Cutting Edge: Secrets, Sources And Spin

“This film examines recent first amendment battles between the Bush Administration and the press in America. How much can the press reveal about secret government programs in the war on terror without jeopardizing national security? It explores today’s high-profile debates over the roll [sic] of the press, including clashes between journalists and the government over whether or not a reporter has the right to keep a source confidential. In the summer of 2003, the news media were [*cough*] raising questions of Saddam Hussein’s weapons regime [*cough*] just as news about the war grew more violent by the day. New critics emerged, and there were more questions over whether or not the Administration overstated the problem of WMD.”

The film is presumably either Part I or Part II of the Frontline series called News War, broadcast on US TV in February 2007. I caught a brief glimpse of the ad, and it appeared to feature Josh Wolf, the US journalist whose imprisonment for contempt for refusing to hand over to police video footage that he shot at a demonstration in San Francisco in January 2005 was completely ignored by Australian media until his final release in April of this year, when one article appeared in The Age. And, of course, at the same time that the liberal broadsheet was playing the new game from Victoria Police called ‘Spot the Person of Interest’.

In other news, Bangladeshi journalist Tasneem Khalil, who in May of this year was arrested and tortured by Bangladeshi police, has been forced to flee the country. The following is a letter, dated August 4, from his wife:

Dear All,

This is Shuchi, Tasneem’s wife. I mailed you after Tasneem’s arrest. Now I am mailing you to let you know that I am personally thankful to all of you as you circulated the news of his arrest as much as you could and helped your best to free him. As for some strategical and safety issues Tasneem is maintaining a level of silence for some time I am thanking all of you on his behalf.

It took all of us 22 hours to get him out of [Directorate General of Forces Intelligence — Bangladeshi ‘intelligence’] HQ. And we as a family will always remember what have all of you done for us. It was exactly 12:45 am 10th May midnight and from that point on the whole thing started. Tasneem had been working on a project with Human Rights Watch that month with two other researchers. One was out of Dhaka and another came to my rescue from my flat where I was all alone with my six month old son then. I started calling people and tried to spread the word as much as possible. All I knew I can’t let this go this way. I knew Tasneem had friends who would fight for him. And I mailed you. I mailed using his Gmail account as I knew the pass but after a few hours I saw I couldn’t log in. Later I came to know from Tasneem he had to surrender his email passwords. To some of you I could reply earlier and to some of you I couldn’t. I am sorry for this. I should have thanked all of you earlier.

After getting out of detention we were in hiding for a month, always changing places and by this time Human Rights Watch was negotiating with the authorities for his passport. After long negotiations we flew out of Bangladesh for safety abroad. And trust me it was not easy. I dunno how many of you can think of life as running away with a six month old kid and no money.

I was deeply hurt to see some false news against Tasneem using and fabricating his emails and statements given while being tortured. I was always his partner in everything he did and never I saw him in anti-Bangladesh activities. I was also surprised to see that DGFI is basically trying to defocus the whole issue by using these fabricated news and tr[ying] to create confusion between the huge circle of friends Tasneem has. They chose a few people’s name whom and whose family members are deeply respected by me and Tasneem and have always supported us, and planted provocative news around media saying things which was never there. Although I was concerned at some point that as we weren’t in any position to speak and defend ourselves, we would be misunderstood. But thanks to all of you, you are the people who knew the difference between truth and false.

I would always be grateful to Human Rights Watch, CNN, Bloggers in Bangladesh and International platforms, Drishtipat, Somewhere in Blog, Newspapers around the world and everyone who received my call at odd hours and tolerated my screams and shouts.

Anyways I just wanted to thank everyone and with the promise that this effort you have put after Tasneem will not be wasted. Although we are still homeless, lost our country, this very incident has made Tasneem more stronger and with all your best wishes we will survive definitely. I hope Tasneem will surface very soon with the truths he needs to say and to clear away any confusion created.

Keep us in your prayers.

Shuchi.

Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those f@#$ing c%^&s who trespass against us

‘We all make mistakes. It’s time to forgive’ reckons literati Peter Craven (The Age, August 3).

The fucking fool.

Brendan Shanahan, on the other hand, wants to ‘Thank heaven for mad priests’ (NEWS.com.au, August 3).

Arsehole.

