Of all the gossip spewing out of the imminent Madonna divorce, the most poignant item is that the 50-year-old pop star is enraged with estranged husband Guy Ritchie because he told her she “looked like a granny” on stage. The granny comment is reported to be part of a “dossier” of unhusbandly conduct by Ritchie, 40, which has been put about by Madonna’s lawyers and presumably leaked to the media as part of a tit-for-tat soap opera that does little for the dignity of either spouse, but much for the entertainment of the masses in hard economic times…

Ex-communist lacks ‘balance’ on history curriculum: Kroger
Julian Drape
National Indigenous Times
October 22, 2008

CANBERRA, October 22, 2008: The fact the man charged with suggesting a new national history curriculum for the Rudd government was once a communist affects his ability to be “balanced”, a Liberal senator has claimed. Victorian senator Helen Kroger made the claim during a education Senate estimates hearing. She said she was concerned historian Stuart Macintyre – “a chief protagonist in the history wars” – was a communist during his student days. “Professor Stuart Macintyre was certainly a communist,” Senator Kroger said. “While I respect that everyone should have the opportunity to form their own views on the history of our great country, what concerns me is that the working group under him is one that reflects broad academic sentiments … so that a balanced position is taken.” There needed to be “divergent academic views” shaping the national curriculum.

Prof Macintyre quit the Communist Party in 1979 before joining the Labor party.

The Melbourne University academic is head of the government’s history advisory group, which last week released a draft history curriculum discussion paper. He was appointed by the interim National Curriculum Board. The history paper suggested a greater emphasis on world history with less focus on Australia. The states and territories have agreed to implement a uniform curriculum from 2011.

Labor senator Kim Carr, representing Education Minister Julia Gillard, was quick to defend Prof Macintyre’s “qualifications to undertake this work”. Senator Kroger’s concern that only one view of history would be taught as a result of the discussion paper was completely wrong, he said. “For you to become excited that a pre-eminent Australian like Prof Macintyre should have a role to play in the development of the curriculum is misplaced,” Senator Carr said. “You don’t have anything to fear. If anything was unbalanced it was the (previous) HoWARd government’s approach to the teaching of history.” – AAP

Macintyre is also the author of The Reds: The Communist Party of Australia from Origins to Illegality, Allen & Unwin, 1998. It was awarded The Age Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award in 1998. Reviews: David W. Lovell (Centre for Independent Studies), Learning From the Communist Experience?, Policy, December–February 1998–1999; Mike Head, An apologia for Stalinism, wsws.org, June 16, 1999. Professor Macintyre can often be found stalking the Parkville campus carrying a big red flag, selling copies of The Guardian, and exhorting students to burn the Library and storm Parliament.

‘Last stand’ for logging activists
Andrew Darby
The Age
October 23, 2008

FOREST activists who survived a violent attack by loggers in Tasmania’s old growth Upper Florentine valley will return for what they say is a make-or-break summer of protest…

The f@#$ing logger with a m*&^%$f@#$ing sledgehammer gives that c%^t Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron a run for his f*&^ing money:

He’s a rude boy.

Forest activist Ula Majewski says the contractor also attacked a blockade with a sledgehammer, as another forest contractor watched on. Ms Majewski says the man is not seriously injured but he will be reporting the attack to police. “Violence of this kind is usually perpetrated by a very small minority of logging contractors but we would like logging contractors to focus their anger on companies like Gunns Ltd who continue to support an economically unsustainable logging industry,” she said.

Well I come from a long long line
Of tree falling men
And this company town was here
Before my grandpappy settled in
We kept enough trees a-standin’
So our kids could tow the line
But now a big corporation came and bought us out
Got us working overtime

CHORUS
But tell me
Where are we gonna work
When the trees are gone?
Will the big boss have us wash his car
Or maybe mow his lawn?
I’m a man, I’m a man, I’m a lumberjack man
But I fear it ain’t for long
Where are we gonna work
When the trees are gone?

Now these corporate mergers
Make no sense to me
But they got this junk bond debt to pay
So we’re clear-cutting down the trees
Now that old fishin’ hole
Where I used to take my son
We trashed it out last Monday morn’
Oh Lord, what have we done?

