NZ Police Stop Maori Use of Weapons of Mass Destruction in Secret Terror Plot Hatched Deep Within New Zealand’s Most Sacred Mountain Range to Destroy Nation!

While the nature and scope of recent police investigations and arrests in Aotearoa/New Zealand is slowly becoming clearer, Bernard Lagan in Sydney has few doubts regarding either: —

Arms cache discovered in secret Maori ‘terror camps’

— screams a headline in Uncle Rupert’s The Times (October 16, 2007).

“Secret camps allegedly used for military training by Maori radicals were yesterday found deep within New Zealand’s most sacred mountain range” reads the first line in Lagan’s breathless article. Yes, such is the depth of the depravity among the Maori radicals/terrorists, they were simply unwilling to settle for a mountain range more ordinary, but instead opted for the country’s most sacred.

Well, presumably.

Among other priceless pieces of information contained in Lagan’s report is the following: “Ms Clark said later that she was aware of police plans but refused to say if she knew of a threat to herself or other politicians. She said that she was “surprised at the scale and numbers of people involved”.” Involved in what, exactly? On first reading, I understood her ‘surprise’ to be not at “the scale and numbers of people involved” in the “police plans” — that is, the police operation — but “the scale and numbers of people involved” in the secret Maori terror camps found deep within New Zealand’s most sacred mountain range…

In the interests of ‘balance’, here’s another, slightly less hysterical article; an interview with an anarchist from New Zealand:

NZ police target “terrorists” and avocados in raids
Cam Smith
Crikey!

While the Australian papers were largely concerned with boring tax cuts this morning, their counterparts across the ditch were concerned with far more explosive matters. Around 300 NZ police were involved in simultaneous raids across the country targeting Maori, environmental and peace activists, who the police allege had been taking part in “terrorist training camps.”

A New Zealand anarchist and friend of many of the accused spoke to Crikey this morning:

C: Do the allegations have any basis in fact?
A: At this stage, the only facts that are clear are those of state repression, of masked and black-clad fully armed police officers searching a school bus full of children at gunpoint, of a community that has borne a huge amount of hardship at the hands of the state being further victimised. The police have made a lot of allegations, both directly and through leaks to the media, but have yet to back any of it with even the slightest semblance of fact.

C: I’ve seen reports, in The Age for example, that they’ve actually seized weapons, however other reports say that they were just looking for this material. Are you aware as to whether they have actually found anything?
A: As far as I understand it, those who have been charged have been charged with possession of arms and ammunition at some point in the past – ie, they had none of it on them when they were arrested. In other words, the police are alleging that these people, at some point that they haven’t stated, used weapons illegally in a manner which they also haven’t stated. What is clear is that many of the 300+ police who carried out raids, arrests and searches yesterday were armed to the teeth, which should be no surprise from the biggest and most powerful gang in Aotearoa.

C: You were visited by the police on Monday morning. What happened?
A: The raids started in Ruatoki at 4am, at the house of well-known Tino Rangatiratanga activist Tame Iti. I was woken up by a text message telling me that an activist community house in Wellington had been raided and two friends of mine had been arrested. I jumped on the computer to check the news, and soon after there was a knock at my door. I opened it to find four police officers, all in plain-clothes but wearing police vests over the top. One of the officers showed me his ID, at which point I asked him if he had a warrant. He did not reply, and instead asked me if a certain person was in my house. I asked again if he had a warrant, and when he said that they didn’t, I told them to leave the property, and closed the door. I watched them through a window, and quickly realised they weren’t leaving, and were in fact walking around the outside of my house and through my backyard. I opened the door again, and informed them that as the legal occupier of the property, I was demanding they leave immediately under the Trespass Act. They refused to leave, and demanded I prove I was the occupier, or else they would stay. My flatmate soon produced our lease form, which I showed them. They wrote down our names, I told them again to leave, and shortly afterwards they did so.

