“Wellington nazis. I hate Wellington nazis.”

The New Zealand National Front (NZNF) held a rally in Wellington on Saturday, October 25. This follows former NF secretary Kerry Bolton‘s successful campaign to have a thesis examining the links between neo-Nazi and Satanic beliefs in New Zealand removed from Waikato University. According to Radio New Zealand, 120 people in total attended the NF’s celebrations of National Flag Day outside Parliament, and 30 police kept the peace. (TV3 reckons 150 people attended.) Other sources suggest that the 120 or 150 people present were fairly evenly divided between decent, flag-saluting, law-abiding white folk, on the one hand, and indecent, law-breaking, flag-burning criminals, on the other.

Aotearoa Indymedia reports:

Anti-fascist activists gathered at the Cenotaph in Wellington this morning in opposition to the Nationalist Alliance, a coalition comprising white-supremacist groups the National Front, New Right and the National Democrats.

A banner was hung from the Cenotaph (“No racism – Anti-Fascist Action”) as around 65 anti-fascists danced and held the Cenotaph as a fascist free space, removing a fascist photographer from the New Right from the area.

The fascists were expected at 11am, however they must have missed their train and finally showed up at 11.30am. Instead of approaching the Cenotaph, they were escorted by police up Molesworth Street to Parliament grounds. There were around 40 fascists present, many of them waving New Zealand flags.

The anti-fascists claimed victory for holding the Cenotaph and charged up the bank to Parliament grounds where a line of police and a metal fence protected the fascists. “More hair than brains”, “No room for racism” and “Hey hey, ho ho, your racism has got to go” were chanted, drowning out all the speeches by the fascists. Jim Saleam, who served time in jail for firebombing a Brisbane bookshop and organising a shotgun attack against a representative of the African National Congress, Steve Larsen from the New Right and Kyle Chapman all attempted to give speeches – without success.

The fascists retreated after about 30 mins and were chased to the train station by anti-fascist activists. Bagels were thrown at them while they were protected by a police line. Two antifa were arrested by police at that point. Following a scuffle, some anti-fascists went to the train station, just in time for 3 fascists to emerge. They were chased across Bunny Street and again had bagels thrown at them. They were protected by a lone cop who tried (and failed) to arrest an antifa, while frantically calling for back-up. All the anti-fascists managed to get away safely and went to the police station, waiting for their comrades to be released.

Once again, the day was a victory for the anti-fascists!

No room for racism!

VC reports:

So here’s how it went down:

The anti-fascist rally at the Cenotaph was already cranking by the time that I got there, 30 or so people at 10 o’clock. We aimed to be there an hour before the boneheads did just to be sure. There was a sound system playing truly cheesy disco hits and about 30 people in black-bloc-meets-circus costumes. There were a few cops around but it wasn’t too heavy.

The train from the Hutt carrying the boneheads was due around 11. They turned up with their customary police escort. The bypassed the Cenotaph entirely and headed to the Parliament lawn around the monument of King Dick Seddon. Ironically, there were quite a few 5′-5’2″ (fully-grown) warriors amongst them.

There was a bit of chanting and general yelling back and forth. As noted, they had their kids out the front in case we threw something. The chants petered out (“more hair than brains” was still the best to date). Individual remarks were exchanged, some wittier than others. Most memorable was “this National Front demonstration was brought to you by the methadone clinic”. Angry Guy was my fave, he was this 5′-nothing pot-bellied aging bulldog of a dude with bodgy tatts and decked out in classic bonehead garb. He kept yelling and giving us the finger, which was very mediapathic for his whole crew.

The assorted boneheads milled around about 10m behind a metal barricade, flanked by Parliamentary Security on one side and cops on the other. When our mob got up the hill and partway up parliamentary lawns, the cops formed a line stopping us another 10m or so short of the barricade. The short, stocky fellow with the Totenkopf on his shirt and the Confederate buckle asked us why we supported paedophiles.

Kyle and Jim made speeches, but the police presence deterred any kind of public attendance other than a few bemused tourists. They snapped a whole bunch of pictures and filmed us for their current Redwatch effort. Some yelled at us to remove our masks, even though there was at least one masked bonehead amongst them.

After a rather brief stay, they made their way back to the train station via the underground tunnel. We got as far as the tunnel entrance, when I had my back turned there was a scuffle and a couple of people got arrested. The cops seemed unnecessarily rough and there was a lot of screaming.

Some people split off and moved down to the main entrance, where we’d spotted three boneheads with a lone cop. We followed them for a bit, bagels or miscellaneous other items were thrown. There was another scuffle, but no arrests. The cop got some back-up there eventually (see the TVNZ footage of the cops running off).

That was pretty much the day, they got the train back out to the Hutt and we went back to whatever we were doing.

As noted, among those in attendance at the rally was Dr James Saleam, Führer of the Australia First Party (NSW Inc.). The ‘Mad Arab’ — as he was once dubbed by his political rivals on the far right — has cobbled together an ‘Alliance’ between his party and various denizens of the far right in New Zealand; principally the National Front, but including the National Democrats and the New Right.

