Anarchist Agitator Andy!

Andrew is involved with and works for Barricade Bookshop[,] situated in Brunswick, a suburb of Melbourne. Barricade Bookshop is a hotspot [for] extreme leftists[,] ranging from violent street-level anarchists, [to] Old School [Communist Party of Australia] members to straight-out traitors to Australian democratic ideals. Reds like Andrew Morgan use this venue to indoctrinate young minds and unwitting subjects with evil and inhumane ideologies such as Communism, Marxism and other equally tantalizing doctrine[s].

Or PIRACY AND PRIVATEERING — SAILING UNDER THE “BANNER OF KING DEATH”!

BUCCANEER AND pirate, admiral and general, country gentleman and planter, custos and judge of the court of Vice-Admiralty, governor and knight – all are titles held by Morgan during his colourful lifetime.

Australia in the first half of the 21st century was a pirate haven. Known for plunder and trade, the island’s port town of Melbourne (aptly located at the entry to Port Phillip Bay) was home to many of these “brethren of the coast”. It was at that time that one pirate in particular rose to prominence: the Anarchist, Andrew Morgan.

Famed for his exploits on what was known as the Fascist Main (today completely destroyed) Morgan seemed larger than life. Although accounts place him as being of average height and build, there was nothing average about his leadership abilities or his charisma, however. It is not surprising that history regards him as a pirate king, referring to him as the greatest buccaneer of them all (although most likely forerunners of the pirates, the two terms are used somewhat interchangeably).

According to noted Australian historian, Keith Windschuttle, Morgan was “more than a buccaneer captain. The same man who could swear and curse and drink and whore with the best of them in many a den of murder, or lead a bunch of desperadoes for miles through hostile jungles and fever-ridden swamps… was also to prove an astute politician with a breadth of vision far, far beyond that of the men he drew to him with his rare magnetism”.

Ho! Andrew Morgan sails today. To harry the Fascist Main,
With a pretty bill for the Bones to pay. ‘Ere he comes back again…

Aaarrr!

Heinemann’s “negotiating” style…

Another report from the frontlines…

Keep up the great work Cheryl!

All power to the workers!

Heinemann’s “negotiating” style
Cheryl Cemeljic

The current dispute at Heinemann Electric Pty Ltd is the result of a lengthy period of farcical negotiations by management. Even before the current EBA had expired, Richard Ross, Heinemann’s general manager, was playing a game of cat and mouse with union delegates who were negotiating on behalf of more than two-thirds of employees.

Each time Richard Ross dutifully delivered to his employees the redrafted EBA proposals, supposedly reflecting negotiated changes, employees quickly noticed that other clauses were being changed at the same time.

It appears negotiations were nothing more than a stall tactic, while Freehills, the legal dynamites who helped draft the controversial WorkChoice IR laws, came up with a plan.

Richard Ross even sent a letter to all employees stating that he was disappointed that negotiations had appeared to fail, as he always kept his door open to anyone who wished to talk. While he relied upon his legal advice, it appears that it has hurt his feelings that workers felt the need to have more experienced and educated eyes check his proposals.

In a “door opening?” move, the managing director of Heinemann’s parent company CBI, Mr Helmuth Fischer, made a personal visit to his Australian workforce. At a meeting which was called to attention with a dog whistle personally delivered by Mr Fischer, he asked the Australian workers to please consider the South African shareholder when negotiating its new EBA. He pleaded with workers to not participate in industrial action, claiming it was vital that projects not be effected. One project he cited involved 15,000 chickens. One has to wonder if each chicken had a name, or how long they were meant for this world. Would Heinemann’s switchboards be keeping the little chicks warm in a barn so they could grow and prosper, or merely keep them frozen? One has to wonder why a company which showed such concern for 15,000 nameless chickens, has now shown such lack of compassion for all its Australian human workers.

In a show of force, Mr Helmuth Fischer concluded his meeting with the phrase, “If you want a fight, we’ll give you a fight!” I’m sure many employees were left with a warm and fuzzy feeling, and felt encouraged to visit Richard Ross’s “open door”.

How much longer can the Australian workforce be asked to submit itself to slavery for the sake of foreign [?] dollars? Shame on you Mr HoWARd, for selling your people to the highest bidder.

If you are in the area, please feel free to visit the picket line at 821 Springvale Rd, Mulgrave. On a good day, there may even be a BBQ.

A few comments :

‘Foreign’ dollars or ‘Australian’ dollars: they’re still dollars.
Fischer is playing a very old game, playing one group of workers (Australian) off against another (South African).
Bosses are like politicians: you know when they’re lying when they open their mouths to speak.

Ian Stuart : Zero of the White Race, Skrewdriver, and “The Battle of Waterloo”

Update : September 25, 2008: A good (if typically flawed) biography of Ian and Skrewdriver, ‘The Legacy of Ian Stuart’, Fat Richard Warwick, Swindle, No.3. Note that while German label Rock-O-Rama — on which Skrewdriver released an album (Hail The New Dawn) and single (Invasion/On The Streets) in 1984 — has since evolved into Belgian label Pure Impact, a fascist-sympathising businessman, Herbert Egoldt, remains at the helm (if in the shadows). Note too that ex-Skrewydriver bassist Murray Holmes is back playing gigs Down Under with The Quick & The Dead, and with the support of local (Perth) punk band The Homicides.

Neo-Nazi skinhead Ian Stuart Donaldson (b.1957) was killed in a car accident in 1993, and ever since he’s a been a subject of veneration — well, for a handful of other boneheads anyway — as well as derision (everyone else). Before he died a long-overdue death, however, Stuart managed — as the founder of Blood & Honour and vocalist for Skrewdriver — to earn himself a reputation as being one of England’s most notorious boneheads… as well as being among the top one hundred of the finest musicians to ever come out of Blackpool with-a-Grammar-school-education and to then die-in-a-car-accident-in-1993.