CHORUS

Now these Wall Street money men
They got me mad
I’ve got a family to feed and falling trees
Is the only job I ever had
Say now folks, we just can’t stand here
While this slash and burn goes on
We’ve got to slow down this big corporation
Before all the trees are gone!

Chicago (IL) – Last Friday, an 18 year old man from New Jersey pleaded guilty to federal computer hacking charges for his participation in a denial of service attack against the Church of Scientology websites. This was part of the efforts of hacker group Anonymous…

Poor kid. The Smoking Gun reported his initial arrest on October 17, as did Wired: ‘Anonymous’ Member Unmasked, Charged With Web Attack on Scientology, Ryan Singel, October 17, 2008. He apparently faces up to 10 years in jail.

The Church has retaliated by making a documentary dedicated to exposing the h8rs of Anonymous.

Nutzis. New Zealand Nutzis.

This weekend a mob of Nutzis calling themselves the ‘Nationalist Alliance’ (NA) is holding a rally outside the Parliament building in Wellington. Among the dignitaries attending this momentous event are local Nutzis Kyle Chapman and Kerry Bolton, and from Australia Dr. James Saleam. (There will also be a surprise guest or two from Australia — stay tuned for more details!) Saleam’s expected visit was preceded last year by Chapman’s address to Saleam’s Sydney Forum, and in April of this year by the announcement of a declaration of common understanding by ‘nationalist’ (fascist) groups in the two countries.

The three key participants named above are funny old fellows. As a yoof, Kyle Chapman burned down the meeting house of a Southland marae and placed a fake bomb on the doors of a girls’ school in Invercargill. As an ‘adult’ bonehead, he helped form the Fascist Union in the late ’90s, and later was the ‘director’ of the National Front. He’s also notorious for his ongoing battles with the English language. On the subject of this weekend’s rally, on the Jew-hating Stormfront website he wrote: “Les than a week to go. Anyone out there who has their testies growing enough to come along and has not made plans yet need to contact us ASAP”. Kerry Bolton is a Satanist and veteran fascist activist, whose voodoo recently resulted in the withdrawal of a student’s paper that he disagreed with from Waikato University. Like Bolton, James Saleam is also a veteran fascist, and has criminal convictions for insurance fraud and organising a shotgun attack on ANC representative Eddie Funde in the late ’80s.

As was the case in 2006, in 2008 the Nutzis are assembling at Top 10 Hutt Park Holiday Park.

“Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party of Australia?”, Or; Campus Watch comes to Australia

As part of their campaign to ‘Make Education Fair’, the Young Tories have compiled a list of academics they claim are guilty of leftist bias. This is in addition to assembling a range of materials intended to establish that University campuses — just as their parents warned them — are Communist-inspired hotbeds of unAustralianism: radical feminism, animal rights, gay rights, trade unionism, socialism, and other, equally new-fangled concepts. In doing so, the Young Tories are following in the footsteps of the right on campuses in the United States, and the program championed by neo-conservative polemicist Daniel Pipes: Campus Watch.

The intent of this page is to showcase a small sample of the academics in Australia, to highlight the prevalence of radical views, the lack of diversity and the use of the education as an ideological weapon. The purpose of this list is to alert students to what they may expect from these academics should they take their courses.

In categories below, we have listed academics who fall into one of several categories

1) Academics in education faculties who believe that education is a legitimate tool for radical activism and social engineering
2) Academics who are members of leftist associations
3) Academics who are activists for left or far left causes, and hold views well outside the mainstream

A common element in academia is the continual obsession with race and minority cultures. This can be seen in the prevalence of ‘Black Studies’ or ‘Indigenous Studies’ centres on campus. Apparently, the only race that can be examined critically is the white race.