C: Were they visibly armed?
A: Other than batons, the police who came to our house didn’t appear to be armed, unlike many of the police involved in other raids.

C: But what if you had been armed to the teeth?
A: I think that just goes to show how ludicrous these trumped up charges are. At the Wellington activist community centre, while police were supposedly searching the house for weapons, they simultaneously had no issue with residents using huge kitchen knives to cut up apples and make apple pie. Likewise, this morning we have already seen Jamie Lockett, one of the arrestees in Auckland, released on bail [only to then have his bail denied by a higher court]. None of this seems to fit the picture of a dangerous terrorist network! And while the police found no weapons at the Wellington activist community centre, they did confiscate a backpack containing carrots and an avocado!

C: Did the carrots and avocado have any explosive properties?
A: The police returned them later in the day, so one assumes not.

Locally, Socialist Alternative has issued a statement on the arrests. According to Mick Armstrong:

The anarchist crazies involved in the terror plot are in no serious sense part of the movement. Just like their black mates they simply exploit the movement for their own purposes.

Right throughout the lead-up to the arrests they made clear their hostility to and contempt for their superiors. Every day they repair bicycles, grow organic vegetables, and do all they can to disrupt the movement, and are hostile, abusive, threatening and ultra-sectarian towards its leaders.

Aotearoa, fortunately, has not previously been blighted by the sort of activities by blacks which have had such a disastrous impact on the movement in Australia. These people are simply provocateurs that open up movements to police repression. In Australia their ranks have been riddled by people who can think and act for themselves.

What gave them a certain critical mass deep within Aotearoa’s most sacred mountain range was the presence of considerable numbers of anarchists from overseas. One of our members from Australia says he recognises at least 40 Australian anarchists among the 17 arrested, and knows at least 20 of them by name. There is a considerable number of black anarchists from Europe. We know of people from Sweden, Germany and England. These people are like football hooligans who travel the world looking for violence.

On top of that there were also a considerable number of anarchists from other planets.

Because of the behaviour of these alien provocateurs the media and the law and order brigade are having a field day.

The left should offer no comfort to these crazies. We should do whatever we can to isolate them. They are wreckers. If they grow in Aotearoa it will simply make it harder to build future monuments and movements.

Simon Critchley : Football Hooligan & Wrecker

Infinitely Demanding : Ethics of Commitment, Politics of Resistance
Verso, 2007

A new political ethics that confronts the injustices of liberal democracy

Infinitely Demanding is the clearest, boldest and most systematic statement of Simon Critchley’s influential views on philosophy, ethics, and politics. Part diagnosis of the times, part theoretical analysis of the impasses and possibilities of ethics and politics, part manifesto, Infinitely Demanding identifies a massive political disappointment at the heart of liberal democracy and argues that what is called for is an ethics of commitment that can inform a radical politics.

Exploring the problem of ethics in Kant, Levinas, Badiou, and Lacan that leads to a conception of subjectivity based on the infinite responsibility of an ethical demand, Critchley considers the possibility of political subjectivity and action after Marx and Marxism. Infinitely Demanding culminates in an argument for anarchism as an ethical practice and a remotivating means of political organization.

“Simon Critchley is the most powerful and provocative philosopher now writing about the complex relations of ethical subjectivity and reinvigorated democracy. His subtle readings of Badiou, Logstrup and Levinas as well as Marx, Gramsci and Laclau are a gem. And his humor-inflected notions of commitment and resistance are refreshing in our nihilistic times.” — Cornel West, Princeton University

“Simon Critchley’s book is remarkable in terms of its clarity, emotion, and energy. Combining close readings of both classical and modern writers with the data of his own experience, Critchley puts forward a theory of fundamental anarchism backed up by a virgorous ethical commitment. Reading and discussing this essay is utterly essential.” — Alain Badiou

Simon Critchley is Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research and at the University of Essex, Colchester, UK. He is the author of many books, including Ethics-Politics-Subjectivity from Verso, and, most recently, Things Merely Are.

