are too much to the Left. And the people responsible for putting them there are those dreadful revolutionaries at whose very name Garvin quakes in his galoshes — the Communists.

FCUK the G8!

BUSH ARRIVES IN RUSSIA AS SOVIET STYLE REPRESSION OF ANTI-G8 PROTESTERS CONTINUES

200 people, Russians and internationals, have been imprisoned in the last few days as the G8 Summit prepares to begin tomorrow. Despite a total government ban on any demonstrations, protests are held in Moscow, Kiev, St. Petersburg, and across the world. Bush is not expected to condemn Putin publicly for his actions against popular protest.

As President Putin continues to speak about the improvements in democracy in Russia to the international press, the repression against activists goes on. It’s less than a day until the beginning of the summit and already over 200 activists of all stripes and colors have been detained, arrested, intimidated and even beaten. The number of violations against civil and human rights reaches more than one hundred.

A few Russian citizens, two Germans and one Swiss person have been convicted on the ground of ridiculous accusations with 10 to 15 days of imprisonment. Spurious charges have ranged from spitting or urinating on the ground, to charges of cursing the police, and in some cases there have been accusations that the police have planted drugs and even explosives on activists. Many have been spied on and stalked by police and FSB (ex-KGB) quite openly.

The Legal Team of the NOG8 group, despite the fact that their office was raided recently by police, reports many incidents. Until today they received hundreds of complaints about the restriction of free movement:

– threats and warnings, not to travel to St. Petersburg (26)
– forceful return of tickets (8)
– return tickets have been bought under pressure (4)
– people have been taken out of trains (86).

In 19 cases the right to gather in public space was restricted, 29 people have been detained by police on train stations in St. Petersburg on arrival, 8 were arrested without any reasons. The police entered 9 apartments without official juridical order. Nine passports were confiscated.

Hundreds of activists have had their papers checked on the streets of St.Petersburg. One example is the odyssey of the activist Alexander Lashmankin from Samara. His house has been searched and all his attempts to travel to St. Petersburg were met with detainment and arrest on his way by train, suburban train and while hitchhiking. Finally he was told by the police and the FSB that he won’t be able to reach St. Petersburg until the end of the summit. Now he is going home to Samara. Tomorrow he will have a press conference at 11:00 in Samara.

Another example is the threatening of relatives of activists, with one case being mother of the journalist Vlad Tupikin from Moscow. She was met by two policemen on the streets who then entered her apartment. They put pressure on the old woman to tell them about her son’s plans in St.Petersburg. After she refused to cooperate with them, she was warned about the consequences of her behaviour and future visits.

The third case is Vasilii Starostin, his son Jegor and another person from the Siberian Workers Union in Omsk, Elena Girde, who have been detained in Ekaterinburg, while they were traveling to St. Petersburg. After a long and heavy interrogation, where they were threatened with a court case for being involved in “extremist” activities, the police and FSB advised them to travel back to Omsk.

Jay Kayne of the Berlin anti-G8 Media Group said, “Despite the fact that all protest has been banned in Russia through [to] the end of the G8, numerous protests have been carried out. On 12 July a colorful Carnival against Capitalism occurred in Moscow. Today in Kiev, Ukraine, a demonstration with the motto The World is Not a Commodity was carried out. An “illegal” protest is now planned for the final day of the G8. On the 16th of July there will be an Anti-War Demonstration in St.Petersburg. It will take place at 2pm near Nievski Prospekt Metro Station. Activists expect it to be interrupted by the police before this, because it’s not legal. We think President Bush is not expected to condemn Putin publicly for his actions against popular protest, as he has supported similar actions in the USA.”

International solidarity demonstrations have already taken place in multiple cities, including London, Sydney, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Washington DC, Manila, and many others…

Redwatch Poland : The millstone around DreamHost’s neck

A revolution with a goal so fine
From ’36 to 1939
They say it ended that last year
But the fascists are still here
The war ain’t over and the battle ain’t won
The struggle, baby, has just begun
So fascist pigs start to run
We won’t forget what you’ve done

It’s a war between the classes
The privileged few against the masses
The Spanish anarchists said: “¡No Pasarán!”
I say we stick to that until the war is won

It’s a proletarian hop
Proletarian hop
Proletarian hop
That just won’t stop
Proletarian hop
Proletarian hop
Proletarian hop
That just won’t stop

Randy, Proletarian Hop

It seems that DreamHost’s arrogant dismissal of the legitimate concerns raised by numerous parties regarding the Los Angeles-based company’s hosting of the neo-Nazi site Redwatch Poland may now be coming back to bite them in the arse.

Hard.