Thinkers as well as doers, the Young Tories provide the following analysis of how it is that the Red disease that eats away / all your fortunes day by day, came to exercise political hegemony over Australian Universities:

If you’ve ever wondered why so many academics are militantly left wing, perhaps a little history lesson is in order. Early last century, an Italian communist by the name of Antonio Gramsci theorised that for Socialism to be victorious, it would take what he called a ‘long march through the institutions’ – the family, churches, media, civic organisations and universities must be captured, radically transformed and subverted for the Marxist cause. While academics are entitled to their own political views, many of them are unashamed activists for political and ideological causes, such as radical feminism, animal rights and gay rights.

In this instance, the Young Tories are also taking their cues from the radical right in the US, as found, for example, in the writings of Linda Kimball: ‘Marxist Subversion and Perversion of America’s Youth’ (2006) and ‘Cultural Marxism’, American Thinker, February 15, 2007. The same thesis has been outlined by Bill Lind (‘The Origins of Political Correctness: An Accuracy in Academia Address’, 2000), and has preoccupied much of the ‘neo-conservative’, ‘paleo-conservative’ and radical right for several decades now. The subject is discussed at some length in ‘Reframing the Enemy’ by Bill Berkowitz (Intelligence Report, Summer 2003): “‘Cultural Marxism,’ a conspiracy theory with an anti-Semitic twist, is being pushed by much of the American right”.

Television commentator Pat Buchanan says it is being used to “de-Christianize” America. Washington heavyweight William Lind claims it is turning U.S. college campuses into “ivy-covered North Koreas.” Retired naval commander Gerald Atkinson fears it has invaded the nation’s military academies. Immigration activist John Vinson suggests it aims “to distort and destroy” our country.

“Cultural Marxism,” described as a conspiratorial attempt to wreck American culture and morality, is the newest intellectual bugaboo on the radical right. Surprisingly, there are signs that this bizarre theory is catching on in the mainstream.

The phrase refers to a kind of “political correctness” on steroids — a covert assault on the American way of life that allegedly has been developed by the left over the course of the last 70 years. Those who are pushing the “cultural Marxism” scenario aren’t merely poking fun at the PC excesses of the “People’s Republic of Berkeley,” or the couple of American cities whose leaders renamed manholes “person-holes” in a bid to root out sexist thought.

Right-wing ideologues, racists and other extremists have jazzed up political correctness and repackaged it — in its most virulent form, as an anti-Semitic theory that identifies Jews in general and several Jewish intellectuals in particular as nefarious, communistic destroyers. These supposed originators of “cultural Marxism” are seen as conspiratorial plotters intent on making Americans feel guilty and thus subverting their Christian culture.

In a nutshell, the theory posits that a tiny group of Jewish philosophers who fled Germany in the 1930s and set up shop at Columbia University in New York City devised an unorthodox form of “Marxism” that took aim at American society’s culture, rather than its economic system.

The theory holds that these self-interested Jews — the so-called “Frankfurt School” of philosophers — planned to try to convince mainstream Americans that white ethnic pride is bad, that sexual liberation is good, and that supposedly traditional American values — Christianity, “family values,” and so on — are reactionary and bigoted. With their core values thus subverted, the theory goes, Americans would be quick to sign on to the ideas of the far left.

The very term, “cultural Marxism,” is clearly intended to conjure up xenophobic anxieties. But can a theory like this, built on the words of long-dead intellectuals who have little discernible relevance to normal Americans’ lives, really fly? As bizarre as it might sound, there is some evidence that it may. Certainly, those who are pushing the theory seem to believe that it is an important one.

“Political correctness looms over American society like a colossus,” William Lind, a principal of far-right political strategist Paul Weyrich’s Free Congress Foundation (see group description, in Into the Mainstream) and a key popularizer of the idea of cultural Marxism, warned in a 1998 speech. “It has taken over both political parties and is enforced by many laws and government regulations. It almost totally controls the most powerful element in our culture, the entertainment industry. It dominates both public and higher education. … It has even captured the clergy in many Christian churches.”

The Young Tories’ campaign was launched late last year by the Liberal Party of NSW Division Inc, and has born fruit in the shape of a Parliamentary lemon: the Senate Inquiry into Academic Freedom, headed by lifetime Tory party hack Mitch Fifield. Last week, President of the Australian Young Liberals (Young Liberal Movement of Australia) Noel McCoy, presented the views of the campaign at a public hearing.