“…no credit is due to me for discovering the existence of classes in modern society, nor yet the struggle between them. Long before me bourgeois historians had described the historical development of this struggle of the classes, and bourgeois economists the economic anatomy of the classes. What I did that was new was to prove: 1) that the existence of classes is only bound up with particular historical phases in the development of production; 2) that the class struggle necessarily leads to the dictatorship of the proletariat; 3) that this dictatorship itself only constitutes the transition to the abolition of all classes and to a classless society.”

~ Marx in a letter to Weydenmeyer (1852)

“I’m training up to be a vicious, dangerous commando”

Update : Judge overruled on bail decision, TVNZ, October 16: “A High Court judge has overruled a judge in the District Court over the granting of bail to one of the accused from Monday’s anti-terror raids. Judge Josephine Bouchier read to the court transcripts of Jamie Lockett’s intercepted communications. In them, Lockett allegedly spoke of training to be a vicious commando, he said he intended declaring war on New Zealand and he warned that white men would die. Lockett responded in court by saying the transcripts had been taken out of context. Judge Bouchier said she did not consider Jamie Lockett to be a threat to public safety and she granted him bail. The Crown then lodged a High Court appeal against Lockett’s bail, and early on Tuesday evening the bail was revoked…”

Stranger and stranger.

On the one hand, a media celebrity called “Bomber” (Martyn Bradbury) reckons “The shit is REALLY going to hit the fan” if and when the jaw-dropping truth behind yesterday’s raids are revealed to the New Zealand public; on the other, one of the 17 people so far charged in connection to the raids, Jamie Lockett, has today received bail. This despite the fact that police informed the court Lockett had declared ‘war’ (huh! what is it good for?) on New Zealand and was training to be a ‘commando’. Nevertheless, “Judge Josephine Bouchier said that on the evidence before her at the moment, Lockett could not be considered to pose such a significant danger to the public that he should be in custody” (Man arrested in raids ‘declared war on NZ’, court told). By way of background to Lockett’s case, the New Zealand Herald further reports that:

…Lockett – also arrested in Auckland – said his arrest on firearms charges came at a bad time, as he was due to begin a private prosecution against “a senior police officer” today. He told the court if he spent time in custody it would ruin months of preparation. The summary of facts also contained errors, he said, and he claimed to have been “kidnapped” by police in three different locations… (Tame Iti on gun and firebomb charges, October 16).

On the whole, while most police activity appears to be concentrated on revealing the existence of an alleged paramilitary training camp in “the remote Bay of Plenty settlement of Ruatoki” — run by a group dubbed the ‘Freedom Fighters’ by sections of the media, the exact aims of which remain somewhat obscure at this stage — it appears that police have taken the opportunity to engage in a fishing expedition involving a range of different activist groups, projects and communities. For example, in Christchurch police attempted to conduct a search of a house belonging to a spokesperson for the Save Happy Valley Coalition; in Wellington, police raided 128, a well-known activist household and meeting space; in Auckland (Tamaki Makaurau) police raided A Space Inside, which last month hosted an anarchist conference and which otherwise functions as a library, and provides local activists with a space for meetings, film screenings and the like.

Presumably, the coming days and weeks will reveal the extent to which police believe they have sufficient evidence to charge arrestees with offences under the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002 rather than the Firearms Act. As for now, and despite what is allegedly an operation which commenced 1–2 years ago involving all sorts of undercover shenanigans, police and other authorities appear reluctant to commit themselves to any particular (legal) course of action. But in the event they do pursue ‘terrorism’ charges, there’s little doubt that — the marginal voices of isolated critics notwithstanding — the general public has been well-prepared by the state/corporate media for this eventuality.

Terrorists and/or freedom fighters?