In the meantime, the man in the hot seat, the Very Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron, has left Melbourne for Sydney, where Carly Crawford caught up with him. In her article, ‘Melbourne’s swearing priest speaks out’ (August 4), Geoff claims that he and other staff at St Patrick’s have been the subjects of a four-year long campaign of harassment by a mob of local skaters, of which the YouTube video captured only a much later — tho’ admittedly unfortunate — outburst. Speaking on behalf of the Melbourne archdiocese, Vicar-General Monsignor Les Tomlinson claims skaters have caused $32,000 damage to Church property (presumably over roughly the same period). In essence then, the Church argues that it’s important to place the padre’s sermon in context, and that context is a priest at the end of his tether.

Like, for the third time…

The sympathies of most commentators seems to rely, ultimately, on their ability to identify with one or other of the parties captured on video: aged priest or teenaged skateboarder. This propensity, in turn, seems to depend on factors such as age, degree of religiosity, and the sense of being either ‘for’ or ‘against’ the earthly authority embodied in such figures as the potty-mouthed priest. Many of the more excitable of his supporters, such as those to be found on Stormfront, remind me of a couple of poems by the Bard of Salford, John Cooper Clarke.

And here they are.

    Bunch of Twigs

in the isle of man there are no louts
they’re all down the dungeons dishing it out
    think them tough but tender
    with a bunch of twigs
    and a young offender

    old men with purple necks
who tell you sport is better than sex
    rejuvenate an old pudenda
with a bunch of twigs and a young offender

sweet little fifteen on a summer hike
    vandal maimed, vandal spite
    vandals sent to up above
a punishment meted out with love

    The Isle of Man

    ex-RSMs with purple necks
a nose for trouble and kinky sex
    rejuvenate an old pudenda
    with a bunch of sticks
    and a young offender

where are the weirdos, thugs, and louts
down in the dungeons dishing it out
    their politics would recommend
a bunch of sticks and a young offender

    authority its use perverts
    submission to it always hurts
the cops and the church and the house of keys
bring back the birch for bums like these

Slammy: Presente!

Slammy ascended to Valhalla on July 30, 2007 from his family home in Whakatane, Aotearoa / New Zealand.

It’s with great sadness that FDB says farewell to William “Slammy” Edwardson, known as Harry 20 on FDB. Slammy was involved with FDB from its inception, and died on Monday July 30 from pancreatic cancer, aged 41. It’s no exaggeration to say that Slammy was known and loved by many; his farewell “Ascension to Valhalla” gig, held a couple of weeks before his death, was attended by over 300, even though advertising was primarily by word-of-mouth. His tangi was held at the marae of his whanau in Whakatane, and he was buried in the marae urupa. Slammy was descended from one of the earliest marriages between Maori and Pakeha, his great-great grandmother was from Whakatane, and his great-great grandfather was from Norway.

Slammy had been a stalwart of the punk scene for the last 25 years, sporting at times the hugest of mohawks and cone spike hairdos. His involvement in punk rock led to a few run-ins with boneheads. In recent years he became involved in campaigning against the National Front, which in turn led one NFer to issue a threat to kill him. In true Slammy style his reply was to give the guy his home address and request he try to carry out his threat. He never did.

Arohanui from us at FDB to the Edwardson whanau; it’s been an honour for us to have known your son/brother/uncle/nephew.

I first got into punk back around ’82. I’d watch Radio with Pictures [1977–1986] on Sunday nights (Barry Jenkins, later on Karen Hay then Dick Driver) and they’d play hard out shit like Venom and Kreator as well as The Clash, The Sex Pistols, The Damned, Siouxsie and the Banshees, No Tag, Unrestful Movements, Flesh D-Vice etc..

The way I got into punk was when one day we were walking back from soccer and one of the lads said “hey, what shall we get into?” Someone suggested reggae but at the time the only people really into reggae were stoners, gang members and Rastarfarians (strangely enough…). Then someone else suggested punk rock… They looked at me and I said… “yeah, sounds good to me…” and that was that. The other guys didn’t really last long at it. After a year or so they turned to the Alt/Nightclub scene, but once I’d said that I’d be a punk, that was it for me. A couple of the guys ended up in the Hallelujah Picassos.