In his usual manner, Herr Doktor opined NZ Flag Day Was A Great Success For The Nationalists: ANZAC Ties Strengthened Between NZ And Australian Nationalists! “…Just under 70 nationalists were confronted by 34 or so anarchists! It is no accident that the rebirth of the two countries as independent realities based upon their Euro culture but with new identities born of history, is opposed here by the same negative forces as would oppose us in Australia. These dross will serve only to delay your victory but not frustrate it. Inside the parliament sit men in suits who would sell out their country, to globalise it. Here protesting are those unclean drugged out ones who would do the exact same thing. How ironic, and yet these out here say they are opposed to those in there. It’s almost scum above and scum below… I reiterated my words [on TV] and said that the NZ movement was professionalising itself as were we in Australia!”

One of Dr Saleam’s former allies is Mark Wilson, who has since jumped ship and joined Saleam’s arch-enimy the Australian Protectionist Party. In this capacity, Mark addressed the BNP’s Red White & Blue festival this year. In 2005, however, Mark was still on good terms with Herr Doktor, and echoed his thoughts on the rabble of rowdy rebels who apparently threatened to close the 2005 Sydney Forum. “Last but not least, there was the threat of “mass demonstrations”. It was said “two thousand screaming leftists”, anti-white racists in fact, were to “shut down” the Forum. Or so said a pro status-quo group of Israel supporters called ‘Fight Dem Back’. A grand total of thirteen (13) sad, brainwashed, pro-system haters eventually turned up to stop us from having our lawful free-speech gathering.”

Boo!

More ominously, Mark noted that “[o]ne important event was the Patriotic Youth League (PYL) national meeting which was held at a very friendly Sydney watering-hole. New young people stepped forward to staff existing branches and start a new one.”

Like the Sydney Forum, the Patriotik Yoof League has gone from strength-to-strength.

White men! White women! The flag is calling you. The sacred and ancient symbol of your race, since the beginning of time. The Jew is using The Black as muscle against you. And you are left there helpless. Well, what are you going to do about it, Whitey? Just sit there? Of course not! You are going to join with us. The members of the Trans-Tasman, National Socialist, White Peoples’ Party. An organisation of decent, law abiding white folk. Just like you!

Uncle Joe For Mayor? Dare to dream!

“Melbourne anarchist Joseph Toscano has also nominated for mayor. Dr Toscano, 56, has run unsuccessfully for the Senate as an independent for the past 30 years.”

Huzzah!

Joe’s team is titled ‘Shifting The Burden’, and includes one other candidate for Deputy Lord Mayor, Margaret Ely. You can meet the “Radical Mayoral Candidates who intend to turn Melbourne Upside Down” midday Wednesday, October 29, outside MELBOURNE TOWN HALL. Joe and Margaret aim to:

• Introduce a 1% trade and financial services tax on businesses in Melbourne that have a yearly turnover of over 100 million dollars.
• Introduce a turnover tax of 10% on Crown Casino.
• Double the rates paid by anyone owning more than twenty million dollars of property in Melbourne.
• Use the money raised to transform Melbourne into a green sustainable, secure city that tackles poverty and homelessness.
• Provide capital to establish worker controlled and owned co-operatives and community based collectives.
• Erect a monument to honour Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner, indigenous freedom fighters executed in Melbourne 1842.
• Give electors the power to recall representatives.
• Harvest community wisdom by holding weekly public meetings.
• Hold citizen initiated referendums.
• Make Councillors responsible for specific wards.
• Make the council bureaucracy accountable to Council, not the State government.
• Provide secure employment for council staff, increase their minimum hourly rate to 25 dollars and decrease their maximum rate to 100 dollars.

Other budding Leadership Teams for Marvellous Melbourne are:

• Fowles A Fresh Vision (Will Fowles and David Wilson) ALP
• McMullin-Wilson For Melbourne’s Future (Peter McMullin and Tim Wilson) ALP
• The Greens (Adam Bandt and Kathleen Malzahn)
• Gary Morgan and Michele Anderson
• C MELBOURNE GROW – CATHERINE NG (Catherine Ng and Terry Makings)
• Robert King Crawford and Michael Kennedy
• ACTIVATE MELBOURNE (Robert Doyle and Susan Riley) Liberals
• PASSION FOR MELBOURNE (Nick Columb and Sue Calwell)
• Gary Singer and Joanne Painter

Will Fowles is a member of the Fowles auction group and an ALP member. Mr Fowle’s Fresh Vision is being articulated by Ozan Ibrisim, a former editor of Monash University’s Lot’s Wife, and Ministerial Advisor to John Pandazopoulos (also a former student hack from Monash). “John Pandazopoulos has served as your hard working Member for Dandenong since he was first elected in 1992”; Fowles is a ‘leftist’. His running mate, David Wilson, is a current Melbourne City councillor.