In Aotearoa/New Zealand, the media has been very understanding on the subject of terrorism. For example: “3 News understands a paramilitary group calling itself the “freedom fighters” had been conducting training in the use of firearms and other weapons.” Oddly enough, Te Mana Motuhake o Tühoe invited “freedom fighters” to attend a commemoration of a struggle for Maori land rights at the end of this year:

Tuhoe: Te Ahikaa roa a Mihi ki te Kapua 2007/2008
[August 28, 2007]

It has been ten years since the Waikaremoana land occupation. It has been ten years since the fires burnt on the shores of Waikaremoana. Ten years since the grandchildren of Waikaremoana made a stand against the continual alienation of their lands, forests and of course the lake. Te Mana Motuhake o Tühoe invite the freedom fighters who were part of the occupation to return, and also any comrade or organisation who want to celebrate and plan for our future campaign. Come and share victories, kai and korero with Tuhoe this New Years eve.

Venue: Waikaremoana, Te Waiwherowhero pa. (next to the campgrounds)
Date: 31/12/07 – 03/01/08

A Maori politician, Te Ururoa Flavell condemned the raids for their colonial overtones:

“The Maori families living in my electorate feel unduly harassed by the number of search warrants imposed, the charges laid, and the intimidation they believe they have experienced this morning” said Te Ururoa Flavell. “It was soul-destroying to hear one koroua describe his first thoughts were that it reminded him of the context of raupatu” said Te Ururoa Flavell. “This is not surprising, given it appears the road block was at the site of the confiscation line – which marks the point up to which land was taken from Tühoe in the 1860s”.

While tabloid radio mocks the notion of “love and solidarity” on a blog “labelling itself as “Revolutionary Anti Colonialism and Anti Capitalism” [and] pledging love and solidarity to all those arrested in police raids on Maori and environmental activists allegedly involved in para-military training camps. It says treating indigenous people “with long standing and valid historical grievances” as terrorists is “bullshit”. The site has links to others that talk of freedom fighters in the Tuhoe – Bay of Plenty area.”

But as William Taft observed 100 years ago (The New York Times, May 31, 1907) regarding US rule of the “sullen peoples” of the Philippines, “we cannot expect gratitude from the Filipinos… who are jealous of us”. Further, the native press was at that time similarly ungrateful: “…the native newspapers avail themselves of the freedom of the press, and abuse the privilege by every kind of unfair statement to stir up native prejudice against the Government, and so against the Americans… Our reward must be in the pleasure of pushing the cause of civilization and in increasing the opportunity for progress to those less fortunate than ourselves in their environment, and not in their gratitude.”

And who isn’t hungry for the benefits of Civilization?

Huh. Google shuts down neo-Nazi blog

To the best of my knowledge, this is a first. Rather than simply attaching a ‘warning’ advising the reader that other readers believe it “contains hate content”, Google has actually shut down a blog belonging to a neo-Nazi wanker from Serbia called Goran Davidović. The wanna-be fueher last made it into the headlines when he and his mob had to scurry from antifa just a week or so ago. Which I guess means it’s back to the bunker for poor old Goran…

NOVI SAD — Nacionalni Stroj leader Goran Davidović’s blog has been closed, Radio 021 has learned.

Blogger.com, owned by Google, has opted for the move after a successful campaign organized by Serbian internet users.

The Novi Sad radio said Monday that those who joined the campaigned used an option to report inappropriate blog content, explaining that their complaint came due to Davidović representing a neo-Nazi organization, advocating hatred.

Davidović, nicknamed Fuehrer by his followers, is due out of prison today, after being arrested on October 7, when participants in an antifascist rally in Novi Sad clashed with his group.

Nazis Not Welcome In Novi Sad
support.antifa.net

…As the marchers attempted to reach their rallying point, they were met with a few bottles and stones thrown by the sorry handful of fascists who had managed to muster. Almost before the anti-fascists had a chance to retaliate, Serbian riot police moved in. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the odds, they concentrated their efforts on the nazis, arresting them and their so-called ‘Fuehrer’ (failure more like). A couple of anti-fascists were also arrested.