In an interview in some zine or other, Stuart is alleged to have remarked (before his death… presumably) that:

I am not the type of person to creep and crawl to a bunch of weak-kneed, pacifist lefties and two-faced Zionists. One must be honest to people about one’s beliefs and especially when the survival of our very race is at stake. I have no doubt that anyone who expounds patriotic beliefs has a little black mark put against his name, and by now I must have a massive black mark near my name. C’est la guerre.

Mad as a cut snake, obviously.

But that wasn’t all there was to Stuart. For, as well being quite a daft bugger and a god-awful musician,* he was also a coward and a bully:

Following the events of May 27 [1989: B&H stupidly tried to hold a gig in London — ‘The Main Event’ — and got their arses kicked by Anti-Fascist Action], Ian Stuart left his house in King’s Cross and moved to Derbyshire. [AFA] heard rumours that the Chelsea Headhunters were trying to muscle in on on the [B&H] cash cow and were making threatening noises in his direction. There was, however, another reason for his swift departure from London, and that was the activities of a certain ex-Manc by the name of Hefty who harassed and attacked the [B&H] leader at every given opportunity.

The area around King’s Cross and Euston was bandit country. Lone fascists, small groups of [neo-Nazis] and even whole firms came to grief in the streets around the two stations. Hefty and a few other lads, namely AJ, Carl, Pete G, and Gavin, used to operate around that area and chanced upon Stuart on a number of occasions. They gave him and his followers a few serious hidings at various times, but the event that seemed to give Stuart the real horrors was when he went out early one morning to buy a newspaper and a pint of milk, and was hit across the head by a large Mancunian wielding a Lucozade bottle. Ian Stuart was a coward and a bully. He liked to throw his weight around when the odds were in his favour, but when confronted on any number of occasions by AFA lads he legged it and left his comrades to face the music…

[NB: “The Headhunter heyday was back in the mid-1980s when Steven Hickmott led the group… Hickmott was eventually picked up by police in the country’s first undercover football operation. Sentenced to ten years for organising violence (later overturned after police evidence was questioned), Hickmott was replaced with Chris “Chubby” Henderson, a long-time [neo-Nazi] activist and singer with the Oi band Combat 84.” Locally, Combat 84 — alongside of Condemned 84 and a number of other racist/fascist Oi! bands — is available through Deadset Music.]

Stuart also had the privilege in his too-long life of being a failed businessman: between 1987 and 1989, AFA managed to close down the few shops in Carnaby Street scabby enough to actually stoop to selling his music and merchandise, leaving his few fans unhappy shoppers… and B&H humiliated.

Below is an account of ‘The Battle of Waterloo’ by a former member of Manchester AFA, Dave Hann; the battle between boneheads and antifa taking place the very last time Skrewdriver tried to play London, and a little over twelve months before Stuart made his final descent into Hell.

Curiously, it’s a little known fact that, at the time of his death, Derby Coroner Peter Ashworth concluded:

We are still no nearer finding out what caused this tragic accident. All we can say is that, whatever his parent’s defects, Stuart became less easy to control. But there must have been some other factor which contributed to the crash, even if Ian had not grabbed the wheel in a way many others in the same situation would never have done.

So, as we remember Ian the Bonehead, we should also remember all the other Boneheads.

And send them our very best wishes.

STAGE BOTTLESDead But Not Forgiven

    Ian couldn’t drive a car
    As we all know
He trusted too much in all his gods
And though he was a human being
We don’t feel any sorrow for him

Now we got rid of one of those cunts
He’s been one of our most important enemies
So we forget our respect for life
Cause all he did was senseless shit

    […]

Now we’re here and having our fun
Having our fun and thinking about him
He’s been the one who misused the word Skinhead
He himself was never one – he was a fucking Bonehead

[*Some conspiracy theorists maintain that ‘the Jews’ are ‘the ones what are responsible’ for not only Stuart’s ‘accidental’ death but his ‘deliberate’ birth too; seemingly on the basis that his music — being so unbearably mediocre — was devised solely in order to discredit the bonehead image, and to ruin the cottage White Power? Give ‘Em A Golden Shower! muzak industry that was borne in his flatulent wake.]

The Battle of Waterloo, September 12th, 1992

In August 1992, posters proclaiming “Skrewdriver Back in London” were spotted in various parts of the country. They were advertising a Blood and Honour [B&H] concert due to take place in London on September 12. At first we assumed it was a hoax, as Skrewdriver hadn’t even attempted to play in London since The Main Event, but as time went by it became obvious that it was anything but a hoax.

The concert was once more touted to be a massive affair, with up to 2,000 [neo-Nazis] expected to attend and several bands playing, including Skrewdriver, Skullhead, No Remorse and a Swedish band called Dirlewanger. There was a rumour flying about that a mainstream music promoter was willing to seriously back [B&H] if the gig proved a success and any opposition was muted or destroyed. Once again the gig was at a secret location with a re-direction point, which this time was at Waterloo Station at 5.30pm. We heard on the grapevine that both the BNP and the British Movement (BM) had been approached to help with security for the event.

By coincidence, a week before the concert the AFA’s Unity Carnival was due to take place on Hackney Downs in London. A request was made for stewards to attend from around the country in case the fash tried a pre-emptive strike, but nothing untoward happened and the carnival passed off peacefully. Maybe the fash were hoping that if they left us alone, we would leave them alone. Fat chance.

The carnival was cold and rain-swept, but at least it gave us a chance to alert an already interested audience to the following weekend’s events. In the meantime, London AFA contacted all the various anti-racist and anti-fascist groups with details of what was to happen at Waterloo, but no-one seemed interested. The ANL suddenly decided that they were holding a march in Thornton Heath, more than fifteen miles away. So it looked like we were on our own, but then we never seriously expected anything else.