Despite declaring, on numerous occasions (in fact, whenever questioned by members of the public, including its own valued* customers) that the site is completely legal, it has been closed: presumably by DreamHost, possibly acting under the instruction or advice of the FBI or other US legal authorities (certainly in accordance with the public utterances of Polish authorities)…

Aside from the assaults upon Maciek on May 16 and Michael on (or about) May 27, the threats made towards participants in gay rights activism and left-wing journalists, what DreamHost dismally fails either to acknowledge or to understand is: i) the nature of contemporary Polish politics; ii) the presence of neo-fascists in the Polish government; iii) Polish history and, finally; iv) the importance of relations between the Polish state and the European Union…

Meanwhile, a beardy fellow by the name of Frank Fisher has the privilege of being the first journalist from the (shallow end of the) corporate sector to make comment on issues to do with Redwatch: that old chestnut ‘free speech’ being the main topic for discussion, natch. According to Frank, Redwatch UK is OK… at least insofar as, in his opinion, the site breaks no laws. Redwatch Poland, on the other hand — and seemingly on the basis of one report by IFEX — is not. The relationship between Redwatch and Blood & Honour — or Combat 18 for that matter — is barely mentioned in his report. Neither is the fact that DreamHost has apparently taken a unilateral action in closing Redwatch Poland down: no court has ordered them to do so on pain of prosecution, and DreamHost maintains its silence on the issue.

Not that mere denial will absolve them.

Perhaps Frank should replicate the actions he performed in solidarity with Green Anarchist, and republish the contents of Redwatch Poland?

Some years ago, I spent a few days laboriously HTML-ing small stories from the newsletter Green Anarchist that had themselves been gathered from local papers around the country. These detailed arson attacks on, mostly, businesses associated with animal exports or foxhunting. The editors of Green Anarchist had been jailed for inciting arson by republishing that material. Now, in solidarity with the jailed citizen/journalists, and to publicise their case, I was keen to republish it. They were eventually released on appeal (although via a legal technicality rather than on grounds of freedom of the press), but the case still left the law in an unsatisfactory state that is worsening week by week as the blogger blurs the line between journalist and activist.

After all, why not? In fact, one could almost describe this not just as a possibility for Frank, but a duty.

The other missing ingredient from Frank’s recipe for free speech is webhosting. In other words, what responsibilities does DreamHost (for example) have in regards to the content of sites they agree to host? Leaving aside any legalities, why should spam be regarded as a much more serious offence than expressing the view (for example) that Hitler was right and that ‘the Jews’ should be exterminated… starting with Maciek D?

Anyway, I’m quite drunk — believe it or not — and will stop now.

Boneheads Seek Willing Political Philosophy For Permanent Relationship

Nobody likes neo-Nazis, especially ones from Illinois. In fact, (neo-)Nazism is one of the most universally reviled ideologies known to humanity. Of course, it wasn’t always. Further, its bad reputation regularly manages to attract a small number of losers for whom (neo-)Nazism serves as a prop for a weak ego, and who imagine — tragically — that recreating Hitler’s organised contempt for human dignity will win them f r i e n d s.

Rather than, say, little more than being told to go and jump off a bridge.

However, over the course of the last 15 years or so — the collapse of the Evil (Communist) Empire in the late 80s and early 90s being a pivotal moment — numerous fascists and racists of one sort or another have been seeking some new way forward to help them achieve their vision of Hell on Earth. Part of this project revolves around crafting a new political identity: for some, at least, parading about in Nazi drag — a la the soon-to-be defunct National Socialist Movement (“Heil Satan!”) — is about as attractive a proposition as the men who don such costumes.

Instead, building upon the partially successful inroads into the working class subculture of skinhead that fascists made in the late 1970s, these other fascist elements have turned to the various forms of nationalist ideology that the collapse of Empire spewed forth, and it’s on this ideological foundation that the fascist doctrine of Third Positionism / ‘National Bolshevism’ (‘neither right nor left’) has been built, one that forms an increasingly important organising principle of the far right. Even the self-contradictory doctrine of ‘National Anarchism’ has its followers, especially among among those with more hair than brains…

White nationalists to protest in Oregon
Sadie Gurman
Rockford Register Star
July 12, 2006

OREGON — A Freeport-based Aryan Nation group plans to rally in front of the Ogle County Courthouse on Saturday, in what the organization’s leaders are calling a non-violent, “voice of opinion about current immigration laws.”

Members of the Aryan Anarchist Skins, described as a white nationalist group on the organization’s Web site, will demonstrate at 2 p.m. on Saturday, on South Fifth Street between the old courthouse and the Ogle County Judicial Center, said Lisa Shultz, a “sergeant officer” for the group. Shultz said she expects up to 200 people to attend the rally, though the group itself has just 10 members.