Being a punker in Whakatane in the early ’80s meant being able to run fast (‘cos a lot of people hated you and wanted your leather jacket), being snobbed by your relations and the usual hassles from the cops/gang members. I was into Crass, Disorder, The Exploited (we spraypainted a huge ass ‘EXPLOITED’ on the Whakatane Baths wall! It must of been like 20′ long… hehehe), Undead (the Brit punk band), Dead Kennedys, The Violators, Abrasive Wheels, PTTB, Varukers, One Way System, Blitz, 4-Skins, Infa-Riot, Vice Squad and my fave, Action Pact. The local record store (music was on vinyl in them days… LOL) was damn good at getting punk stuff in. I’d hit them every dole day and then I scored a job which boosted my vinyl collection and sustained my pot stash. I’d get fucked up stoned and lay on the floor with the speakers up to my ears singing my heart out to Brit punk, oi! and the Dead Kennedys! They also had a video copy of The Decline of Western Civilisation which is a must see for anyone wanting to see American hardcore back in the day. Henry had just joined Black Flag…

My first mohawk was cut for me by the Black Power/Mangukaha (willingly! a few of my relations were members…). My mom had threatened me with banishment but that urged me on even more! She turned up just after I had it done and I just smiled at her… she didn’t banish me… meh…

The first punk band I saw was The Plastic Pegs (AK) who played at the Ohope community hall (now gone). I was fucked up on straight vodka (ahhh… vodka…) when the pigs showed up and closed the show down but not until the band thrashed out A.C.A.B.! Then they made people tip out their alc… bastards! I then went home, munched out, and threw up on my records… tho’ I didn’t realise it ’til the morning…

Back then there was a magazine called Punk Lives! I’d buy two issues every month, one for posters and one to stash. That was a major impetus for me to journey to Tauranga and Rotorua to hit record shops for punk releases. We’d collect anything that was punk. Any mag that had any reference to punk, we scored it if we could. Safety pins, chains, studs, badges adorned my black clothing or bleached Levis, red braces and army jacket. Combat boots or Doc Martens were the footwear of choice. ‘tho I did have a pair of snazzy black and white checkered sneakers for skanking into The Specials, The Beat, Selecter…

I went back to school one day to drop off my books with a mate of mine. We noticed a few of the bros checking us out so we started to leave. By the time we got to the school gates, there were like 20 bros telling us ‘punk sucked’ and they were gonna ‘kick our punk heads in’! I yelled out “Fuck you, you black cunts!” (Hey, they started it…) then me and my buddy ran… hotly pursued by several of my relatives… Fuck them… Rude bastards!

A few [Hawkes Bay] skins were around then. I got on it with them a few times and they seemed like good guys. Years later, in Auckland, I found out what a buncha shits they were…

Mainly, I’d go to work (I had to wear a hat at work in case my mohawk caused the old folks to have a heart attack… grrr), go home, get stoned, listen to music. On the weekends I’d hang around with my mate who was into ska or my punk bro (punk bro had a g/f tho’ so he was usually with her…). Sometimes we would go to metal head parties and listen to AC/DC while the bogans called us ‘brush-heads’. Then we’d go to the local church and pig out on Milo and toasties, the price of which is that they would try to convert you… (didn’t fuckin’ work tho’! Hah!).

Out of town Black Power from Ruatoki would pull up to us and tell us to “Come here punk scum” and we’d run so fast! They tried to run me over once so I wasn’t gonna have anything to do with them. I did have school buddies in the Junior Blacks so they would help us out with the bogans/bros/anyone if they were around, so it was pretty safe between our ability to sprint and them. It wasn’t too bad apart from being called punk weirdo, cop hassles, running exercises and surfer scum…

Lots more on PunkAs, ‘New Zealand punk ska and hardcore forum’.

British Soldiers Go On Home

British military operation in North ends at midnight
Dominic Cunningham
The Independent
July 31, 2007

THE withdrawal of British troops from the streets of the North represents an historic advancement following generations of an Orwellian nightmare of oppression, leading Belfast republican Gerry Kelly said yesterday. But Unionist politicians praised the contribution made by the soldiers in bringing political peace and stability to the North after being deployed there for 38 years.