Neil Parrish, who had become one of [B&H]’s main organisers, boasted to the media that he would be available at 4.30pm on the station concourse to give interviews. A Sky News reporter was worried that he wouldn’t be able to find the bones and was told that as they were expecting between 1,000 and 2,000 at the station, “you’ll have no trouble finding us”. By a strange coincidence, 4.30pm was when London AFA announced that they were also calling a counter-demonstration at the station.

We took about twenty stewards down from Manchester. All the usual suspects were present, including Gerry, Steve, Wigan Mike, Gary the Axe, Solo, Big Dave and the rest. We eventually arrived in the Smoke at 1pm and met up with the London AFA lads in a pub on the Holloway Road. AFA groups from around the country were arriving all the time, swelling numbers to about 200. The atmosphere was tense because everyone knew that this was the big one. It really was a case of do or die. We had a fair-sized mob out that day, with good numbers from Liverpool, Doncaster and London itself, but it looked tiny in comparison to what I knew we could expect to find at Waterloo.

I tried to push all thoughts of what lay ahead to the back of my mind. I was nervous and tense but did my best to appear laid back and unconcerned. Sometimes it just hits you like that. Sometimes you’re really buzzing and up for it, while at others you get a queasy feeling in the pit of your stomach. Either way you have to force yourself to stay cool, especially when you are in a position where other people are relying on you to keep a clear head.

At 3.20pm, AFA’s Stewards’ Group appeared on the station concourse at Waterloo, causing a number of bones to flee for their lives. Three boneheads drinking in the station were set upon. The police tried to push their way through the AFA mob crowding at the entrance to the bar in an attempt to arrest those inside, and in doing so missed the guilty parties making good their escape through another exit not ten feet away. We heard rumours afterwards that these first casualties were in fact plainclothes police sent to Waterloo to infiltrate [B&H].

Both Steve and Gerry were involved in early exchanges with the [neo-Nazis], but Gerry hurt his hand punching someone on the side of the head. He spent the rest of the afternoon complaining about it. “I think I’ve broken ma fuckin’ knuckle”, he moaned.

More boneheads were attacked as they entered the station, and the police were forced to cordon off the [neo-Nazis] in the middle of the station concourse. Along with several other AFA stewards I infiltrated the cordon. Once inside I sidled up behind the biggest bonehead I could find and started kicking him surreptitiously in the back of the ankles.

“You’re going to die when we get out of here”, I whispered into his ear.

He tried to ignore me, but he was shaking like a leaf.

“Did you hear me, you baldy wanker?” I goaded. “When we get out of here I’m going to kill you.”

All the colour had drained out of him and for a moment I thought he was going to faint. His misery was brought to an end when the police decided to escort the [neo-Nazis] out of the station to safety, but once outside, and out of view of the CCTV cameras, they were astonished when their escort suddenly imploded from within as the anti-fascists turned on the boneheads. The bonehead I was goading earlier had shot off like a rabbit, and I only managed to land a couple of glancing blows on the back of his head.

This scenario was re-enacted several times over the next hour and a half as we continued to resist police attempts to force us off the station concourse. While this game of cat and mouse was going on, other groups of anti-fascists were ambushing boneheads coming up the escalators from the tube station.

I was arrested by the Transport Police at Waterloo Station during one of these scuffles, but for some reason I was never charged with anything, and to my surprise they released me an hour or so later with a warning to leave the immediate area or risk being arrested again. I ignored the warning of course. There was no way I was going to miss this.

The Transport Police at Waterloo Station have a little office at the side of the concourse, and I basically took two steps out of the front door and I was smack bang in the middle of a full-scale riot again. Boneheads were still being chased and battered everywhere you looked, and the police had completely lost control of the situation.

By 5pm, there were nearly 1,000 anti-fascists on the concourse and fights were still breaking out all over the place. Shortly afterwards, the station was shut down at the request of the manager, freeing AFA from the responsibility of holding the concourse any longer and allowing us to surge out into the streets to confront the groups of boneheads mobbing up outside. Neil Parrish was nowhere to be seen.

Everywhere you looked boneheads were being battered and chased. A group of fifty right-wing casuals got themselves trapped under a footbridge, and despite being surrounded by riot police they came under attack from all sides, including an aerial bombardment of broken quarry tiles from the footbridge above…

Elsewhere, individuals and small groups arriving on foot or by car were picked off as they approached the station. One carload of bones was trapped when the driver made the unfortunate mistake of leaving his window wound down, providing an opportunistic anti-fascist with the chance to reach in and turn his engine off and remove the keys before the vehicle was attacked. The immobile car was nearly turned over.

I saw one panic-stricken bonehead run the entire length of the street with his arms covering his head to protect himself. A sensible enough precaution except for the fact that he couldn’t see where he was going and kept running into groups of anti-fascists who gave him the occasional dig as he ran past them. Eventually someone put him out of his misery and tripped him up. I caught him a beauty as he fell, my boot going upwards as he was falling forwards. Within seconds he was unconscious.

Four stations had now been shut down in the area due to “rioting”, including Charing Cross, making it difficult for anyone to reach Waterloo, although a large mob of bones arrived on foot via the footbridge across the Thames. They soon wished they hadn’t as they immediately came under attack. A number of football supporters from various clubs, including Arsenal, QPR, Millwall and Chelsea also found their way to the area and joined one side or the other according to their political beliefs.