Peter McMullin is a brave man, who has served Geelong well as a councillor, and, as a mark of his seriousness, owns a house in Melbourne (and plans to move there soon), while at the same time maintaining his Barwon Heads property and remaining a regular visitor to the seaside town. He’s also an ALP hack, formally aligned with the Labor Unity faction, and the heir apparent to the Spotless catering fortune. His running mate, Tim Wilson, is a gay Tory, and works for the corporate think tank the Institute of Public Affairs. Funnily enough, media for the pair is being handled by Robert Larocca, chairperson of the CERES Management Committee.

Gary Morgan is a pollster, and has stated that as Lord Mayor he comes cheap: “the executive chairman of Roy Morgan Research said he would forgo the $143,000 annual allowance as well as other perks of the top job. He would also give up the city limousine and chauffeur that John So has enjoyed for the past seven years.” Presumably, Gary’s saved a few pennies over the years, and will not have to avail himself of Melbourne’s charities for food, clothes and shelter. Of course, owning a restaurant helps.

Catherine Ng and Terry Makings are hot for growth. Growth is good! Also, Councillor Ng “looks forward to working with all Melburnians, from shopkeepers to new residents, to help improve their lives, their businesses and trying hard to solve their problems.” Some of her own problems in the current race for Mayor she lays at the feet of her rivals: “LORD mayoral candidate Catherine Ng has accused her opponents of dirty politics, the first serious spat in the race to lead the City of Melbourne. Cr Ng said she took serious offence at suggestions that her run for mayor was part of a Liberal Party factional play.” Her running mate, Terry, is a former Council employee, Director of Assets and Services, sacked last year.

Robert “King” Crawford was in his teens when he borrowed £90 from his Aunt Ethel, a needlework designer in the Block Arcade, and founded “the first major all-Australian record company”. Another King daubs paint onto canvas. In a totally awesome but possibly unrelated story, this other King appears to have designed a flag: the Australian Flag of Unity. “It is no doubt that the Unity Flag has all the right components to be the flag of our great Nation” wrote some one called Alana Borchtchevskaia. “But unfortunately getting the government to agree is a hard task in deed. Mr. Crawford stated that “the flag will not prevail while John Howard is in power. The government is scared of a flag that means so much.” Since the flag gained popularity the phones at Robert Crawfords residence have been tapped and any support that the flag began to receive from politicians has been quickly extinguished. “The power of the flag, not just the look of the flag, but what it means is everything – and that is what some people fear.”

Running risks is in Nick Columb’s blood. His parents – persecuted by Nazis, then communists – smuggled him out of Romania as a baby in a hidden compartment beneath a train after World War II.

He’s been taking chances ever since.

Pugnacious, confident and intuitive, he went from law school to journalism to public relations before making his first fortune, which he parlayed into a bigger one before the recession of the early 1990s.

On the way, he became an outstanding judge of racehorses, selecting a string of young horses in the 1980s that won him two Caulfield Cups, two Golden Slippers, two Oaks and a Derby.

Columb has chosen to be a lower-key millionaire in recent years, dabbling in property development, investment, and only the occasional $200,000 galloper.

Gary Singer is Deputy Lord Mayor, a law-talking guy, and like all the other VIPs in the Mayoral race, a member of numerous boards and committees. His running mate, Joanne, works for Icon, a PR firm. Icon maintains a simply fabulous blog. “Melbourne’s hottest new PR agency – icon.pr, was officially launched last Thursday 2nd October at Fog Restaurant Bar. Among the guests was international actor Vince Colosimo, fashion designers Gwendolynne Burkin and Roger Grinstead, actor and producer Nick Giannopoulos, writer and presenter Andi Lew, and model Helen Cauchi to name a few. The launch was covered by the Herald Sun’s Confidential section, featuring guests and the event in Saturday’s social pages. Guests indulged in the most delicious canapés and sipped apple martinis that Fog’s head bartender had dreamt up especially for the event. The event was sponsored by many high-end brands including Fog Restaurant Bar, Aveda, Polaroid, Box Magazine, Griffiths Coffee and Hairy Lemon. At the end of the evening, all guests were treated to a gorgeous gift bag filled with fantastic products donated by the sponsors.”

The Greens are The Greens; the Liberals are the Tories.

LEX WOTTON TRIAL: Jury returns GUILTY verdict; Wotton faces up to life in prison
Chris Graham
National Indigenous Times
October 25, 2008

NATIONAL, October 25, 2008: An all-white jury has returned a verdict of ‘guilty’ in the trial of Palm Island leader Lex Wotton for ‘rioting with destruction’. Late last night, the jury delivered its verdict to a Brisbane District courtroom packed with media and friends and family of Mr Wotton. Outside the court, Aboriginal activist and friend of Mr Wotton’s, Sam Watson, told a media scrum that it was “business as usual in the sovereign state of Queensland”…

On the bright side, Senior Sargeant Chris Hurley received a $100,000 payout from the Queensland government for losses he says he incurred from the fire for which Lex Wotton is being sent to prison. He also received a promotion, and had his legal bills largely covered by the Queensland Police Union.