To be honest, the police almost certainly saved the fascists from some antifa street justice with their early intervention. The people of Novi Sad certainly seemed willing to respond in kind when the boneheads attempted to assault them, and we have no doubt who would’ve lost the argument had it continued. We send our respect and solidarity to the citizens of Novi Sad who take a stand against the fascist threat.

Fascism versus Football

The decision by Melbourne Knights to allow their facilities to be used, on Saturday, October 13, by the local branches of two international neo-Nazi organisations (Blood & Honour (B&H) and the Hammerskins) in order to hold a gig is a step backwards, both for the club, and for the image of football in Victoria. It also contradicts the general aims and principles upon which the game is meant to be conducted.

The governing body for football (soccer) in Victoria is Football Federation Victoria (FFV). As part of its general rules of conduct, FFV advises players, parents, coaches, teachers and administrators to “Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion” (officials are instructed to “Give all young people a ‘fair go’ regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion”). These, obviously, are worthy aims. But how does allowing for the propagation of neo-Nazi ideology serve to promote them? To put it mildly, it does not.

The recent assault on a Jewish teenager in Melbourne — by a pair of racist bogans armed with baseball bats and blonde mullets — prompted a more extensive AAP article on anti-Semitism in Australia, Anti-Semitism ‘reaching scary levels’ (The Age, August 23, 2007). The impetus for the article was presumably provided by the fact that the bashing followed on from the widely-publicised assault on Jewish businessman Menachem Vorchheimer last October (by a number of incredibly brave Ocean Grove footballers), and racist Internet postings made in August by some other terrifically sporting cricketers from McKinnon. Note that, to its credit, McKinnon Cricket Club appears to have responded much more positively to the racist commentary (allegedly) made by some of its senior members than Ocean Grove Football Club did in relation to the racist abuse and assault of Vorchheimer: in the immediate aftermath, club coach Matthew Sproule denied any wrongdoing on the part of his boys. (The situation was further complicated by the involvement of an off-duty policeman in the incident.)

The recent commentary by the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Kevin Andrews, regarding the supposed inability or reluctance of African immigrants — and those from Sudan in particular — to ‘integrate’ into Australian society sparked much, er, reflection. So too, did the recent murder of one of those immigrants, 19 year-old Liep Gony, and the bashing of another, 17 year-old Ajang Gor.

Naturally, in keeping with their ideology (and in addition to ZOG), much of the anger of Blood & Honour and the Hammerskins is directed at blacks. In the US, for example, Hammerskins have murdered a number of black people, and assaulted numerous more. Further, partly because of its racist, fascist views, Blood & Honour has been outlawed in Germany and Spain, and its banning is under consideration in Belgium and Holland.

In Australia, on the other hand…

During the course of the last ten years, B&H and the Hammerskins have been provided with a venue by the management of an inner-city pub in Melbourne called The Birmingham Hotel. As a result of the negative publicity surrounding the exposure of the pub’s role in doing so, however — and despite the vocal support of a small number of local, right-wing nationalist fashion punks and skinheads — these neo-Nazi groups have this year been forced to look further afield for a venue willing to stoop to their level, and unfortunately it appears that they have found one in the Melbourne Knights Football Club. Exactly why this is the case is unknown at this stage, but presumably there are elements within the Club only too happy to cater to fair dinkum neo-Nazis, and these organisations in particular which, over the course of the last twenty years, have a string of violent criminal activities to their credit. And now the Melbourne Knights, to their er, credit, may boast of having hosted these organisations.

I wonder what the football federations think?

We want to see the ‘beautiful game’ played without the cancer of racism. Football is the biggest sport in the world and belongs to us all. It should be the right of every person to play, watch and discuss freely, without fear.

Unfortunately, at all levels of the game, from amateur to international, there are incidents of racism. Be it from fans, players, clubs or other football bodies, FARE believes that such behaviour, on and off the field, is unacceptable and unwanted by the majority of fans and players.