The football supporters mostly arrived at Waterloo in ones or twos, or in small groups. Some were attempting to make their way home after the match, while others were attracted to the area by radio reports of the rioting. Millwall and Chelsea arrived mob-handed. Chelsea, as expected, were pretty much on the side of [B&H]. The situation with Millwall was less clear-cut. Everyone expected them to be 100 per cent behind the fash but when one of Millwall’s main men was approached by Nicky Cooper of the NF pleading for help on [B&H]’s behalf, he got more than he bargained for. He was apparently sent sprawling by a vicious punch and told, “We’ve come to kick their heads in, not go to their fucking stupid gig”. However, another well-known face at Millwall, “Tags” or “Taggart”, collapsed with a heart attack in the middle of the fascist ranks after coming under an anti-fascist bombardment of bricks and paving slabs.

Skirmishes continued all around Waterloo as the [neo-Nazis] and their police escorts came under concerted attack by large numbers of anti-fascists. The police did not know what to do with their escorts and the fascists themselves did not know where the venue was because Neil Parrish and the rest of the organisers were sat in a pub at Victoria Station. When phone calls were made by the trapped fascists to the organisers demanding that they either be given the venue details or be rescued, they were told that they should try to make their way to Victoria where they would be told the location of the gig…

Eventually the police managed to get things under control and escorted the remaining fash to Temple tube station where they were put on a commandeered train out of the area. In the end, less than 400 got into the gig at the Yorkshire Grey pub in Eltham, south-east London. The anti-fascists, meanwhile, were broken up into small groups by the police, cordoned off and escorted on foot across the Thames towards central and north London…

The papers the next morning all carried reports of the “Battle of Waterloo” and on the whole the reports were fairly accurate, except for the Sunday Times, which attributed the whole thing to the Anti-Nazi League [an SWP front oganisation]. This might have been because the ANL actually sent out a press release claiming responsibility. On a similar note, I cannot let the occasion pass without mentioning a small lefty sect by the name of Workers’ Power, who amid all the carnage and rioting at Waterloo, actually tried to do a paper sale!

On a foggy night in [September] 1993, Ian Stuart died in a car-crash in Derbyshire. His death opened the door for Combat 18 to muscle in on the Blood and Honour cash cow.

Blood & Honour ISD 2006 Memorial Gig : Tonight at The Birmingham Hotel, Collingwood

Huh.

In a return to an earlier tradition, tonight’s Ian Stuart is Dead celebration — co-sponsored by the neo-Nazi Blood & Honour Australia and Southern Cross Hammerskins — is being held at The Birmingham Hotel.

Location :

    The Birmingham Hotel
    Cnr Johnston and Smith Streets
    (333 Smith Street)
    Collingwood

    Phone 9417 2706

This is not the first time that such gigs have been held at “The Birmy”: the pub in question — and its fascist-sympathising proprietor — having previously enjoyed allowing the neo-Nazi Blood & Honour to hold organising meetings in its cosy surrounds.

In a nutshell, then, “The Birmy” is a fascist pub.

Interestingly, the pub also enjoys the patronage of local ‘punks’, who in the past have vociferously defended “The Birmy” as being one of supposedly few local venues willing to book punk gigs…

The Birmingham, or as regulars like to call it, “The Birmy”, is a great place to kick back and relax with the likes of the Melbourne alternative [sic/k] scene [read: violent neo-Nazi fucking skinheads]. With a free function room, Melbourne’s local punk bands are often seen playing here. It’s a relaxing night at “The Birmy” but be prepared for a crowd which is a little different.

Jett, Melbourne, 02/05

And tonight, “be prepared for a crowd which is [more than] a little different”: neo-Nazi fucking scum. Just four months ago, one of their Belgian comrades shot a (black) woman and a (white) baby to death on the streets of Antwerp.

And now Blood & Honour Australia — and the Southern Cross Hammerskins — have decided to “proudly present” a gig to mourn the death of their (other) Führer smack-bang in the middle of multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial, cosmopolitan Melbourne.

You’d have to wonder if they weren’t deliberately taking the piss.

KKKourageous KKKiwi Boneheads on Trial

In Bad News for Boneheads, three brave souls allegedly responsible for bashing, kidnapping and robbing a Canadian tourist have been committed to trial. According to an earlier report:

The charges stem from an alleged attack on Jeremie Kawerninski, 25, on April 18 [2006] after he was befriended in Wellington and offered a place to stay.

Later, the badly beaten tourist was dumped on a Naenae roadside half-naked with his feet bound and a pillowcase tied over his head after being set upon in a Lower Hutt house and robbed of $40.

He was in hospital for 10 days with a fractured nose, broken ribs, punctured lung and severe bruising.

$40.

Meanwhile, in Melbourne, scores of boneheads from across the country are gathering this weekend to celebrate the untimely death in 1993 of racist loser — and founder of Blood & HonourIan Stuart, on Saturday, September 23rd. The location of the gig — featuring Bail Up! (Melbourne), Blood Red Eagle (Newcastle) and Ultraviolence (?) — is being kept a closely-guarded secret: testimony to the contempt with which neo-Nazi scum are regarded by the general public.

In any event, let’s hope that the boys don’t go on a rampage (as has happened following other gigs)… and may Godwin help you if you’re identifiably Asian, black, brown, Jewish, Muslim, gay, lesbian, queer, left-wing, homeless or a person with a disability, and you happen to stumble across a mob of them, pissed, and looking for easy prey.

‘Men accused of bashing Canadian tourist to face trial’
[NZPA]
September 19, 2006

Three men accused of bashing, kidnapping and robbing a Canadian tourist have been committed to trial.

Mark Alexander Gage, 30, Jaydon Russell Borland, 30, and Jason George Gregory, 19, are jointly accused of aggravated robbery, kidnapping and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Jeremie Kawerninski on April 18 this year.

At a depositions hearing today Justices of the Peace in the Lower Hutt District Court ruled there was enough evidence for the three to stand trial.

The Crown alleges Mr Kawerninski met Borland, Gage, Gregory and two women at an internet cafe in central Wellington and went drinking with them.

He went with the group to the home of Benjamin Peter McPadden in Naenae, Lower Hutt, and while he was asleep the defendants discussed how much money they thought he had on him.

