Recently, Ben Weerheym (left) saw fit to drop by the Australian Anarchy Bulletin Board and leave me some words of wit & wisdom. Posting as “anti-antifa!” in a thread dedicated to discussing the upcoming benefit gig for Fightdemback and Timur Kacharava — ‘anti-antifa!’ was, incidentally, the warcry of Timur’s vicious and cowardly murderers — Weerheym, commenting on Yidcore‘s support for the gig, wrote:

The right-wing ANM is headed by Jack van Tongeren, who spent 12 years behind bars for a spate of racially-motivated fire bombings in Perth in the 1980’s.

That’s documented fact. And what exactly were your targets? A synagogue, a kosher food store and a Chinese restaurant.

And what have you done since Ben? What lessons have you learnt? Very few, it seems. You continue to rant and rave about “the Jews”, ‘Asians’ who supposedly “have their own culture and religion, form ghettoes and do not assimilate”, the perils of homosexuality and any expression of sex, sexuality or gender that goes beyond your petit-bourgeois notions of ‘decency’ (especially those which undermine, if only symbolically, the patriarchal order). And that’s just the beginning!

Not only are you a prude, you’re also a hypocrite. According to ‘Duck Monster’, you’ve threatened to not only kill him, but, in addition, to commit arson against the homes of Perth Indymedia activists. Further, he alleges you’ve: vandalised the homes and workplaces of activists you didn’t happen to like, “endangered the lives of protected witnesses in New Zealand… posted maps to houses of anti-racist activists and hinted that they should be assaulted… and… knowingly posted details to the parents’ [homes] of more than one [other] Australian activist”. Threats which, as ‘Sue Denim’ points out, you’ve yet to either retract or to apologise for. (And no prizes for guessing why: apologising for your actions only makes sense if you admit to them in the first place.) And to accuse others of the same without evidence is pathetic.

And you know Ben, “in the past” there was this thing called WWII. (Australia took part and everything.) And you know what? Australia’s enemies used the same language: we were ‘anti-fascist’ rabble under the spell of International Jewry. And do you know how many Australian casualties there were in WWII Ben? I didn’t, so I looked it up. The official statistics read:

Of course, this list of casualties fails to include all those who re-entered civilian life deeply scarred by the horrors they’d witnessed, and the many who, along with their families, suffered greatly in ‘peace’ as well as ‘war’. To sum up: there is no indication that any evidence exists that contradicts the view widely held in activist circles that you’re anything other than a sociopath — and plenty of evidence to support it. Such evidence includes Leftywatch.

Yeah well, we all know that’s not true Ben.

As for your DJ-ing: if others want neo-Nazis to entertain them at their parties, so be it. I’m sure it must be convenient for you that some people think that ‘politics’ ends at their front doorstep. It must also be of great comfort to the people whose businesses and places of worship you vandalised — as well as the various groups you regularly target for villification on your website — that their “friends” in Perth think that a convicted neo-Nazi is actually quite an entertaining person. Oh well! I guess that as long as you’re not an Australian of Jewish or Asian or indigenous descent, gay, lesbian or ‘queer’, an anarchist or leftist of any description… you’re alright.

About Us
This site is directed towards the revolutionary anti-capitalist movements that have emerged over the last several years. The rise of these movements shows the potential for radical struggle that breaks with parliamentary reformism and the remnants of the various state socialisms. However, much of this potential remains untapped. Our side is small, undeveloped and, in the recent past, mainly on the defensive. Our inability to consolidate a substantial political alternative out of the very real potentials points to the difficulty of the tasks.

The contributors to this site consider the fracturing of the global capitalist system to be a real possibility. However, there is no guarantee that political opposition to global capital will coalesce around a radical liberatory alternative. There is another opposition emerging – a reactionary neofascism that aims to overthrow the current capitalist hegemony and institute a radically different oppressive social order. This leads us to conclude that we are in a three way contest where the faultlines don’t conform to a simple “Us” and “Them”.

We have set up this site to contribute to the development of ideas for action. We need to clarify the actual political processes, not manufacture some new slogans, and work out some political strategies that aren’t just chewed over reruns of past debates and failures.

What you will find here is opinions, analysis, debate, and news covering the politics and culture of our current world and the new movement(s) we are attempting to create. Some posts may be long, in depth and part of ongoing discussions, while others may be short and to the point. What we are aiming for is the transmission of engaging and informative commentary.