Melbourne Punx Forum : Hello and Goodbye

    Psycho 78, Oct 16, 2008

If it really left andy “…a good deal of time to do other things” one would expect he would, in fact, do other things. However this is clearly not the case as we can see he spends all day sitting on his arse at his computer, finding any excuse he can to demonstrate that everyone’s a nazi…except him.

Bah humbug: in early August I received an email from ‘Psycho 78’ asking me if I was responsible for a posting on the Melbourne Punx Forum implying that I thought she was a slut who deserved to be raped. The email was prompted by the following message in a thread titled ‘Surprise Sex Attack VIC shows Sep 08’ (shane, Aug 18, 2008):

Andy SlackBastard, Aug 22, 2008

Listen you bitches. Women have raped men before, men rape men and women rape women. So why do you hetrosexual [sic] women take offence to [sic] the band`s name? All kinds [sic] of people get raped, not just women. And all kinds [sic] of people commit rape, not just men. Why is the name in bad taste? No one else finds it offensive, just hetro sexual [sic] sluts like you fruit salad and psycho 78. I reckon if a woman gets raped then she deservses [sic] it anyway. The way some sluts dress today with their mini skirts tells me that they`re just asking for it. If you dress like a slut then you ARE a slut and you want it. You only cry rape after sex because you`re embaressed [sic] about being a horny slut so you tell everyone that he raped you. I reckon that this band sound cool and [I] might go along and see them. Hopefully there`ll be some young slut at the gig for me to pick up.

Pretty daft and not really in keeping with my written comments generally, but whoever posted it — and judging by its contents, it was written by a young boy — obviously, if rather ineptly, wanted to create some kind of bad impression. And I would have ignored it — as I have other rather unsubtle online impersonations in the past — if I’d not received the above email. So: just to clear the air, I joined the Melbourne Punx Forum.

“This forum was created at the start of the century to [accommodate] thoughts and discussion between participants [in] the Melbourne punk community”; that is, about 20 years after I started listening to punk music. Most of the discussion concerns upcoming shows and local gossip, with occasional forays into other subject matter. The level and range of opinion is largely indistinguishable from what you might find on any other disco forum, perhaps the only exception being the pronounced conservatism of most commentators.

Aside from an introductory message intended to establish some facts about my participation on the Forum, I made one other post: Anti-fascist Activist Killed in Moscow (October 14, 2008). This simply re-published a recent article by The Other Russia concerning the murder of a SHARP skinhead in Moscow. The stabbing to death of Fedor Filatov (Filatov «Fedjay» Feodor Vasilevich) on October 10 outside his apartment appears to have gone completely unremarked in the English-language press, and has met with mostly indifference on the part of the handful of users of the Melbourne Punx Forum who have commented on this story.

Nowave: “No offence but honestly who gives a shit about some skinhead in Russia.”

The following comment is my final reply to Fruitsalad:

I’m having trouble following your wordsalad. To repeat: I posted an article on the murder of a Russian skinhead and anti-fascist. Your initial response was to assert that this incident needed to be placed in perspective. That perspective is provided, you wrote, by way of the following:

    it’s not good when there is any sort of violence;
    racists would be violent even if they weren’t ideologically motivated;
    someone deleted you as one of their friends on myspace because they said you ‘practiced homosexuality’;
    you’re not cying about this sad reversal of fortune, nor crossing your arms or stamping your feet in pointless protest;
    everyone is entitled to their opinion;
    there is something wrong when people stop other people having a contrary opinion;
    it’s sad to read about the murder but;
    there are more pressing issues in OUR country and;
focusing on this sort of stuff is like Nazis who focus on Europe when they’ve never visited it.

You then provide links to articles on how: a new screening system at Melbourne airport will see through passengers’ clothes; a number of radio shows on ABC are being axed; “Aboriginal children will have to wait for up to three years for the NSW Government to hire five new employees to fight sexual abuse in the state’s west”; and “Christian schools in NSW are teaching creationism or “intelligent design” with little or no monitoring of whether it is being improperly included in science classes in high schools.”

Finally, you opine that “Sex abuse is more important [than] a Russian to our country” and that if I were “serious” I’d “focus on us”.

In subsequent postings, you proceed to outline your thoughts on the meaning and causes of (interpersonal) violence, racism, homophobia, violence, racism and homophobia in contemporary Russia, fascism, the nature of contemporary Australian society — and what you believe to be the most pressing issues facing it — and more besides.

There’s a number of obvious rejoinders to be made, I’ve made them before, I’ll make them again in case you missed them.

First, there’s little in what you’ve written that addresses the subject of the article. What you have remarked upon is demonstrably wrong. Thus you ask: “Why aren’t you [trumpeting] gay and lesbian rights in Russia, when homophobic violence is more [prevalent] there [than neo-Nazi violence is]?” (You also state “If Russians are so interesting to you, move to Russia”, which I think is totally awesome.) You provide no evidence, and presumably know little, if anything, concerning comparative rates of ‘homophobic’ vs. ‘neo-Nazi’ violence in Russia. In any case, the fact that other acts of violence occur, and that these may also be condemned, does not, in and of itself, render the reportage of Fedor’s murder an invalid act — which is what you’re none-too-subtly implying.