He was attacked, tied up with tape and a belt, had a pillow slip put over his head, and bundled into the boot of a car.

He was later dumped by the roadside.

A statement by Mr Kawerninski – who has left the country – has been suppressed until the trial judge could rule on its admissibility.

Defence lawyers for the three men argued there was insufficient evidence for a trial and there was no link between the men and the assault on Mr Kawerninski.

Borland’s lawyer Steve Gill said there was no proof to link the assault to his client.

“He didn’t even get in the car.”

Borland had heard the “thumping” going on but had walked in afterwards, he said.

Crown prosecutor Cameron Mander said there was a strong circumstantial case against the accused.

Mr Mander argued Borland had returned to the house prior to the banging being heard.

A text message from Borland to Gregory sent just before 9pm that evening had been retrieved which read: “That c*** has money, search him hard”, Mr Mander said.

The three men had returned to the house with muddy clothing and at least one had blood on their trousers, he said.

Some of Mr Kawerninski’s possessions had been found in a muddy field.

Mr Mander said a witness had a conversation several days after the assault with Gregory, who allegedly said: “Did we tell you we smashed up some Canadian guy?”

Defence lawyers had previously told the court Mr Kawerninski had “gone to ground” in Canada and was refusing to return to New Zealand.

In his ruling Mr Withy said the court had also heard Mr Kawerninski was willing to return.

The three men were remanded to appear in the High Court at Wellington on October 30.

McPadden, who faced joint charges, had conceded he had a case to answer and his evidence remained suppressed.

He was remanded on bail for a High Court callover on October 30.

Gage was also scheduled to appear in the Lower Hutt District Court on October 12 for a status hearing regarding a protection order.

Meanwhile, in Russia:

In the wake of racist pogroms in Kondologa, Karelia, local fascists attempted to capitalise on the events by seeking to ignite a movement in the Karelian capital, Petrozhavodsk. The fascist front organisation DPNI (Movement Against Illegal Migration), together with Zhirinovsky‘s pro-Kremlin puppet party LDPR, called a meeting for the 5th of September, but with little success – the number of active anti-fascists surpassing the number of fascists present. Of up to 300 people at the Mayor’s office in Petrozhavodsk, only 30 were active neo-Nazis, up to 50 were active anti-fascists*, 30 were journalists and 50 were cops. Neo-Nazis claim that 100 people signed their resolution, which demanded the expulsion of all immigrants from the city.

Weak shouts of “Long live Russia” were answered with loud shouts of “Death to fascism of all flavors, from bottom to the powers!” and other anti-fascist slogans. Anti-fascist Initiative of Petrozhavodsk carried a black flag and banners reading “Power gives birth to parasites” and “Oligarchy = new fascism”.

Anti-fascists gave interviews to the assembled media, pointing out that the main enemy of a common human being is an alliance of power, bourgeois and criminal. Whereas elites are internationalists — with accounts in the same banks and villas in the same islands — we are being encouraged to fight one another. So, we need an international as well – peace between races, war between classes!

On the 9th of September, the DPNI and LDPR attempted to have another, even less successful demonstration in Petrozhavodsk. It is obvious that the authorities are attempting to use the LDPR to provoke events around Russia, similar to Kondologa, but more under their control. On this occasion, 5-10 neo-Nazis were escorted by 40 cops and 15 journalists. 4 anti-fascists came and unrolled a banner “Death to fascism” and a black flag. Soon the neo-Nazis sent the cops against the anti-fascists, who were arrested: two were given a fine of 500 rubles (15 euros) in a court for “not fulfilling police orders”.

*Including, but not limited to, anarchists.

Spartacism… the continuing obsession…

…with a shake of the balaclava in the general direction of Asher:

The Communist Workers’ Group

CWG originated as the New Zealand Spartacist League (NZSL) [of which the only remnant trace I can find online is here] in 1970 under the influence of the Spartacist League-US (SL-US) “Declaration of Principles” [1998]. The NZSL split in 1972 in a dispute between Owen Gager and Bill Logan and Adaire Hannah essentially over joining the SL-US. Gager argued that the SL-US had not broken completely with the SWP-US, nor did he think that the SL-US represented any programmatic continuity with Trotsky. The theoretical basis for this position is argued in “James P Cannonism”

Gager went on to form the Communist Left of Australia (CLA) [huh?] in 1974 while Logan and Hannah set up a Spartacist group also in Australia. In 1981 Dave Bedggood then a member of the British RCP formed the Communist Left in NZ [huh?] in solidarity with CLA. The CLA split over a tactical difference with Gager in the mid 1980’s. Gager left and moved towards anarcho-communism. CLNZ had fusion talks with the Bolshevik Tendency (now IBT) in the late 1980’s and with Workers Power (LRCI) in the early 1990’s. CLNZ fused with the LRCI in 1992 as its NZ section, Workers Power (NZ) [which appears to have disappeared in the intervening years] and ceased fraternal relations with CLA.

Some members of WPNZ had differences within the LRCI’s over its movement away from Trotskyism in forming a united front with Yeltsin in August 1991, and its characterisation of the first period of the overthrow of the bureaucracy as a ‘political revolution’. The catalyst for the split was the LRCI’s refusal to defend Serbia from the NATO bombs of 1995. Half of WPNZ left to form the CWGNZ, along with the Bolivian and Peruvian sections of the LRCI who were either suspended or expelled.

These comrades formed [in a stroke of acronymic genius] the Liaison Committee of Militants for a Revolutionary Communist International (LCMRCI) in late 1995… See Declaration of the Proletarian Faction. Essentially, these fusions and splits were attempts to apply the original position of the NZSL and CLNZ on the defense of dialectics against post-war degenerate Trotskyism [aka Trotskyism with a pronounced limp]. Today the CWG fights inside the LCMRCI and in discussions with other tendencies for a 5th International understood to mean the return to the pre-war method and programme of the 4th International.