Skinhead Attitude

‘Mainstream’ (read: corporate/state-controlled) media frequently confuse skinheads with boneheads. “Bonehead” is a derogatory term used by Traditional and other Skins to denote any Skinhead who holds to racist or White Power beliefs, as well as those Neo-Nazis who have adopted the Skinhead “look” in an attempt to hijack the movement. The documentary film Skinhead Attitude is one of the few to take this distinction seriously (although the filmmaker’s use of the analogy of Cain & Abel is deeply problematic). In any case, I highly recommend this film, as it at least provides authentic skins a voice. (Oh, it also features a very sexy French skin called Karole as our ‘guide’… sigh.)

The Fascist Objection to Anarchism

The fascist objection to Anarchism is, curiously enough, more honest than that of the Marxist, the liberal or the Social-Democrat. Most of these will say, if pressed, that Anarchism is an ideal, perhaps imperfectly understood, but either impossible of achievement or possible only in the distant future. The fascist, on the contrary, admits its possibility; What is denied is its desirability.

The right-wing authoritarian (which term includes many beyond those naming themselves fascists) worships the very things which are anathema to Anarchists, especially the State. Though the conception of the State is idealised in fascist theory, it is not denied that one could do without it. But the “first duty of the citizen is to defend the State” and it is high treason to oppose it or advocate its abolition.

Sometimes the State is disguised as the “corporate people” or the “nation,” giving a mystical idea of the State beyond the mere bureaucratic apparatus of rule. The forces of militarism and oppression are idealised (after the German emperor who said that universal peace was “only a dream and not even a good dream”). Running throughout right-wing patriotism is a mystical feeling about the “country”, but though Nazis in particular sometimes have recourse to an idealisation of the “people” (this has more of a racial than popular connotation in German), it is really the actual soil that is held sacred, thus taking the State myth to its logical conclusion. For the Anarchist this, of course, is nonsense. The nonsense can be seen in its starkest form with the followers of Franco who killed off so many Spaniards even after the Civil War was ended, while hankering for the barren rock of Gibraltar: especially in General Milan de Astrray, who wanted to kill off “bad Spaniards” and eradicate Catalans and Basques in the name of unitary Spain, thus (as Unamuno pointed out) making Spain as “one-armed and one-eyed, as the General was himself”.

Anarchism is clearly seen by fascists as a direct menace and not a purely philosophical one. It is not merely the direct action of Anarchists but the thing itself which represents the evil. The “democratic” media finally got around to picking up these strands in fascist thinking, ironing them out nicely, and presenting them in the “news” stories. Hitler regarded the Authoritarian State he had built as millennial (the thousand-year state) but he knew it could be dismembered and rejected. His constant theme was the danger of this and while he concentrated (for political reasons) attacks on a totalitarian rival, State Communism (since Russia presented a military menace), his attacks on “cosmopolitanism” have the reiterated theme of anti-Anarchism.

“Cosmopolitanism” and “Statelessness” are the “crimes” Nazism associated with Jews, though since Hitler’s day large numbers of them have reverted to nationalism and a strong state. The theme of “Jewish domination” goes hand in hand with “anarchist destruction of authority, morals, and discipline”, since fascism regards personal freedom as bad in itself and only national freedom permissible. Insofar as one can make any sense of Hitler’s speeches (which are sometimes deceptive since he followed different strands of thought according to the way he could sway an audience), he believed “plunging into Anarchy” of a country (abolition of State restraints) will lead to chaos, which will make it possible for a dictatorship other than the one in the people’s interests to succeed.

Hitler did not confuse State Communism with Anarchism (as Franco did deliberately) for propaganda purposes, to try to eradicate Anarchism from history. He equated Communism with “Jewish domination”, and the case against the Jews (in original Nazi thinking) that they are a racially-pure people who will gain conquest over helots like the Germans.