To be continued…

Let’s invite the CIA too!

Peter Coleman: Bring on Cold War dissident debaters

Why not honour those friends of freedom who fought communism, suggests Peter Coleman?

The Australian
July 11, 2006

I HAVE a modest proposal for an academic conference. It was prompted by Imre Salusinszky‘s report in these pages yesterday on a seminar last week in Melbourne on Soviet and Australian intellectuals during the good old days of the Cold War, when the lefties were still convinced they were the wave of the future.

[Says Salusinszky: “Australian intellectuals who raved about the Soviet Union get the kid-glove treatment at a Melbourne conference.”]

But my proposal basically dates back to a visit I made to Russia a few years ago…

[Blah blah blah: Coleman likes Boris Pasternak.]

…Which brings me to Salusinszky’s report yesterday. It discussed the Melbourne Conferences on Soviet and Australian History and Culture, which ran over five days last week at the University of Melbourne. Sheila Fitzpatrick organised them.

No doubt some splendid papers were given by splendid scholars on luminaries such as Katharine Susannah Prichard, Guido Baracchi, Betty Roland, Manning Clark and Brian Fitzpatrick and many others.

It was a celebration of the [pro-USSR, anti-soviet] Left. There were some criticisms. How could anyone begin to think about Prichard without noting her many follies? Some of the pro-communists made clear their unhappiness with some aspects of Soviet life, although they left it rather late in the day.

Even Clark began to voice reservations about Soviet Man towards the end. But none of them would mix it with anti-communists, in the past or now. They were outside the pale. All this makes for a dull conference.

So this is my modest proposal to liven things up. Let us have another conference at the University of Melbourne to which we invite not only the usual lefty suspects, still basically pro-Soviet, but also their critics through the long years of the Cold War.

[Daniel Guerin on ‘soviets’: ‘The point of departure of the Revolution of 1917 was that of 1905, during which a new kind of revolutionary organ had come into being: the soviets. They were born in the factories of St. Petersburg during a spontaneous general strike. In the almost complete absence of a trade-union movement and tradition, the soviets filled a vacuum by coordinating the struggle of the factories on strike. The anarchist Voline was one of the small group which had the idea of setting up the first soviet, in close liaison with the workers and at their suggestion. His evidence coincides with that of Trotsky, who became president of the soviet a few months later. In his account of 1905 he wrote, without any pejorative intent – quite the contrary: “The activity of the soviet represented the organization of anarchy. Its existence and its subsequent development marked the consolidation of anarchy.”]

Let’s start with Frank Knopfelmacher. A paper on his life and thought would trace his trajectory from his Marxist youth in Prague and his escape from the Nazis to his return to Prague and his second escape, this time from the communists.

An authority on comparative totalitarianism, his experience, wit and mordant lecturing style would guarantee a stimulating paper. Sam Lipski is the obvious candidate to give it.

Next, a paper on a writer of a different stamp and value system, James McAuley, whose essay ‘On Being an Intellectual’ is the best of its kind in the annals of Australian letters. His odyssey from youthful anarchism to a Catholic anti-communism via Andersonian philosophy and classicist poetry must be absorbing. Tony Abbott is the man for that job.

Then a lively paper on Richard Krygier, who established the anti-communist Australian Association of Cultural Freedom. He kept it going, through the warmth and optimism of his personality and the complete security of his convictions, until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. His son Martin Krygier should give this paper.

Another is Lloyd Ross, the former communist intellectual and trade union leader who broke with the communists over the Hitler-Stalin alliance. Stephen Holt must give this paper.

There are many more anti-communist crusaders. Philosopher John Anderson is one. His uncompromising anti-Stalinist analyses were unique on the Australian Left in the 1930s.

[Anderson’s opposition to “Stalinist” tyranny ‘unique’? I’m not convinced. As a rule of thumb, wherever there were anarchists, there was opposition. And there were anarchists in Australia in the 1920s and 1930s. The fact that these groups and individuals have been (almost) completely ignored may well be attributable to the fact that not only were they anarchists, but wogs to boot. The role of Jim Dawson and the Southern Advocate for Workers’ Councils in the 1940s and 1950s in popularising Left Communism should also not be overlooked.]

James Normington Rawling is another. The Communist Party expelled him because he would not support the Soviet invasion of Finland.

And what about Ken Gee, who has just published his fascinating memoir Comrade Roberts: Recollections of a Trotskyite?

Sheila Fitzpatrick says it would be extraordinarily interesting to bring together the pro-communists and the anti-communists in a conference of this kind.

Yes indeed. So let’s get on with it.

[Peter Coleman was editor of a CIA publication called Quadrant for 20 years during the Cold War.]