Contrary to his assertions, key to the political dispute with Balasubramaniam was our struggle to organise a proletarian-centred demonstration in defence of the Redfern militants that would be exemplary and a concretisation of our revolutionary program. ‘Manjit (the singing cabbie) goes international’
Stefan Armbruster
[ABC]
August 7, 2006

Brisbane’s famous singing taxi driver has hit the international stage with an appearance on the BBC World Service‘s Outlook program.

Many taxi users in Brisbane have already had the pleasure of a live performance by Indian-Australian Manjit Boparai, who is not afraid to belt out a few numbers to his captive audience.

Top of his hit parade is the patriotic, Punjabi-flavoured Song Australia in which he reveals his passion for his adopted country…

He emigrated from India in 1988 and took up taxi driving after moving to Brisbane in the mid-1990s.

Manjit’s hours behind the wheel have already paid off with an SBS Inside Australia feature and appearances on ABC radio in Brisbane.

He is also the subject of an Australian Film Commission-funded documentary due to go into production soon.

If you happen to pull Manjit for a ride, also check out his photo collection – including one of him with the PM – and just try and get away without buying a CD.

Keep your eyes peeled for the SBS-funded, Bollywood-style video which he says will feature Cathy Freeman.

He told the BBC that he hopes to get out of cabbing by the end of the year.

Pride. Integrity. Guts.

Tonight’s the night that we got the truck
We’re goin’ downtown gonna beat up drunks
Your turn to drive I’ll bring the beer
It’s the late, late shift no one to fear
And ride, ride how we ride
We ride, lowride

It’s roundup time where the good whores meet
Gonna drag one screaming off the street

And ride, ride how we ride

Got a [blue] uniform and a silver badge
Playin’ cops for real/playin’ cops for pay

Let’s ride, lowride

Pull down your dress here’s a kick in the ass
Let’s beat you blue ’til you shit in your pants
Don’t move, child got a big black stick
There’s six of us babe, so suck on my dick

And ride, ride how we ride
Let’s ride, lowride

The left newspapers might whine a bit
But the guys at the station they don’t give a shit
Dispatch calls are you doin’ something wicked?
No siree, jack, we’re just givin’ tickets

As we ride, ride, how we ride
Let’s ride, lowride

‘Beatings by police caught on secret film’
Jamie Berry
The Age
September 20, 2006

GRAPHIC video images of detectives beating and kicking a suspect in an interview room have rocked the inquiry into the Victoria Police’s disbanded armed offenders squad.

One of three detectives accused over the bashing collapsed in the County Court witness box yesterday after being shown the secretly filmed footage.

Another officer was warned against perjuring himself as he denied taking part in the bashing on the 11th floor of St Kilda Road police headquarters on May 10.

We all protected each other. When I arrived at St Kilda police station in 1985, no one spoke to me for months. It was explained to me that I was an unknown. I had not proven myself in battle (the streets). Could I be trusted? The brotherhood was at its thickest at St Kilda. The culture was such that you would not even think of blowing your nose, let alone any whistle.

The video, taken by a hidden camera installed in the interview room for the Office of Police Integrity, includes the voice of an officer threatening to remove the suspect’s ear.

The video was revealed on the second day of open public hearings into the squad, which was disbanded this month.

Three officers who appeared yesterday — Robert Lachlan Dabb, Mark Harrison Butterfield and Matthew Franc — all denied assaulting the suspect, identified only as A100.

The hearing was told that a bungled search for the suspect’s sawn-off shotgun and his stash from a jewellery store robbery sparked a two-hour interrogation in which he was beaten with a telephone after asking to make a call, slapped repeatedly about the face and kicked while being held on the ground.

At one stage, the suspect is allegedly struck four times in time with the words “F—— … armed … robbery … squad.”

The video shows detectives telling A100 to decide whether to be “all friendly and co-operative” or whether he will do it the “f—— hard, hard, hard way”.

When he does not answer, A100 appears to be pushed to the floor and one of the officers says: “Welcome to the armed robbery squad.”

The video shows one officer, alleged to be Detective Senior Constable Butterfield, repeatedly hitting A100, whose ear was bleeding, before telling him: “That ear’s coming off by the end of the day.”

The former head of the squad, Detective Inspector Bernie Rankin, also allegedly enters the room and tells A100 it’s going to be “a long old day for you, pal” and that “it might be a lot less painful and a lot easier for you” if he listens to advice.

Detective Senior Constable Dabb told the hearing he was unaware that a recording device had been placed in the room. He collapsed in the witness box after being shown some footage.

A group of men in the public gallery rushed to assist, lifting him back to his feet.

Senior Constable Dabb pulled at his tie and collar as the men led him from the room, and resisted attempts by security staff to usher him back in, telling them: “Get your hands off me.”

Senior Constable Dabb’s lawyer, Rowan Skinner, later said a doctor had issued a certificate saying he was medically unfit to give evidence until Thursday.

Earlier, Senior Constable Dabb said accusations by the OPI against the squad, revealed on Monday, were scurrilous.

The other accused officer, Sergeant Matthew Franc, denied kicking A100 while another officer pinned him to the ground.

Hartog Berkeley, QC, who is conducting the hearing, told Sergeant Franc to consider his options overnight and to “talk it over with a good friend” before “perjuring” himself further.

Mr Berkeley refused applications by media outlets for access to the video images.

Sean Cash, for Sergeant Franc, said the images — which he likened to the notorious police beating of Rodney King in Los Angeles — could “overwhelmingly prejudice” any potential trial.

Police Association secretary Paul Mullett said the officers were still entitled to a presumption of innocence. He labelled the hearing and the OPI’s use of hidden cameras in squad offices as “questionable”.