Further, I’m not ‘trumpeting’ anything: I’ve simply re-posted an article by ‘The Other Russia’ on the recent murder of a skinhead in Moscow. In reaction, you — for reasons best known to yourself but I assume having less to do with the act itself and more to do with your own misplaced loyalties — have jumped on your high horse and proceeded to gallop across the tundra like a demented Cossack being chased by one of Makhno’s partisans.

In addition, and as I’ve already indicated, in reality, I have referred to ‘homophobic’ violence in Russia, as well as the fact that neo-Nazis practice and advocate extreme forms of violence against homosexuals, and that many anti-fascists oppose this form of violence just as they do other forms of neo-Nazi assault and propaganda. Beyond this, your statement presumes that merely remarking upon, once, the murder of a skinhead, can and should be interpreted as part of a campaign on my behalf to obscure the truth concerning levels of homophobic violence in Russia. This is a highly tendentious argument: if you don’t understand why already, there’s little point in my explaining how.

Secondly, what you have written consist of banalities, trivialities and a large school of Etrumeus teres. This remains the case, however much you pout, cross your arms, or stamp your little feet.

Regarding your subsequent comments:

Redskins

The French redskin movement emerged during the period 1984-86. It was informed by two developments. First, a very difficult economic and political situation, characterised by massive unemployment, the initial introduction into France of neoliberalism, and the simultaneous emergence of a large, extreme right-wing movement, represented most successfully by the Front National (National Front). Secondly, the appearance of an alternative cultural movement (a mix of French punk rock, political protest, and multiculturalism). Around one element of this milieu, Bérurier noir, a new type of security group was created, and put in charge of protecting shows from fascist assault.

Bérurier noir was a French punk band formed in Paris in 1983 by Loran (guitar), François (vocals) and Dédé (drum machine). They called themselves “noir” (black) for the color of mourning (their first concert was intended to also be their last) and for anarchy, and “Bérurier” after the character from the novels of Frédéric Dard.

Many “crews” were subsequently formed in Paris, including the “Ducky Boys” and “Red Ants”, and in Marseilles, the “Marseilles Red Army”. But the first and most important crew of French redskins was the “Red Warriors”, who were a catalyst for the proliferation of militant anti-fascist groups. These groups were collectively known as “nazi-hunters”, because they constantly pursued nazis on the streets, and when they found them, beat them. Moreover, as self-defence groups, they played a major role in protecting trade unions assemblies, squats and public protests from fascist actions.

On an aesthetic level, the redskins cultivated a mix of elements taken from skins (bomber jackets, Doctor Martens boots), the psychobillies (flat top haircuts, red handkerchiefs), and the early B-Boys (baggy pants, baseball caps). Added to this were Native American symbols (belt bags, “Washington Redskins” t-shirts) and proletarian folklore (trucker shirts, jumpsuits). Some followed the style of wearing their bomber jackets inside out, with the orange side on the outside, which originated in the English redskins, but not all followed this trend.

In 1986, French media discovered the existence of redskins in Paris, and footage of their confrontations with police at student demonstrations and violent actions against fascists was shown on TV. The above reportage discusses the violent conflicts between redskins and boneheads. The bonehead featured speaking at the beginning of the report is “Batskin” (aka “Batshit” aka Serge Ayoub), leader of the Jeunesses Nationalistes Révolutionnaires (Nationalist Revolutionary Youth), a neo-Nazi groupuscule linked to the FN.

Like Dr James Saleam, Ayoub — born in 1964 to middle class parents — is of Lebanese descent. He is also known for his relationship with French porn * Tabatha Cash. After leaving the boneheads, Ayoub became a biker, and in 2006 — after having two previous venues forcibly closed — opened a bar in Paris called Le Garage.

Following Ayoub is the redskin Julien, one of the founders of the “Red Warriors”. Julien is also featured in the 2008 documentary ANTIFA Chasseurs de skins:

The Red Warriors and other redskin crews were also, obviously, heavily influenced by UK band The Redskins (1982–1986); a small portion of their song ‘The Power is Yours’ is featured in the TV report. The band was formed by members (Chris Dean and Martin Hewes) of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP), and espoused a variant of Trotskyism.