The Young Tories are not exactly strangers when it comes to the subject of controversies surrounding ‘radical feminism’, ‘gay rights’ or racism: At the 2007 Federal Young Liberal Convention “…the Young Liberals likened Aboriginal culture to rubbish and said 40,000 years of Aboriginal history could be ‘taught in one lesson'”. Two years ago, a small mob of rabid Tories chanting “We’re racist, we’re sexist, we’re homophobic” were featured on national television. More recently, in Queensland:

    1) Joshua Young, the University of Queensland student union president, allegedly made [questionable] comments on his MySpace social networking page. According to a copy of the page, Mr Young’s blurb about himself described going to drunken parties and “yelling at confused Asian students”. Mr Young, who has been a prominent Young Liberal, declined to comment at length until he consulted a solicitor, but dismissed the issue as “a political game someone is playing”.

    2) University of Queensland (UQ) women’s collective members discovered racist, sexist and homophobic messages covering the Women’s Room on the morning of September 17. The messages, scrawled over the wall and posters, included: “I hate queers, Asians, Negroes… and women”; “I like cock” and “I love the patriarchy”.

    3) [Joshua Young:] “As far as I am concerned, so long as the language used is not unlawful and no property was damaged, then the incident is a an example of the cut and thrust of student debate and politics. In the interests of keeping the peace though, I have asked for the offending graffiti to be removed.”

Barking.

Leeds Under Threat from ’90s Rap: BPP Takes Courageous Stand (to Popular Acclaim)

The British People’s Party (BPP) are awesome. Formerly known as the ‘White Nationalist Party’, on Saturday October 18, teh bizarros of teh BPP staged a public protest outside a record shop, HMV, in Leeds, England (Land of hope and glory, mother of the free / How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee / Australians all let us ring Joyce / For she is young and free / We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil / Our home is girt by sea / Et cetera et cetera et cetera). The ostensible purpose of the BPP’s rally was to draw the British People’s attention to Ice Cube’s album Death Certificate, his second studio album released in the United States on October 31, 1991 on Priority Records. According to Antifa:

When the ‘British People’s Party’ first announced their plans for an anti-Hip Hop demo in Leeds [August 19, 2008] this coming Saturday [October 18], they boasted of taking back the streets from “the filthy reds”. The architect of the demo, vile Kate McDermody, talked of it being the opening shot in a “Racial Holy War”. As the demo swiftly approaches, and the reality of ‘street politics’ beckons, it is clear that McDermody and her fellow fascist numbskulls are terrified.

The BPP’s budding alliance with elements of the National Front, and with the so-called “Racial Volunteer Force” and “British Freedom Fighters”, lies in tatters. Even McDermody wasn’t thick enough to think that a small group of aging boneheads could protect her from the righteous anger of the people of Leeds. She and BPP dogsbody Kevin Watmough had loose cannon Tony White arrested, and the Toytown Stormtroopers woke up to the fact that they were being sacrificed to McDermody’s ego…

Cruel perhaps, but fair.

In any event, according to reports, the BPP protest was tiny enough to rival the dizzying heights of popularity the (Orstralian) Patriotik Yoof League experienced during its very brief day in the sun. A mad Marxist from a Trotskyist groupuscule, for example, claims a mere eight BPP members and supports attended (mind you, they also claim the BPP is “headed by a man recently imprisoned for making nail bombs and downloading child pornography”; a reference, presumably, to Martyn Gilleard).

The same revolutionary yoof also claims that “Workers Power’s youth group, Revolution, led the demonstration”.

Another account, by sarah_a67, reckons the protest was organised by Love Music Hate Racism. (She also writes that “The police, who had been quite cooperative, stopping cars and stuff on the way, turned nasty when we were standing in the street. I’d not taken part in a march before, nor been at the hands of police brutality, but now I’ve done both.”) LMHR, in turn, writes: “Leeds LMHR & UAF activists were among hundreds in an excellent turnout in Leeds today against a risible protest by the Nazi “British People’s Party” against “black hip-hop”. Report to follow.”