Pffft. Unless it includes peeps like Jack the Anarchist, you can count me out Peter. Both the “pro-communists” — read: Communist stooges — and the “anti-communists” — read: right-wing reactionaries — are two sides of the same coin of bourgeois managerialism.

I remember you saying that other than the Sydney libertarians and a few others you found a lot of fear and paranoia amongst Australians in the 1950s?

Selling Freedom at the Domain [where the above photo of Jack was taken] I was faced with the question: “Aren’t you scared of being arrested?” Many would buy Freedom and put it straight in their pockets as if they were pinching something from the shops. The Domain was a very good place. A lot of activities on Sundays. I was speaking from the Rationalist platform. Questioning the communists was one of the greatest fun. I was called a traitor, a fascist and quite often they would call the police and a few times I was removed from the Domain. For the communists anyone who left Eastern Europe was a fascist. Nonetheless I had established a friendship, not without arguments, with a communist, Harry Read, who was expelled from the party because of his criticism of its handling of the Hungarian affairs in 1956. He left for Cuba in 1959 if I am not mistaken. Many of the communists, like Aaron’s faction, were Stalinists.

Mussolini Headkick : Materazzi Headbutt?

Mussolini Headkick.

Above : Themes for Violent Retribution

Materazzi Headbutt.

The Times, ‘Materazzi changes story as Fifa starts inquiry’, Matt Hughes, July 12:

“I did insult him, it’s true, but I categorically did not call him a terrorist,” Materazzi said. “I’m not cultured and I don’t even know what an Islamic terrorist is. I held his shirt for a few seconds only, then he turned round and spoke to me, sneering. He looked me up and down arrogantly and said, ‘If you really want my shirt, I’ll give it to you afterwards’. ”

Given his poor disciplinary record, which was once raised in the Italian parliament, Materazzi is not a naturally sympathetic character, although he appears determined to try to rehabilitate his reputation. The Inter Milan centre back was adamant that he had not insulted Zidane’s mother after lip-readers claimed that he called the Frenchman “the son of a terrorist whore”.

Bill White makes like a rat; Carl D. Thompson cries like a baby?

Roanoke landlord resigns from National Socialist Movement
The Roanoke Times (Virginia, USA)
July 11, 2006

William A. White said he’s concerned about the NSM’s possible link to a Satanist group.

By Laurence Hammack

Roanoke landlord and neo-Nazi sympathizer [?] William A. White has resigned from the National Socialist Movement, an organization that idolizes Adolf Hitler but is reportedly in turmoil over being associated with Satan.

White said Monday he stepped down as spokesman for the group and leader of its Roanoke unit over the weekend following revelations that some NSM members are involved with a group called the Joy of Satan.

According to White and others, the Satanic group engages in inappropriate sexual discussions with children through its Teens for Satan e-mail group.

Until recently considered the country’s fastest-growing white supremacy group, the NSM is in the midst of an upheaval that could change that, said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups.

An unknown number of members have left the NSM over the controversy, and some entire statewide chapters, including the one in Washington, have bolted from the Minneapolis-based organization, Potok said.

“I think there’s something fairly seismic going on with the National Socialist Movement,” he said.

But according to NSM commander Jeff Schoep, the scandal consists only of rumors spread by White on the Internet. Schoep said White was expelled from the group Friday for “attacking Christianity and various religions.” He also said White has a credibility problem.

[Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! “Credibility problem”. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!]

The NSM official accused by White has denied any ties to Satanism, Schoep said. But if there was such a link, particularly one that involved improper contact with children, the movement would take the appropriate actions, he said.

“We certainly can’t have that. We’re a political party and a legal entity in the United States.”

In his year or so with the group, White “put the National Socialist Movement on the map,” largely through his role as spokesman during a march in Toledo, Ohio, that resulted in a riot that drew national attention, Potok said.

White, who owns more than a dozen rental homes in Roanoke’s West End neighborhood, has also generated controversy for his actions as a landlord and the editor of somebodybringmeabucket-quick.com, a Web site that often airs racist views. The Roanoke NAACP has accused White of discriminating against minority tenants, a charge he denies.

White has declined to say how many members belong to the local NSM unit he headed.

In a recent post on his Web site, White said he has set up an e-mail group for “all white activists” who might be interested in forming a new national socialist movement. But it’s too soon to say whether such an organization might be headquartered in Roanoke.

“That is so far into the future that I can’t comment on that at all,” White said.

NB. Carl D. Thompson is a disgraced former editor, and currently only member (and possibly even leader) of the NSM Down Under. More on him later… maybe. (I’m actually unsure if he’s serious or just has an unfortunate fetish for brooding men dressed in black leather.)