At the end of the eighties, boneheads didn’t dare to walk on the streets of Paris for fear of being bashed. Further, their principal organising bases, fascist squats, had all been forcibly closed. Simon, a Red Warrior, comments:

“The tactical advantage of the Red Warriors was that we never stopped in the same place. We were less numerous than the nazis, and because of this our actions had to be very well-organised. We studied the terrain and took other measures to avoid problems. Meetings that happened before actions were quick and discreet, and generally took place at our houses or in squats. For direct actions, we were able to gather together approximately 60 people. All of us practiced some combat sport, but we also used weapons, such as baseball bats; there were four occasions on which we used firearms. Politically, each member of the group had different opinions, but we were all dedicated anti-fascists, and militancy was not an issue: there was simply a visceral hate for the far right and fascism. We fought against the Division St. Georges, Juvisy, Bunker 84 and JNR. We caught them unawares, and demonstrated that boneheads are not supermen. Our intention was to make the nazis afraid to walk the streets in all their paraphernalia (French flags, Celtic crosses, swastikas, etc.). Little by little, other groups which also practiced nazi hunting appeared…

“Let’s say thanks to a great man.”

“Darp is a Homosexual. You are, if you are not one yourself, associating with known faggots. Darp himself was, and probably still is, a frequent visitor to Oxford Street and an enthusiastic advocate of the Queer lifestyle. He has even worked in their fag bars as a ‘host’, stripped to the waist and oiled up like some homo ‘toy boy’.”

Haider’s deputy reveals gay affair
Tony Paterson
The Independent
October 22, 2008

Conservative Austria was in a state of shock today after the male successor to Jörg Haider admitted to having a longstanding “special relationship” with the far right leader who died dramatically in a high speed car crash earlier this month.

Stefan Petzner – the 27-year-old who recently replaced Haider as leader of the right wing Alliance for the Future of Austria and has often appeared in tears on television since his death – effectively outed himself as the deceased’s gay lover while being interviewed on an Austrian radio breakfast show…

Hosi, or Homosexual Initiative, the biggest gay pressure group in Austria, said: “We’ve known about Haider’s homosexuality for about 10 years. On the one hand we think it’s positive that the rumours are no longer capable of ruining a political career, on the other hand an earlier outing of Haider would have been justified.”

Of all the gossip spewing out of the imminent Madonna divorce, the most poignant item is that the 50-year-old pop star is enraged with estranged husband Guy Ritchie because he told her she “looked like a granny” on stage. The granny comment is reported to be part of a “dossier” of unhusbandly conduct by Ritchie, 40, which has been put about by Madonna’s lawyers and presumably leaked to the media as part of a tit-for-tat soap opera that does little for the dignity of either spouse, but much for the entertainment of the masses in hard economic times…

Ex-communist lacks ‘balance’ on history curriculum: Kroger
Julian Drape
National Indigenous Times
October 22, 2008

CANBERRA, October 22, 2008: The fact the man charged with suggesting a new national history curriculum for the Rudd government was once a communist affects his ability to be “balanced”, a Liberal senator has claimed. Victorian senator Helen Kroger made the claim during a education Senate estimates hearing. She said she was concerned historian Stuart Macintyre – “a chief protagonist in the history wars” – was a communist during his student days. “Professor Stuart Macintyre was certainly a communist,” Senator Kroger said. “While I respect that everyone should have the opportunity to form their own views on the history of our great country, what concerns me is that the working group under him is one that reflects broad academic sentiments … so that a balanced position is taken.” There needed to be “divergent academic views” shaping the national curriculum.

Prof Macintyre quit the Communist Party in 1979 before joining the Labor party.

The Melbourne University academic is head of the government’s history advisory group, which last week released a draft history curriculum discussion paper. He was appointed by the interim National Curriculum Board. The history paper suggested a greater emphasis on world history with less focus on Australia. The states and territories have agreed to implement a uniform curriculum from 2011.

Labor senator Kim Carr, representing Education Minister Julia Gillard, was quick to defend Prof Macintyre’s “qualifications to undertake this work”. Senator Kroger’s concern that only one view of history would be taught as a result of the discussion paper was completely wrong, he said. “For you to become excited that a pre-eminent Australian like Prof Macintyre should have a role to play in the development of the curriculum is misplaced,” Senator Carr said. “You don’t have anything to fear. If anything was unbalanced it was the (previous) HoWARd government’s approach to the teaching of history.” – AAP

‘Last stand’ for logging activists

The Age
October 23, 2008

FOREST activists who survived a violent attack by loggers in Tasmania’s old growth Upper Florentine valley will return for what they say is a make-or-break summer of protest…

The f@#$ing logger with a m*&^%$f@#$ing sledgehammer gives that c%^t Reverend Monsignor Geoff Baron a run for his f*&^ing money:

He’s a rude boy.

Forest activist Ula Majewski says the contractor also attacked a blockade with a sledgehammer, as another forest contractor watched on. Ms Majewski says the man is not seriously injured but he will be reporting the attack to police. “Violence of this kind is usually perpetrated by a very small minority of logging contractors but we would like logging contractors to focus their anger on companies like Gunns Ltd who continue to support an economically unsustainable logging industry,” she said.

Well I come from a long long line
Of tree falling men
And this company town was here
Before my grandpappy settled in
We kept enough trees a-standin’
So our kids could tow the line
But now a big corporation came and bought us out
Got us working overtime

CHORUS
But tell me
Where are we gonna work
When the trees are gone?
Will the big boss have us wash his car
Or maybe mow his lawn?
I’m a man, I’m a man, I’m a lumberjack man
But I fear it ain’t for long
Where are we gonna work
When the trees are gone?