FARE aims to rid the game of racism by combining the resources of anti-racist football organisation throughout Europe. It helps to support and nurture groups and coordinates efforts on an European scale. By working together, FARE helps organisations share good practice and present a united front against racism in football.

Hissy fits

…are breaking out all over. Following the exposure of the Melbourne Knights (nee Croatia) as being the latest mob to provide a venue for the annual knees-up by local boneheads Blood & Honour Australia and the Southern Cross Hammerskins, comes another fascist hissy fit.

Mr. Hitler still has a lot to answer for!

On Stormfront Down Under, a brief conversation, involving a fascist twat and a fascist twat named Rhys McLean (above), current moderator of SFDU, member of Saleam’s Australia First Party* (and like Herr Doktor, silly enough to be captured wearing his ideological heart on his sleeve):

1) Here is the links:

[[link removed]]

Click on the link and it takes you [straight] to FDB.

Looks like i was wrong about BvH folks, and i sincerely apologise to any White Nationalists i have offended, criticised or hurt over my defence of him. Whether or not he was a true White Nationalist all along i dont know, but his actions of late prove he is no longer a WN, and has turned dog.

Not only this link, but i read on FDB thread that he has gone to FDB so… I apologise for defending him [at?] all.

I hope you all forgive me for my actions.

2) Yep…

FightDemBack will never be discussed here.

They need to come to Stormfront to keep themselves entertained. They cannot come up with anything of their own.

They talk about us to stir us up, create division and try and scare people away. If nobody pays any attention to them, they have nothing. Nothing at all.

They are a banned topic here. Period.

You want fries with that?

AustralianEuro

Oddly enough, a similar closed door policy was pursued by McLean’s predecessor, Emma Peterson (‘Lilith’). Of course, the recent departure of Emma and her husband David Innes (‘Baron von Hund’) from the Yanqui Stormfront site (under a cloud of suspicion) has not only meant the end of the ‘Down Under Nationalist Resource’ site, but that of the ‘New Right Australia/New Zealand’ as well.

Over-the-water, in Christchurch, Kyle ‘The Pieman’ Chapman, former fuehrer of the New Zealand National Front, has failed to set tongues wagging with his stunning popularity among local citizens. Or to put it another way — in fact, in in the inimitable stylee of sexy Semite Asher:

Chapman fails miserably, beaten by a pothead and a communist

The Christchurch local body election results are in, and everybody’s favourite fascist Kyle Chapman has failed miserably.

In the Mayoral election Kyle received a paltry 673 votes, putting him in 3rd to last place, and behind Byron Clark (from the Worker’s Party) and Blair Anderson (from the Mild Greens). For the record, ex-gameshow host and all-round scumbag Bob Parker won with 46104 votes.

In the Hagley-Ferrymead community board, where Kyle thought he had a better chance, especially seeing as 5 out of 11 candidates were to be elected, he received 1459 votes, putting him in LAST place, with less than half the votes of the 2nd to last place getter!

For the record, Jason Orme, who is in the same fascist party as Kyle, the National Democrats, ran for Mayor of Waimakariri. He came last, 4th out of 4, with just over 1/3 of the votes of the 2nd to last place getter.

* “…In recent weeks, racist anti-Sudanese pamphlets have been distributed in Sydney’s western suburbs and across the New South Wales Central Coast. The pamphlets are attributed to the Australia First Party, but the anti-immigration group denies it’s behind the campaign.

JIM SALEAM, AUSTRALIA FIRST PARTY: Allowing for Australia’s racial vilification laws, I can’t say to you that I agree with the content of the pamphlet, but I can say to you that I would defend the right of free speech of the person to distribute the document.” ~ Immigration Minister denies inciting racial tension, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Broadcast: 11/10/2007, Reporter: John Stewart

Note that the pamphlets in question contain racist cartoon images originally produced by White Aryan Resistance in the US. These are also currently featured on Martin Fletcher’s site, Down Under Newslinks.