At midnight tonight all military personnel will be recalled to their barracks, bringing to an end Operation Banner, the longest continuous campaign in British army history. Over 300,000 soldiers served in the North – with 763 killed by direct paramilitary action – during the deployment, often in the most bitterly controversial circumstances. From tomorrow the number of troops will be reduced to a “peacetime” garrison of around 5,000.

Mr Kelly, a former IRA prisoner who was jailed in 1973 for his part in the Old Bailey bomb plot in London and now a junior Sinn Fein minister at Stormont, said the latest development was hugely significant.

During the early ’70s, when he was on the run, Mr Kelly said, details of nearly every working-class Catholic’s home was held on computers, with people being stopped by soldiers and asked to describe the colour of the wallpaper in the house they were staying. “They had it on file. They used to walk into houses at night and count everyone there – from babies up – to keep check,” Mr Kelly said. “When you talk about Orwell’s book ‘1984’, this was real Big Brother stuff big time,” he said. “The harassment was so in your face. These are emotive words but it was oppressive in a very personal way. That’s the type of thing that was put under the banner of counter-intelligence,” the North Belfast Assembly member said. But, he claimed, this was simply a repetition of the tactics used by the British army in every arena in the world where they went as a colonial power.

Senior DUP politician Jeffrey Donaldson said the political progress that had been achieved would not have been possible but for the contribution of the British army. “I believe the army has achieved its objective in Northern Ireland in supporting the police in combatting terrorism.”

Note that during its most recent (and still ongoing) military occupation of Northern Ireland / the Six Counties, the British state conducted some path-breaking experiments in sensory deprivation on Republican prisoners, often on those held without trial. Prisoners were subjected to hooding, wall-standing, white noise, sleep deprivation and various other techniques designed to destroy their sense of self, and hence their ability and willingness to resist British authority. This form of state terrorism is also intended to have instructional value, the lesson being that those who defy state impositions will be destroyed, and so joining in any kind of collective resistance is rendered that much less attractive.

One of the obvious advantages of such techniques, over and above cruder forms of torture, is legalistic: it allows the people authorising such uses of force to do so while claiming that they do not support ‘torture’ (while at the same time, as in the case of US Vice President Dick Cheney, seeking legal approval to do just that).

Writing in The Guinea Pigs (Penguin, 1974, Minuteman Press, 1981), John McGuffin (1942–2002) defines sensory deprivation as follows:

Sensory deprivation (SD) refers literally to the artificial deprivation of the senses – auditory, visual, tactile and kinesthetic. In connection with the Northern Ireland ‘guineapigs’ it meant (1) hooding prisoners prior to their interrogation; (2) constant use of a sound machine which produces ‘white noise’, a high pitched hissing, mushy sound; (3) long periods of immobilization, being forced to lean against a wall, legs wide apart with only the fingertips touching the wall; (4) little or no food or drink; and (5) being forced to wear loose overalls, several sizes too big. In addition, (6) prisoners were deprived of sleep for days on end; while not technically SD this accentuates the process. There is a purpose behind all these actions. Measures (1), (2), (3) and (5) cause visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile deprivation while measures (4) and (6) deprive the brain of oxygen and sugar necessary for normal functioning. In addition, measures (1), (4) and (6) may disturb the normal body metabolism.

No doubt US authorities have learned a great deal from their British counterparts in this exciting field, and sensory deprivation also no doubt continues to prove to be a technique of great utility in the never-ending War on Terror™.

Go on home British soldiers go on home
Have you got no fucking homes of your own?
For 800 years we’ve fought you without fear
And we will fight you for 800 more

2) Dean Gets YouTubed
Some (Michael Richards or former Sen. George Allen, to name a few) might argue that we were better off a couple years back before YouTube caught every foot-into-mouth insertion. The latest victim of our modern age is the Rev. Msgr. Geoff Baron, Dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne, who was filmed unleashing a “torrent of expletives and racist abuse” on a group of young skateboarders outside his cathedral. That very un-Christian outburst of course found its way onto the popular video sharing site, and Baron is now on leave.

GEOFF Baron, the suspended Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne, has gained international fame for his foul-mouthed, racist and tasteless outburst at a group of skateboarders last year. Footage of the incident made it on to YouTube and resulted in the potty-mouthed priest being stood down. An article about Baron was the fourth most read item on the Guardian Unlimited website yesterday and more than 17,000 people have watched the video.