Now these corporate mergers
Make no sense to me
But they got this junk bond debt to pay
So we’re clear-cutting down the trees
Now that old fishin’ hole
Where I used to take my son
We trashed it out last Monday morn’
Oh Lord, what have we done?

CHORUS

Now these Wall Street money men
They got me mad
I’ve got a family to feed and falling trees
Is the only job I ever had
Say now folks, we just can’t stand here
While this slash and burn goes on
We’ve got to slow down this big corporation
Before all the trees are gone!

Chicago (IL) – Last Friday, an 18 year old man from New Jersey pleaded guilty to federal computer hacking charges for his participation in a denial of service attack against the Church of Scientology websites. This was part of the efforts of hacker group Anonymous…

Poor kid. The Smoking Gun reported his initial arrest on October 17, as did Wired: ‘Anonymous’ Member Unmasked, Charged With Web Attack on Scientology, Ryan Singel, October 17, 2008. He apparently faces up to 10 years in jail.

The Church has retaliated by making a documentary dedicated to exposing the h8rs of Anonymous.

Nutzis. New Zealand Nutzis.

This weekend a mob of Nutzis calling themselves the ‘Nationalist Alliance’ (NA) is holding a rally outside the Parliament building in Wellington. Among the dignitaries attending this momentous event are local Nutzis Kyle Chapman and Kerry Bolton, and from Australia Dr. James Saleam. (There will also be a surprise guest or two from Australia — stay tuned for more details!) Saleam’s expected visit was preceded last year by Chapman’s address to Saleam’s Sydney Forum, and in April of this year by the announcement of a declaration of common understanding by ‘nationalist’ (fascist) groups in the two countries.

The three key participants named above are funny old fellows. As a yoof, Kyle Chapman burned down the meeting house of a Southland marae and placed a fake bomb on the doors of a girls’ school in Invercargill. As an ‘adult’ bonehead, he helped form the Fascist Union in the late ’90s, and later was the ‘director’ of the National Front. He’s also notorious for his ongoing battles with the English language. On the subject of this weekend’s rally, on the Jew-hating Stormfront website he wrote: “Les than a week to go. Anyone out there who has their testies growing enough to come along and has not made plans yet need to contact us ASAP”. Kerry Bolton is a Satanist and veteran fascist activist, whose voodoo recently resulted in the withdrawal of a student’s paper that he disagreed with from Waikato University. Like Bolton, James Saleam is also a veteran fascist, and has criminal convictions for insurance fraud and organising a shotgun attack on ANC representative Eddie Funde in the late ’80s.

As was the case in 2006, in 2008 the Nutzis are assembling at Top 10 Hutt Park Holiday Park.

“Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party of Australia?”, Or; Campus Watch comes to Australia

As part of their campaign to ‘Make Education Fair’, the Young Tories have compiled a list of academics they claim are guilty of leftist bias. This is in addition to assembling a range of materials intended to establish that University campuses — just as their parents warned them — are Communist-inspired hotbeds of unAustralianism: radical feminism, animal rights, gay rights, trade unionism, socialism, and other, equally new-fangled concepts. In doing so, the Young Tories are following in the footsteps of the right on campuses in the United States, and the program championed by neo-conservative polemicist Daniel Pipes: Campus Watch.

The intent of this page is to showcase a small sample of the academics in Australia, to highlight the prevalence of radical views, the lack of diversity and the use of the education as an ideological weapon. The purpose of this list is to alert students to what they may expect from these academics should they take their courses.

In categories below, we have listed academics who fall into one of several categories

1) Academics in education faculties who believe that education is a legitimate tool for radical activism and social engineering
2) Academics who are members of leftist associations
3) Academics who are activists for left or far left causes, and hold views well outside the mainstream

A common element in academia is the continual obsession with race and minority cultures. This can be seen in the prevalence of ‘Black Studies’ or ‘Indigenous Studies’ centres on campus. Apparently, the only race that can be examined critically is the white race.

Thinkers as well as doers, the Young Tories provide the following analysis of how it is that the Red disease that eats away / all your fortunes day by day, came to exercise political hegemony over Australian Universities:

If you’ve ever wondered why so many academics are militantly left wing, perhaps a little history lesson is in order. Early last century, an Italian communist by the name of Antonio Gramsci theorised that for Socialism to be victorious, it would take what he called a ‘long march through the institutions’ – the family, churches, media, civic organisations and universities must be captured, radically transformed and subverted for the Marxist cause. While academics are entitled to their own political views, many of them are unashamed activists for political and ideological causes, such as radical feminism, animal rights and gay rights.