Dave Kirk (of Trotskyist groupuscule, the Alliance For Workers Liberty) claims — correctly, as far as I can tell — that the counter-protest was called by Antifa, and half-heartedly supported by UAF (note that the local Leeds UAF group’s site is dormant). According to Dave, relatively few attended on behalf of UAF, and the majority of those who did take part were young anarchists and socialists (the trade unions having no formal presence). On the other hand, elsewhere the AWL claims that “Workers Power and ourselves [should] take credit for making sure that [the] political level was raised by [our sloganeering] and indeed that the counter-demo took place at all”.

In any event, in the absence of UAF control, the counter-protest was a little more lively than it might otherwise have been, and the 17 — yes, that’s right: seventeen — neo-Nazis organised by the BPP to mope about outside a record shop were massively outnumbered, both by police and their political opposition. Had the BPP not arranged for police protection, it’s highly likely their re-emergence on the streets of Leeds would have been short and sweet. The BPP itself claims “Twenty one, yes a mere twenty one, BPP members and supporters stood tall amongst hundreds of Marxist scumbags in Leeds city centre yesterday.”

Today Leeds HMV; tomorrow, the world!

Among those who attended, in addition to the comical leader of the BPP, Kate (Mc)Dermody, was an 11 year-old grrl. She angrily demanded ‘White Music For White People’ — apparently — although I suspect HMV has sold out of Prussian Blue. Sadly, in disappointing news for spotters, Wigan Mike didn’t brave the Marxist hordes in Leeds: his absence, presumably, an exercise in solidarity with his neo-Nazi comrade Tony White. Unfortunately for Tony, he was recently arrested by police for possession of racist material — allegedly as a result of information supplied to them by the BPP. As for the hundreds of police temporarily recruited by the BPP as their security detail, they came at a price, as the Party’s fuehrer provided ZOG — ZOG! — with the names of all those attending.

As ever, the most entertaining and informative account of the BPP’s practical demonstration of White supremacy on the streets of Leeds is provided by Antifa. In summary: “What we saw in Leeds yesterday was the reality of the BPP’s attempt to “take back the streets”: a pitifully small, ramshackle collection of aging neo-Nazis, hiding behind a huge police presence, not even close to a member of the public, moaning half-pissed to each other for 45 minutes, then scuttling off like a nonce beneath a blanket”. Equally comic is Kate’s take:

After thinking about yesterday I have remembered a few things that I just wanted to mention. First off was Jess, the eleven year old boy who showed us all what pride is all about when he went straight to the front and stood on top of the barrier with a flag flying from his hand and screaming ‘red scum’ at the degenerates gathered ogainst us. He was an absolute inspiration to every Nationalist in this Country.

Brings a tear to your eye doesn’t it?

…and the other mob

Of course, the BPP is merely the poor retarded cousin of the British National Party (BNP), and while Kate (Mc)Dermody may one day be transported to the colonies for her many crimes against common decency, good taste, logic, reason and the English language, Nick Griffin, the BNP’s Fuehrer-for-Life, is in the process of applying for a visa to enter Australia in December. A newly-formed leftist thinktank called Catalyst is calling on the Australian Government to deny Griffin a visa. On October 17 the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship Chris Evans released the following statement to Catalyst, which merely reiterates the legal situation:

All non-citizens who wish to enter Australia must satisfy the requirements of the Migration Act and regulations, including the character test.

The character test includes provisions to ensure that a non-citizen will not vilify, incite discord in or represent a danger to the Australian community, or a segment of that community.

Griffin has not yet applied for a visa. If and when an application is made it will be assessed against the character requirements.

The Labor Party strongly opposes the fostering of extremism, hatred, division and incitement to violence.

Elsewhere, Irfan Yusuf has expressed his opinion on the question ‘Nick Griffin: to visa or not to visa…’, (Crikey/Planet Irf, October 16, 2008).

More Nasty American Psycho Boy ’80s!