Now this is in no way reflective of the Catholic Church as a whole, but it’s difficult not to raise a smile when a man of the cloth is caught red-handed misbehaving. Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron, the dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne, has just been suspended after a video was posted on YouTube of him entering into a foul-mouthed racist rant at some teenage skateboarders trespassing on his church’s property…

The Most Dangerous Men In Australia

Well, according to ZOO (Issue 75, August 6, 2007, pp.40-44) anyway, are:

Dävid Palmer, Imperial Wizard of the Australian Ku Klux Klan : THE NEO-NAZI!
David Innes, anti-immigration writer and radio DJ : THE WHITE SEPARATIST!
John Drew, Australia First Party : THE ANTI-IMMIGRANT ACTIVIST!

Australia is proud of its multiculturalism and fair-go attitude for everyone, no matter where they’re from. But recently there has been an increase in right-wing activity across the whole country, from a Ku Klux Klan recruitment drive in Geelong (“We just want to promote our own race, which is the white race”, one leader, called the Exalted Cyclops Brian told the Geelong Advertiser) to protestors calling Townsville the “Ku Klux Klan capital of Australia” over “the black deaths in custody” trial of Queensland copper Chris Hurley.

Th foiled terror attacks in London and Glasgow, and the arrest of foreign-born Gold Coast doctor Mohammed Haneef, heightens the risk of inflaming tensions still running high since the race riots that gripped Sydney in December 2005.

Most people would say that anyone who calls Hitler their hero must be a deranged lunatic, and yet One Nation’s now-thwarted success and the Cronulla riots show how just a handful of right-wing extremists can deeply influence the wider community. With this year’s federal election fast approaching, what effect will this bizarre racist rhetoric produce?

ZOO spoke to three of Australia’s most extreme white supremacists — not to promote their views in any way, but to uncover the depths of hatred still clearly present in Australia.

ZOO also spoke to two anti-racism activists who dedicate themselves to combating this kind of race-based paranoia: Cam Smith, from anti-racism group Fight Dem Back, formed in 2005 to expose neo-Nazis in Australia and New Zealand; and Jeremy Jones, the Director of Community Affairs for the Jewish Affairs Council, who has been writing about extremist groups for 20 years.

Palmer calls himself ‘Der Führer’ and his ambition is to rid Australia of multicultural ‘mongrels’ and Jews…

“Jews and other races are destroying our nation by interbreeding. It destroys our Australian Anglo-Saxon European base culture. We call it multi-mongrelism.

The KKK appeals to people because the hoods provide anonymity to our members who are lawyers, policemen, teachers and tradesmen. We integrated KKK members with the Australian Nazi Movement, which I formed, to make the National Socialist Defence of Australian People. The NSDAP is against non-European immigration…”

What his critics say:

“The self-proclaimed leaders of Australia’s extreme right are a motley collection of under-achievers who deal with their personal inadequacies by trying to make life miserable for others. Sometimes they adopt the clothes and insignia of ratbag organisations from other countries and other historical contexts, and it is easy to see why the Australian Ku Klux Klan is viewed as a handful of thugs wearing clown suits. They seem deaf to the irony of purporting to be Australian nationalists when they adopt Nazi rhetoric — we fought against the Nazis, in case they have forgotten.

Racist activity in Australia rises and falls but every few years, these pathetic individuals emerge from the sewers of Australian society, seek and fail to make political or social inroads, argue among themselves over who is the real führer, then disappear. When active, however, their words intimidate, threaten and take away from the quality of life of whichever group they target.” ~ Jeremy Jones, Director of Community Affairs for the Jewish Affairs Council

David Innes goes by the name “Baron Von Hund”. Ran the Downunder Nationalist Resource website, and broadcast a white nationalist radio show over the net until last month…

“We’re losing our nation. By 2025 we’ll be close to being a minority in our own country. Every creed on earth deserves a place to call their own. I’d like immigration reduced.

We were working just fine under the White Australia policy until the capitalists decided we needed a greater workforce and cheaper labour. I’m fearful that Asians are slowly outnumbering the European traditional people, the majority, who built this nation…”

What his critics say:

“Innes is off his rocker. I’m surprised he agreed to be interviewed by ZOO. He usually denies having anything to do with any of this. I asked his wife, I said to her ‘I’m white. If I was a nationalist, could I call myself a white nationalist?’ and she said ‘No, you have to be racist’.