In this instance, the Young Tories are also taking their cues from the radical right in the US, as found, for example, in the writings of Linda Kimball: ‘Marxist Subversion and Perversion of America’s Youth’ (2006) and ‘Cultural Marxism’, American Thinker, February 15, 2007. The same thesis has been outlined by Bill Lind (‘The Origins of Political Correctness: An Accuracy in Academia Address’, 2000), and has preoccupied much of the ‘neo-conservative’, ‘paleo-conservative’ and radical right for several decades now. The subject is discussed at some length in ‘Reframing the Enemy’ by Bill Berkowitz (Intelligence Report, Summer 2003): “‘Cultural Marxism,’ a conspiracy theory with an anti-Semitic twist, is being pushed by much of the American right”.

Television commentator Pat Buchanan says it is being used to “de-Christianize” America. Washington heavyweight William Lind claims it is turning U.S. college campuses into “ivy-covered North Koreas.” Retired naval commander Gerald Atkinson fears it has invaded the nation’s military academies. Immigration activist John Vinson suggests it aims “to distort and destroy” our country.

“Cultural Marxism,” described as a conspiratorial attempt to wreck American culture and morality, is the newest intellectual bugaboo on the radical right. Surprisingly, there are signs that this bizarre theory is catching on in the mainstream.

The phrase refers to a kind of “political correctness” on steroids — a covert assault on the American way of life that allegedly has been developed by the left over the course of the last 70 years. Those who are pushing the “cultural Marxism” scenario aren’t merely poking fun at the PC excesses of the “People’s Republic of Berkeley,” or the couple of American cities whose leaders renamed manholes “person-holes” in a bid to root out sexist thought.

Right-wing ideologues, racists and other extremists have jazzed up political correctness and repackaged it — in its most virulent form, as an anti-Semitic theory that identifies Jews in general and several Jewish intellectuals in particular as nefarious, communistic destroyers. These supposed originators of “cultural Marxism” are seen as conspiratorial plotters intent on making Americans feel guilty and thus subverting their Christian culture.

In a nutshell, the theory posits that a tiny group of Jewish philosophers who fled Germany in the 1930s and set up shop at Columbia University in New York City devised an unorthodox form of “Marxism” that took aim at American society’s culture, rather than its economic system.

The theory holds that these self-interested Jews — the so-called “Frankfurt School” of philosophers — planned to try to convince mainstream Americans that white ethnic pride is bad, that sexual liberation is good, and that supposedly traditional American values — Christianity, “family values,” and so on — are reactionary and bigoted. With their core values thus subverted, the theory goes, Americans would be quick to sign on to the ideas of the far left.

The very term, “cultural Marxism,” is clearly intended to conjure up xenophobic anxieties. But can a theory like this, built on the words of long-dead intellectuals who have little discernible relevance to normal Americans’ lives, really fly? As bizarre as it might sound, there is some evidence that it may. Certainly, those who are pushing the theory seem to believe that it is an important one.

“Political correctness looms over American society like a colossus,” William Lind, a principal of far-right political strategist Paul Weyrich’s Free Congress Foundation (see group description, in Into the Mainstream) and a key popularizer of the idea of cultural Marxism, warned in a 1998 speech. “It has taken over both political parties and is enforced by many laws and government regulations. It almost totally controls the most powerful element in our culture, the entertainment industry. It dominates both public and higher education. … It has even captured the clergy in many Christian churches.”

The Young Tories’ campaign was launched late last year by the Liberal Party of NSW Division Inc, and has born fruit in the shape of a Parliamentary lemon: the Senate Inquiry into Academic Freedom, headed by lifetime Tory party hack Mitch Fifield. Last week, President of the Australian Young Liberals (Young Liberal Movement of Australia) Noel McCoy, presented the views of the campaign at a public hearing.

The Young Tories are not exactly strangers when it comes to the subject of controversies surrounding ‘radical feminism’, ‘gay rights’ or racism: At the 2007 Federal Young Liberal Convention “…the Young Liberals likened Aboriginal culture to rubbish and said 40,000 years of Aboriginal history could be ‘taught in one lesson'”. Two years ago, a small mob of rabid Tories chanting “We’re racist, we’re sexist, we’re homophobic” were featured on national television. More recently, in Queensland:

    1) Joshua Young, the University of Queensland student union president, allegedly made [questionable] comments on his MySpace social networking page. According to a copy of the page, Mr Young’s blurb about himself described going to drunken parties and “yelling at confused Asian students”. Mr Young, who has been a prominent Young Liberal, declined to comment at length until he consulted a solicitor, but dismissed the issue as “a political game someone is playing”.

    2) University of Queensland (UQ) women’s collective members discovered racist, sexist and homophobic messages covering the Women’s Room on the morning of September 17. The messages, scrawled over the wall and posters, included: “I hate queers, Asians, Negroes… and women”; “I like cock” and “I love the patriarchy”.

    3) [Joshua Young:] “As far as I am concerned, so long as the language used is not unlawful and no property was damaged, then the incident is a an example of the cut and thrust of student debate and politics. In the interests of keeping the peace though, I have asked for the offending graffiti to be removed.”

Barking.