More ’80s. Wisconsin’s finest Killdozer perform the original ‘Nasty’, later covered by Janet Jackson:

‘American Psycho’ – the musical
Chris Green
Independent.co.uk Web
September 27, 2008

With his shockingly gory novel American Psycho, Bret Easton Ellis examined the decadence and greed of Wall Street workers during the Ronald Reagan era through the eyes of a self-professed homicidal maniac. Now a musical theatre version is to be created for Broadway…

The novel contains a number of lengthy chapters in which the main character waxes lyrical about his favourite musical acts of the era, including Genesis, Whitney Houston and Huey Lewis and the News. The prominence of Eighties music in the book is assumed to have inspired the Broadway version, and will undoubtedly influence its score, although the project will have to secure the rights to any tracks that it wishes to use…

GENESIS

Patrick Bateman: Do you like Phil Collins? I’ve been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins’ presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don’t you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to ‘Land of Confusion’. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. ‘In Too Deep’ is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I’ve heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like ‘In the Air Tonight’ and ‘Against All Odds’. Sabrina, don’t just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is ‘Sussudio’, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

WHITNEY HOUSTON

Patrick Bateman: Did you know that Whitney Houston’s debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it? Did you know that, Christie?
Elizabeth: [laughing] You actually listen to Whitney Houston? You own a Whitney Houston CD? More than one?
Patrick Bateman: It’s hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but ‘The Greatest Love of All’ is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it’s not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it’s impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It’s an important message, crucial really. And it’s beautifully stated on the album.

Hugh Anthony Cregg III AND THE NEWS

Patrick Bateman: Do you like Huey Lewis and The News?
Paul Allen: They’re OK.
Patrick Bateman: Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in ’83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a more bitter, cynical sense of humour.
Paul Allen: Hey Halberstram.
Patrick Bateman: Yes, Allen?
Paul Allen: Why are there copies of the style section all over the place, do you have a dog? A little chow or something?
Patrick Bateman: No, Allen.
Paul Allen: Is that a rain coat?
Patrick Bateman: Yes it is! In ’87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is “Hip to be Square”, a song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it’s also a personal statement about the band itself.
[raises axe above head]
Patrick Bateman: Hey Paul!
[he bashes Allen in the head with the axe, and blood splatters over him]
Patrick Bateman: TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU FUCKING BASTARD!

Haider: He was a superstar (at the gay bar)

To be young, gifted and black drunk, speeding and gay…

Austrian fascist leader visited gay bar before death crash
PinkNews.co.uk
October 17, 2008

The former leader of the far right in Austria was drinking in a gay bar the night he died, it has emerged.

Joerg Haider had never been open about his homosexuality, but his habit of surrounding himself with handsome blond teenagers had led many to speculate.

Newspapers in his homeland said they were reluctant to publish “full details” of his homosexuality fearing an outburst of hate towards the gay community would overtake hatred towards foreigners. According to German daily Taz, many members of Vienna’s gay scene claimed he regularly had sex with young men below the age of consent – 18 for homosexuals. As a result Taz wrote: “These days he prefers to meet with boys from nearby Slovakia” (where the age of consent is 15).

The German and Austrian press outed the married father of two daughters in 2006.

His fascist political views led him to high office in Austria, despite his open praise for Nazi policies.

Haider died in a car accident on Saturday morning near Klagenfurt, less than 30 minutes after leaving the Stadtkraemer, a well-known gay hangout.

Prosecutors have confirmed there was four times the legal limit for alcohol in his blood and he was driving at twice the legal speed limit when he crashed his VW Phaeton.

Haider, 58, was the Governor of the state of Carinthia.

Thousands of people are expected to attend his funeral today, and police are prepared for clashes with anti-Nazi protesters.

News of Herr Haider’s homosexuality has prompted one local expert to quip ‘Fascism is a fag’. But the truth of the matter is “Whether old or young, lesbian or gay, fascism is never cool”. Funnily enough, Haider combined Ian Stuart’s driving skills with the sexiness of Ian’s best mate and co-founder of Blood & Honour, Nicky Crane: all three are dead now, sadly, although only Ian and Joerg are remembered.