By definition, theirs is a racist ideology. All of his numbers to justify his arguments, Innes has just pulled out of his arse. I’m sure when we were fighting against the Nazis, we weren’t fighting for neo-Nazism. It’s ridiculous.

This country is a multicultural country and that’s not going to change through their hate propaganda or acts of low-level violence and harassment. Such as the attempt by a convicted white supremacist called Jack van Tongeren, leader of the Australian Nationalist Movement, who tried to drive all Asians out of Western Australia by fire bombing Chinese restaurants in the ’80s.” ~ Cam Smith, activist from anti-racism and anti-Nazi group Fight Dem Back

John Drew is an activist and campaigner for the Australis First Party, whose ambition is a new White Australia policy; former state policy coordinator for One Nation in Queensland…

“One Nation dumped me because of my radical ideas. They wouldn’t endorse me for a seat, so I joined the more radical Australia First.

I wanted to abolish all funding of Aboriginal policies in Queensland, just hand it all to the Commonwealth. I wanted to abolish the state office of multicultural affairs. I don’t believe in multiculturalism, simple as that…”

What his critics say:

“John Drew is off his nut. He’s involved in the Patriotic Youth League, the Australia First youth division, yet he’s in his 50s; he’s a bit old to be involved in a youth group.

The worst aspect of what they do is corrupting young minds with right-wing rubbish they know isn’t right. They indoctrinate their own children, if they have them. They have long-term plans where every action they take is directed towards preparing for a ‘race war’.

They’re a dangerous minority, whose material is appealing to young people.

Youngsters are initially attracted to these fringe groups because of the messages they give out but when they realise the truth, that it’s not really a Jewish immigration conspiracy that’s causing problems, for instance, why they can’t get a job or why they’re not doing well in school, they can’t get out of these groups easily.” ~ Cam Smith

Update : The story of the racist, potty-mouthed priest from Melbourne has now also been picked up by Reuters: Catholic dean on leave after YouTube outburst. The story itself is typically garbled but, given the recent treatment of Indian national Mohammed Haneef by Australian authorities, no doubt of interest to an Indian audience in terms of establishing the racial climate in Australia…

Priest in new swearing footage
Herald Sun
August 1, 2007

MORE footage has emerged of Melbourne’s priest cursing and abusing skateboarders.

Last night, Monsignor Geoff Baron was stood down as dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral following his racist and obscene tirade against a group of young skateboarders who had abused and threatened him. Catholic Archbishop Denis Hart suspended Monsignor Geoff Baron indefinitely. Shortly after the church made its announcement, new mobile phone footage of the priest abusing young skaters emerged…

Skater Kyle Brophy, 18, said the priest had a terrible temper and had recently chased him down the street with a broom. “I wasn’t even on the church grounds that time. I was just skating past on the footpath,” Mr Brophy said. The Lilydale man said the priest had used foul language on other occasions, and in front of teenage girls. But he said his friends never wanted Monsignor Baron to lose his job. “I do feel sorry for him. I’m not happy that he’s been suspended and I don’t think any other skater wanted that to happen. I think it’s very sad,” Mr Brophy said. “He’s obviously got some problems in his life that he needs to deal with.”

Another skater, Eltham teen Matt Leigh, told how his own encounter with the priest turned nasty. “He asked us kindly to leave, very rationally,” Mr Leigh wrote on a skater website. “Then as we were walking away he just became possessed, yelling ‘Get the f— off the property’. “He ran at me and tried to hit me over the head with a magazine.”

Intellectuals on Stormfront on Geoff Baron

“The three-minute and 20 second video Priest Kickout attracted 43,118 hits. Last week it appeared on other video sites and blogs, including the Australian forum in white supremacist website Stormfront, where members praised the priest for racially abusing Asians among the skaters. One member called Bloodraven likened the priest’s actions to “Jesus cleansing the temple”.” ~ Priest regrets outburst but won’t say sorry, Barney Zwartz and Chris Johnston, The Age, August 1, 2007

Barney and Chris also note that the video has been removed from YouTube; failing to note that it has re-emerged, both on YouTube but also elsewhere (for example, Break and LiveLeak). For better or for worse, the genie is well and truly out of the bottle.