A “Master Race” must control the Germans to keep the rival State out. In a condition of freedom the German “helots” would revert to Anarchy, just as the racially “inferior” Celts of France threw out the Norman Nordic overlords (the Houston Chamberlain version of the French Revolution). Later, of course, when Nazism became a mass Party it was expedient to amend this to saying the Germans were the Master Race, but this was not the original Nazi philosophy, nor was it privately accepted by the Nazi leaders (“the German people were not worthy of me”). But they could hardly tell mass meetings that they were all “helots”. At least not until their power was complete. This idea that a whole people (whichever it was) can be born “helots” could not be better expressed as the contrary opposite of Anarchism, since in this case it would indeed be impossible.

This Nazi propaganda is echoed by the media today; “plunging the country into Anarchy would be followed by a Communist or extreme right-wing dictatorship” is current newspaper jargon.

To sum up the fascist objection to Anarchism: It is not denied the abolition of the State can come about, but if so, given economic, social, and political freedom, the “helots” — who are “naturally inclined” to accept subjection from superior races — will seek for masters. They will have a nostalgia for “strong rule”.

In Nazi thinking, strong rule can only come from (in theory) racially-pure members of the “Master Race” (something a little more than a class and less than a people), which can be constructive masters (i.e., the “Aryans”), or a race which has had no contact with the “soil” and will be thus destructive.

In other types of fascist thinking, given freedom, the people will throw off all patriotic and nationalistic allegiances and so the “country” will cease to be great. This is the basis of Mussolini’s fascism, and, of course, it is perfectly true, bearing in mind that “the country” is his synonym for the State and his only conception of greatness is militaristic. The frankest of all is the Spanish type of fascism which sought to impose class domination of the most brutal kind and make it plain that its opposition to Anarchism was simply in order to keep the working class down. If necessary, the working class may be, and was, decimated in order to crush Anarchism.

It is true of all political philosophies and blatant with the fascist one, that its relationship to Anarchism throws as clear light upon itself!

Tottenham born, Meltzer (born January 7, 1920 – died May 7, 1996) founded the Anarchist Black Cross — a now international support group for political prisoners — edited Black Flag and spent some 60 years in the Anarchist movement. He is perhaps best known for his commitment to the ideals of the Spanish Anarchist movement and the resistance to Franco. All this and he even managed to work for the Daily Telegraph! Although he could be a grumpy bugger, Meltzer is a great example of how to remain committed to your beliefs whilst still living your life – he came into the Anarchist movement as a young man surrounded by the old, and died in it an old man surrounded by the young. Darrin Hodges is A Glutton for Punishment

Liar, liar, pants on fire! Just two and a half weeks later, Hodges is back!

OK, OK, it’s not exactly Earth-shattering news, but still. The question is: why? I think that there’s basically two possibilities: i) there’s been another change in Hodges’ “personal circumstances”; ii) he has cunningly uncovered a terrible truth: I am an advovate of ultraviolence. Well, that’s what our amateur neo-Nazi filmmaker reckons anyway.

On Stormfront, Proud to be an Infidel (Hodges, presumably) somewhat breathlessly breaks his silence by announcing that I “support utter lawlessness and destruction” and approve of the murder of Jean-Jacques Le Chenadec: “a retired Renault employee who was the only fatality of the 2005 civil unrest in France“. (He died in a coma while in hospital on November 7 after fracturing his skull, an injury which resulted from falling over and hitting the ground after being struck by a youth on November 4. Jean-Jacques had been attending to a burning trash can outside his apartment building in Stains at the time.)

Actually, Hodges maintains that I’m a “pretendy anarchist” (ouch!) who likes nothing better than to “sit in [my] comfortable western lifestyle” while “inciting others” — like, presumably, rioting French youth — to “violent confrontation”. This, according to Hodges, is “real” anarchy; whereas Reclaim the Streets is “safe” anarchy, “where socialists get to show off their dancing and bongo playing skills”! (Well, it may be obvious that he’s never attended an RTS action, but at least he’s got a sense of humour… which I imagine is quite a plus if you’re a neo-Nazi and you look like Hodges does.)

That said, there’s a few flaws in Hodges’ argument:

1) My entry on the French riots was not, as far as I’m aware, published and distributed by a group of other anarchists to the ‘gangs of youth’ in question who, having received their orders, then proceeded to riot. In fact, until very recently, I doubt it would have been read by anyone apart from myself and my housemate! Still, the world really is an amazing place, so — who knows? — maybe French authorities will blame me for the 8,973 vehicles torched and 126 police injured during the 20 nights of rioting. 2) This entry was published on November 6. The riots began on October 27, peaked on November 7, and had largely ended by November 16/17, at which point the French authorities introduced martial law.