The hearing continues this morning at the County Court.

Meanwhile, Premier Steve Bracks has defended the OPI’s decision to make the inquiry open to the public. He said a closed hearing would be “an usual circumstance” and the OPI had the discretion to hold open hearings under state legislation.

Uncle Adolf : The Incestuous Coprophiliac

Come home tired, what a day I’ve had
News ain’t good from Stalingrad
I’ve been busy protecting the German race
So come on baby, defecate on my face

(Chorus) : So, come on baby, send it on down
Bend over Braun and gimme your brown
There’s trouble brewing in the Warsaw Pact
So hurry up Eva and move your digestive tract
Defecate on my face (x8)

Get to the bunker, looks like a stye
Turn on the TV, it’s all one big lie
Here, Eva, have these prunes to chew
We have ways of making you poo

(Chorus)

Here come the Russians, it’s near the end
Proud to say that my girl, never used an S-bend
What’s that, Eva? Your bowel is on strike?
Then it’s all over, for my Third Reich

(Chorus)

It was a relationship built on kinky sex that ended with a bullet 75 years ago. Police decided Geli Raubal had committed suicide. But evidence suggests she was…

‘SHOT BY UNCLE ADOLF’
Murray Davies
The Mirror
September 16, 2006

THEY found her face-down in a pool of blood, her red-stained nightdress pierced by a single bullet through the heart.

It is 75 years this week since the body of Hitler’s niece Angela “Geli” Raubal was discovered by servants at the Fuhrer’s Munich apartment.

Her death, by a bullet from the Nazi leader’s own pistol, was recorded as suicide. But there is compelling evidence to suggest the pretty 19-year-old – with whom Hitler was having a secret affair – was the first victim of the tyrant who would be responsible for the deaths of more than 50 million people.

Pro-Nazi police closed the case without an inquest or autopsy, while Geli’s body was quickly taken out of the country and buried in Vienna.

But the young woman who had captured the Fuhrer’s heart was seemingly in no mind to end her life on the night of September 18, 1931.

In fact the normally bubbly Geli was in the middle of writing a cheerful letter to a friend when, according to the official version of events, she put a gun to her chest and pulled the trigger.

Sixteen months later, Hitler became supreme ruler of Germany, and no one was allowed to breathe Geli’s name ever again.

The affair began after Hitler asked his destitute half-sister, Angela, to be his housekeeper at his mountain retreat in Bavaria.

She brought her two daughters and within months Hitler had fallen in love with the elder girl, a spirited, flirtatious 19-year-old brunette who called him “Uncle Alf” and became his constant companion.

To get Geli away from her mother’s watchful eye, Hitler moved her to his Munich apartment under the pretext of Geli studying medicine.

Hitler was madly jealous and and gave her no privacy or freedom but, while he was away, Geli still managed to spend nights with men, including Hitler’s chauffeur, Emil Maurice.

Geli confided to men she slept with, including Nazi boss Otto Strasser, that Hitler was frequently incapable of sexually satisfying her. He would make her undress and then he’d lie down on the floor so he could examine her closely, before demanding that she urinated on him.

She once confided to a friend: “You’d never believe the things he makes me do.”

By 1931 Nazi party chiefs were growing increasingly uneasy about Hitler’s relationship with his niece. The party was on the verge of a major breakthrough and a scandal would have wrecked Hitler’s chance of supreme victory. At the same time, Geli, now 23, was becoming increasingly frustrated after Hitler had refused to let her go to Vienna to study music.

On Friday September 18, 1931, Hitler was due to leave Munich, where the Nazis had their headquarters, for a rally in Hamburg.

Neighbours claimed to have heard Geli shouting to Hitler from their second-floor balcony as he was getting into his car. Hitler shouted back: “No. For the last time, no.” Geli shut herself away in her bedroom.

Next morning servants broke open the door and found her body. No one knows what they found or what they did before they called the police, but they settled on the story that Geli had committed suicide because she was worried her voice was not good enough to be a singer.

When the Nazis came to power 18 months later, they were able to doctor police records to fit the story. Detectives found Geli in a blue nightdress, lying face-down on the floor. Her arm was stretched towards Hitler’s Walther pistol on the couch. She had bled from a bullet hole over the heart which had pierced her lung.

On the table was a letter to a girlfriend which ended in the middle of the word “und” – German for “and”: “When I come to Vienna – hopefully soon – we’ll drive together to Semmering an…”

From the rigor mortis, the police doctor placed time of death as the previous evening but there was no inquest.

The bullet had entered above the heart and lodged in her lower back at hip level, meaning the gun had to be pointing downwards and the hand holding it higher than her heart – a strange way to commit suicide. None of Hitler’s servants admitted hearing a shot but they soon began to contradict themselves. Three different people claimed to have broken down Geli’s door.

At the time, the anti-Nazi Munchener Post reported that Geli’s nose had been broken and there were other injuries. There were also stories that Geli was pregnant.

The first detective on the scene, Heinrich Muller, rose to become head of the Gestapo while the Bavarian Minister of Justice, who hurriedly called off the investigation, became Reich Minister of Justice.

Geli was given a Catholic burial, even though to bury a suicide in hallowed ground was against church rules. The priest, Father Johann Pant, wrote to a French newspaper in 1939: “They pretended she committed suicide. From the fact I gave her a Christian burial you can draw your own conclusions.”

Hitler said he was 100 miles away in Nuremburg when he heard the news of Geli’s death, but at least one police investigator believed he was in the flat when the fatal shot was fired.

He wanted to charge Hitler with Geli’s death but was overruled by pro-Nazi officials.

FRITZ Gerlich, a German journalist, claimed that, instead of leaving that Friday, Hitler had dined with Geli in a restaurant and that Hitler, who seldom touched alcohol, drank beer.

When they went back to the apartment, there was a row and he shot her.

Gregor Strasser, once Hitler’s confidant, claimed he had to stop Hitler committing suicide after he’d shot Geli. Gerlich, Strasser and Strasser’s lawyer, who held his private papers, were killed when the Nazis settled political and personal scores in the infamous Night of the Long Knives in 1933. So too was the owner of the restaurant where Hitler and Geli may have had their last meal.

Two years earlier Hitler had written to Geli, explicitly detailing his sado-masochist perversions, which fell into the wrong hands.

Father Bernhard Stempfle, a friend of the Fuhrer who managed to buy it back and return it to him, was also murdered in the Night of the Long Knives.

Whether or not Hitler shot Geli, he came close to a nervous breakdown after her death. “Geli’s death had such a devastating effect on Hitler it changed his relationship to everyone else,” said his deputy, Hermann Goering.

By the time he had become Germany’s supreme leader Adolf Hitler was married, but Eva Braun would never take Geli’s place in his heart.

On a table beside the body was a letter to a girlfriend, ending in the middle of the word “and”

…you can read more about Hitler: History’s Aryan Potty Mouth here:

On a spring afternoon in 1930, Hitler wore his favorite uniform when Geli Raubal came for a visit: black trousers and a khaki military lounge jacket without insignia. Geli dished him up his favorite meal, a porridge soup made of flour, butter and caraway seeds seasoned lightly with salt and vinegar. When finished with his soup, Hitler gazed longingly at Geli, a pretty blonde 17-year-old, his half-niece. (Geli’s mother was Hitler’s half-sister.)

Hitler, who had been involved with Geli for about a year, moved next to her, put his arm around her and asked her to do something. “Oh, Uncle Alfy, I don’t know, that’s so disgusting.”

But Hitler always got his way. Geli complied. Hitler took off his uniform and stretched out naked on the floor. Geli squatted over him, pissed on his chest and then took a dump on the face of the Fuehrer.

Millions would have loved to do the same.

Did this happen? Historical evidence suggests Geli and some other frauleins treated Hitler to golden showers, and maybe a brown out or two…

“There’s today a really spiritual quality in the willingness of Germans to devote themselves to the well-being of the state.”

Neo-Nazis on the march in Germany

‘Far-right party wins seats in German election’
Mark Landler
The New York Times
September 17, 2006

FRANKFURT A far-right party made further inroads in Germany’s economically fragile east on Sunday, winning seats in a state election in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, a lonely land of farms and fishing villages that is the home constituency of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The National Democratic Party, which openly espouses xenophobic and neo-Nazi views, was projected to win slightly more than 7 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results. That was less than analysts here had feared, but enough to clear the threshold of 5 percent for seats in the state legislature.

Extreme-right parties will now be represented in three of Germany’s six eastern states – a trend that worries officials and underlines the divide between the country’s eastern and western halves. Far-right parties have negligible support in more-prosperous western Germany.

“This shows the extreme right is a stable and growing force in the east, but it is not an earthquake,” said Hajo Funke, a political scientist at the Free University of Berlin. “It’s not a danger for our democracy.”

The result, however, is a rebuke for Merkel and her conservative party, the Christian Democratic Union, which lost votes in Mecklenburg and fared even worse in the second of the two state legislative elections on Sunday, in Berlin. There, the popular mayor, Klaus Wowereit, led his Social Democratic Party to a comfortable victory.

Voters appeared to be punishing Merkel’s party, 10 months after it squeaked into power in an unwieldy “grand coalition” with the Social Democrats. The Social Democrats, who govern Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, lost ground there, too, and it was not clear whether they could salvage their coalition with the Party of Democratic Socialism, the former East German Communist party.

Merkel, who began her political career in Mecklenburg 15 years ago, has tried to focus attention on the region, inviting President Bush in July for a visit. But the state has one of the highest unemployment rates in Germany, which makes it a breeding ground for extremism, analysts say.

The National Democratic Party, which the German government once tried to ban, won seats in Saxony, a similarly depressed eastern state, in 2004. Another far-right party is represented in Brandenburg, the state that surrounds Berlin.

“The grand coalition hasn’t presented a forceful program to tackle Germany’s problems,” Funke said. “These parties take advantage of the frustration of those who have no chance of a social or economic future.”

One of the few winners on Sunday was Wowereit, who was given a strong mandate as mayor of Berlin, with the choice of renewing his coalition with the Party of Democratic Socialism or forming a new one with the Greens, the largest vote-gainer since the last election, in 2001.

The victory may foretell a greater national role for Wowereit, a 52-year-old lawyer who has become a star in Berlin. His party-going style seems to suit his late-night town, and his disclosure before the last election that he is gay only added to his appeal. On Sunday, Wowereit appeared on stage with his partner, Jörn Kubicki, a neurosurgeon.

With the departure of Social Democratic leaders like Gerhard Schröder, and a lack of other rising stars, Wowereit has made his ambitions plain. “I would like to have more say that I have had in the last five years, when we had to clean up the city,” he said in a recent interview with the German magazine Stern.

Whether he has done so is a matter of debate. Berlin is strangled by debt, a jobless rate of nearly 20 percent and a shrinking commercial base. Wowereit, who is known as Wowi, prefers to focus on its role as a cultural center and tourist magnet. Berlin, he said last year, is “poor but sexy” – a line that has become a tongue-in-cheek slogan for the city.

His opponent, Friedbert Pflüger, a Christian Democratic member of Parliament, tried to portray the mayor as a lightweight. But in a city that rewards flamboyance, Pflüger, an establishment politician originally from the western city of Hanover, never stood a chance.

“Up until now, he hasn’t been a strong voice in politics on the national level,” Uwe Andersen, a political scientist at Ruhr University, said of Wowereit. “He may think this result strengthens his position.”