3) Hodges fails to mention that my entry contains versions of this message in English, Russian, Greek, Dutch, French, English (again) and French (again). Well, sort of. They’re all machine translations of the text of the ‘open letter’. Further, the bombastic tone is a conscious parody of similar ‘open letters’, and alludes to previous events in French history. But to appreciate this, you’d need not only a sense of humour, but a sense of history too: both virtues that Hodges sadly lacks.

I could go on, but I won’t. Instead, I may add a few links as I encounter them. (In the meantime, read more here.) The events in France in 2005 are certainly worth discussing, but as far as I can see, there’s little point in engaging in dialogue with neo-Nazis like Hodges about them.

Recently, someone claiming to be the Queensland organiser for the neo-Nazi Patriotic Youth League — John Drew — felt compelled to inform me that my entry on his Party was “a load of crap” because “I am the PYL organiser for Queensland” and “Patriotism is good for you”.

Well John, I think your politics are shit.

But what exactly is it that’s being organised? What’s a patriot? And why should they be condemned to endure the antics of the youth wing of the fascist Australia First Party?

Well, to join the PYL, you gotta be:

1) “a radical nationalist” (meaning: support a return to a White Australia);
2) be between 18 and 25 years of age and;
3) not offend Parteiführer Stuart McBeth.

For obvious reasons, Drew doesn’t like Greg Roberts: he covers the antics of the PYL and related topics in an unsatisfactory manner. He’s also “middle aged and looks like a British homosexual”. Roberts, on the other hand, is guilty of being opposed to One Nation. “All publicity is good publicity” Drew reckons.

Fair enough!

“One of the most controversial points in Kenneth Rexroth’s life was his relation with Jack Kerouac. He acknowledged Kerouac’s gifts as an engaging autobiographical writer in the tradition of Henry Miller and Thomas Wolfe, but he made such caustic criticisms of his sentimentality, irresponsibility and political cluelessness that many Kerouac fans have never forgiven him (which is one of the main reasons that Rexroth’s significance has been played down in so many accounts of the “Beat era”). I happen to think that most of his criticisms were quite justified, though I will admit that he occasionally goes a bit overboard. See what you think.”

Australia First to re-register as party

The ultra-nationalist Australia First movement is to re-register as a political party.

The far-right group has written to supporters seeking the 500 membership forms necessary to register with the Australian Electoral Commission, The Australian newspaper reports.

It then plans to target federal and local council elections with candidates expected to start campaigning in the next few weeks to keep Australia predominantly white.

“What’s being done in Australia now is a situation where the European identity is being deprecated further, to the point where Europeans will disappear next century,” the newspaper quotes the party’s NSW secretary, Jim Saleam, as saying.

“Under certain circumstances that would be called a genocide, but it’s not, it’s called progress.”

Mr Saleam, who was jailed for three-and-a-half years in 1991 for possessing a firearm and organising a shotgun attack on the home of the African National Congress’ Australian representative, Eddie Funde, denied any personal links to neo-Nazi groups, the paper said.

Australia First, which was de-registered in 2004 for failing to put forward a federal election candidate in four years, has been accused of being linked to the neo-Nazi movement and its members were seen handing out pamphlets at the race riot in Cronulla, the newspaper says.

The group intends to target council seats in four NSW electorates including Sutherland Shire, Marrickville, Coffs Harbour and Newcastle where it also plans to contest the office of mayor.

In addition to Alex Fogerty, Ben Weerheym surely ranks among one of the most deranged fascist writers in Oceania. One of his latest entries dementedly denounces the “sham” work of “jewish scientist” Jared Diamond. Genius or madman, his tone is one I think most sane people would find hard to duplicate — Baxter Basics‘ juvenile delinquent son? Ravey Davey Gravy turned net-Nazi…? — but which I guess Weerheym intends to convey his profound contempt, as a Proud Ayran Scientist, for Diamond’s “perverse and corrupt” work.

P.T. Barnum said that there is a sucker born every minute, well it seems that with… Jews [like Diamond] there is a charlatan selling the snake oil born every minute.

Let’s consider that for a moment, shall we?

According to Weerheym, Guns, Germs and Steel:
