From industrial sabotage to The Real Sabu…

On the one hand, Hector Xavier ‘Sabu’ Monsegur (New York, NY), aka ‘The Real Sabu’, has been exposed as an FBI informant. The Grauniad:

The world’s most notorious computer hacker has been working as an informer for the FBI for at least the last six months, it emerged on Tuesday, providing information that has helped contribute to the charging of five others, including two Britons, for computer hacking offences…

Among his apparent victims is a d00d from Chicago, Jeremy Hammond. Free Jeremy Hammond declares:

One of the few true electronic Robin Hoods, Jeremy Hammond uses his computer savvy to attack conservative groups and State operators. He is being charged with providing Wikileaks the documents for their latest Stratfor release.

He calls it an act of civil disobedience and we call it heroism[.]

On the other hand, the FBI’s jihad against the remnants of the ELF continues as on March 5 new dox became available regarding Frank Ambrose, another “activist turned informant who provided the government with information against Marie Mason and others”.

The threat of spending the rest of your life in prison for hacking sites/leaking dox/sabotaging industry is obviously a highly-effective tool in the FBI’s Magic Bag of Tricks, Monsegur apparently “being charged with 12 criminal counts of conspiracy to engage in computer hacking and other crimes last summer, crimes which carry a maximum sentence of 124 years and six months in prison”. As for Mason, she was:

…arrested in March 2008 after her former partner – Frank Ambrose – turned informant for the FBI. Facing a life sentence if she went to trial, Marie accepted a plea bargain in September 2008, admitting her involvement in the burning of an office connected to GMO research and the destruction of a piece of logging equipment. At her sentencing in February the following year, she received a sentence of almost 22 years.

Martin Fletcher, Downunder Newslinks, Premium WordPress Hosting

Every now and again, for one reason or another, I’ll receive a flurry of visits to my blog from people searching for particular terms. In the last month, for example, terms like “peter watson”, “nazi leaks”, “niko puhakka”, “hammerskins”, “combat 18” and so on have generated many hundreds of visits.

During the last few days, another term has cropped up: “Martin Fletcher”.

I’m not sure why this is the case, but I know of Martin Fletcher via his involvement in the local (Sydney) far-right, principally by way of a site he established in mid-2006 named “Downunder Newslinks”. The site was dedicated to promoting White nationalism and contained some very dubious material, including but not limited to WWII-era Serbian anti-Jewish propaganda. For example:

Beyond this, in October 2006, Martin re-published a game titled “Cronulla 2230”, which celebrated the ‘White Civil Uprising’ of December 2005.

The aim of the game
The object of the game is to become the wealthiest person in the Sutherland Shire through the buying, renting, and selling of property. The gaining of such wealth will enable you to fund patriotic organisations like Australia First and the Patriotic Youth League, so they can get into parliament and Win Back Australia!

The game’s publication was subject to the usual hue-and-cry from media and political circles (which quickly subsided) but Cronulla 2230 enjoyed a long shelf-life on Martin’s site: about 5 or 6 years or so, in fact.

I was next drawn to Martin’s site in October 2007, when racist anti-Sudanese pamphlets, attributed to the Australia First Party, were “distributed in Sydney’s western suburbs and across the New South Wales Central Coast”. (The party denied responsibility.) The pamphlets contained images drawn from US neo-Nazi Tom Metzger‘s group ‘White Aryan Resistance’, a gallery of which was also re-published on Martin’s site. For example:

In September 2007, Martin suggested that anti-fascists were too busy masturbating over them to actually post photos of the members of the neo-Nazi ‘black bloc’ which had assembled at the APEC protests that year. (A more extensive gallery was published in November. Aside from Darrin Hodges and Welf Herfurth, members and sympathisers of the New Right in attendance at the rally included former Macquarie University academic Andrew Fraser.)

A year later (September 2008), Martin was at it again, this time re-publishing another game titled ‘Muslim Massacre’. My blogging about the game prompted Martin to complain about aged photos of him and to declare that he no longer drank beer.

A month later, after noting Martin’s support for semi-pro Holocaust denialist Gerald Töben in his battles with British and German authorities/ZOG, I blogged in more detail about the ‘Downunder Newslinks’ site (‘Australian News for White People’) after it was the subject of various copyright claims by media organisations. Or to put it another way: “Downunder Newslinks has been attacked by the corrupt Mainstream Media within Australia. The media outlets do not want Australians to see the truth!”

As I noted at the time, The Truth — in addition to copyright violations, Cronulla 2230 and Muslim Massacre — included The Turner Diaries, The Myth of the Six Million, The International Jew, Did Six Million Really Die? and The Protocols of Zion.

Martin, in other words, espoused anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Muslim Massacre was again in the news in November, and I again took note of the fact that it was available for download both from Martin’s site and from that belonging to South Australian-based Creatard Colin Campbell.

Martin made a few more comments on my blog in 2008 and 2009, but as his activities were now largely confined to rabbiting on about Muslamic Ray Guns and the like — in which capacity Martin is one of a veritable army of keyboard warriors — there didn’t seem to be much point in focusing further attention on his political activities. It may, however, be worth noting that this shift from straight-forward anti-Semitism to Islamophobic posturing is part of a more general trend, much remarked-upon elsewhere, and suggestive of the dynamic and adaptive nature of contemporary fascism and right-wing populism more generally. Thus within the space of a few years Martin, like Darrin Hodges and (presumably) several other right-wing malcontents, went from being a supporter of the Australia First Party to its rivals in the Australian Protectionist Party. As part of this process, Martin gradually removed the neo-Nazi materials from his site. By at least August 2009 (and probably earlier), Martin had removed The Turner Diaries, The International Jew, The Protocols of Zion, and so on, and substituted tracts by Dennis McCormack, Jack Lang and Andrew Fraser.

Fast-forward to 2011, and the ‘Downunder Newslinks’ site (or ‘Australian Nationalist Resource’ as it was re-dubbed) is now gone. Martin continues to be online however, and the skills he honed during the period 2006–2011 promoting racism, xenophobia and the far right are now being used for commercial purposes as the owner of ‘Premium WordPress Hosting’.

I do everything that is WordPress Related. Hosting, theming, tweaking and site maintenance.

Avid PC gamer, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Unreal Tournament 3 and Team Fortress 2. Supporter of Open Source software. Forum junkie. Loves watching war movies, mainly movies involving submarines.

Martin still finds time to provide assistance to his kameraden, however, with clients including APP candidate Nicholas Hunter Folkes and APP zine Destiny.

Finally, on March 24, 2009 Martin wrote: “I really need to give you guys a new picture for your site use. That one is like 10 years old lol.” Hopefully this one will do:

15,000 hits per annum? F*ck.

News Media Council eh?

The second change arises from the fact that there are many newsletter publishers and bloggers, although no longer part of the ‘lonely pamphleteer’ tradition, who offer up-to-date reflections on current affairs. Quite a number have a very small audience. There are practical reasons for excluding from the definition of ‘news media’ publishers who do not have a sufficiently large audience. If a publisher distributes more than 3000 copies of print per issue or a news internet site has a minimum of 15 000 hits per annum it should be subject to the jurisdiction of the News Media Council, but not otherwise. These numbers are arbitrary, but a line must be drawn somewhere.

I wonder how the Council will measure hits from the blog? In any case, 15,000 hits per annum is bugger-all: I get that many page views in a week (or two).

While Malatesta provides an entertaining account of far-right tomfoolery in the UK, according to some, ex-SAffer turned proud Brit Arthur Kemp is a Great Big Nazi Liar. I wouldn’t know about that, but it’s certainly the case that anti-fascists-online reckon youse should copy, paste on your blog, tweet, stick on your Facebook page and otherwise disseminate this photo of Kemp.

Finally, on March 15 there will be a solidarity demo outside of the Bulgarian Embassy in London in support of imprisoned anti-fascist Jock Palfreeman, a 25-year-old Australian currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in Sofia, Bulgaria. I wrote an article about Jock’s case for the March 1 edition of Freedom newspaper and this month an appeal against his conviction was launched in the European Court of Human Rights.

Germany

Blood Must Flow is the title of a new doco on the neo-Nazi music underground in Germany.

The film “Blut muss Fliessen” (Blood Must Flow) looks at the neo-Nazi music scene in Germany, as well as in Austria, Italy and Hungary. The documentary, which takes its name from a song adopted by Nazi storm-troopers, features footage from neo-Nazi parties and concerts taken by an undercover reporter.

It is a timely topic: Last week, German authorities slapped hate-crimes charges on a neo-Nazi musician behind the 2010 CD “Adolf Hitler Lives.” Singer Daniel Giese of the band Gigi the Brown City Musicians and the record’s producer were charged in connection with hate-filled lyrics claiming that no Jews died in Auschwitz and celebrating a spate of killings—known in Germany as the “kebab murders”—targeting small businessmen of Turkish origin.

The killings were the focus of a national day of mourning on Feb. 23, with a Berlin ceremony featuring an address by Chancellor Angela Merkel and a nationwide moment of silence. The murder spree, which took place between 2000 and 2007, claimed the lives of eight Turks, a Greek man and a policewoman. In November, German authorities discovered that the murders were carried out by members of an extreme right-wing group called the National Socialist Underground.

Many observers see a strong connection between neo-Nazi music and far-right violence in general. In its latest annual report, the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution called the far-right music scene an essential tool to bring in new recruits…

Local neo-Nazis, both old school and new recruits, will be gathering in Brisbane in April. In January, Independent Queensland MP Rob Messenger launched a petition to stop the Hammered Festival from proceeding. As of this date, 1906 individuals have signed the petition “request[ing] the House to call on the Premier of Queensland and the Opposition Leader to commit to supporting legislative change that will ensure our state has the toughest laws in Australia which enable the banning and punishment of Neo Nazis and other race hate proponents’ activities”.

I recently received a few comments on The Strange Case of the Hacks.

For those of you coming in late: On July 4, 1998, two skinheads — Lin “Spit” Newborn, 24, and Dan Shersty, 20 — were murdered by boneheads in the rocky desert northwest of Las Vegas, USA. In 2001 one bonehead, John Edward Butler, was sentenced to death for the crime (in 2004 his sentence was commuted to life in prison). On March 1, 2012, three more boneheads — Melissa Hack, Ross Hack and Leland Jones — were charged with the murders. Melissa Hack was Butler’s boyfriend at the time of the murders and is accused of luring Dan and Spit into the desert where they were shot dead; her brother Ross was (allegedly) a Hammerskin (?) who fled the US shortly after the murders using a false passport. He remained overseas for six years. Upon his return he was charged with passport offences and sentenced to three years jail.

Three Individuals Charged with 1998 Racially-Motivated Murders of Two Men in Las Vegas

WASHINGTON – The Justice Department announced today that Ross Hack, 40, Leland Jones, 31, and Melissa Hack, 37, have been charged with first degree murder and firearms offenses in relation to the 1998 deaths of Lin Newborn and Daniel Shersty. The murders took place on land owned and managed by the Federal Bureau of Land Management within the Las Vegas northwest valley.

According to the indictment, which was unsealed today, between on or about July 3 and July 4, 1998, Ross Hack, Leland Jones, Melissa Hack and others not named in the indictment, allegedly aided and abetted each other in the premeditated shooting and killing of the two victims. A third man, John Butler, was convicted of the murders of Newborn and Shersty by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in 2000 and is serving two consecutive life sentences in state prison. Evidence at Butler’s trial indicated that the defendants were affiliated or associated with racist neo-Nazi “skinhead” groups at the time of the murders, and that Newborn, who was African-American, and Shersty, who was white, were members of the Anti-Racist Action Group, which is also known as the Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARPS). Both victims were in their 20s at the time of their deaths.

“This case demonstrates that the Department of Justice will be vigilant in working to ensure that every perpetrator of racially-motivated violence is brought to justice,” said Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division. “I commend the partnership between federal and local law enforcement agencies that led to the charges in this indictment and for continuing to investigate circumstances surrounding the victims’ deaths.”

“I commend the law enforcement agents and detectives for their persistence and efforts in this investigation,” said Daniel G. Bogden, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada. “We will pursue the prosecution of these defendants with equal vigor.”

“This week’s indictments and arrests in the brutal murders of Daniel Shertsy and Lin Newborn would not have been possible without the extraordinary effort and dedication of the FBI agents, Metro detectives and DOJ prosecutors who have worked on this matter,” said Kevin Favreau, FBI Special Agent in Charge in Las Vegas. “Even though it was difficult, and it took a very long time to fully investigate, the FBI and Metro never gave up on this case. And with the support of outstanding prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division in Washington, D.C., the public can rest assured that all those responsible for the murders of Daniel Shertsy and Lin Newborn will finally face justice.”

Ross Hack and Melissa Hack face potential penalties of life in prison or the death penalty. Jones, who was not yet 18 years old at the time of the murders, faces a potential penalty of life in prison.

This case is being investigated by the Las Vegas Division of the FBI and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen Bliss of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada and Trial Attorney Patricia Sumner of the Civil Rights Division’s Criminal Section.

An indictment is merely an accusation. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by the government at trial.

The anarchy.org.au website was re-launched last weekend along with a new anarchist zine called Sedition which you can download from the site. Sedition is a joint by Jura Books in Sydney, the Melbourne Anarchist Club and Organise! in Adelaide. Jura has organised a launch party for March 10; I dunno if Organise! will organise! anything.

I’ve blogged about Wolstencroft on a few prior occasions, mostly on account of his fascist politics. The last time I did so at any length was in January of last year. That post — Richard Wolstencroft ~versus~ Richard Wolstencroft — concerned Wolstencroft’s decision to take legal action against blogger Shane Lyons, who had allegedly defamed Wolstencroft by (re-)publishing comments Wolstencroft had made on his Facebook account. I’m unsure precisely what happened with regards these legal proceedings. Suffice it to say that the blogs in question no longer exist. Previously, in late August/early September 2010, Crikey film critic Luke Buckmaster took note of Lyons’ criticisms, and Wolstencroft was provided with an opportunity to defend his record and to slam Lyons’.

Perhaps the most controversial of Wolstencroft’s views are historical. For example, Holocaust denial and Nazi apologetics:

Who is Peter Watson?

Given the nature of much of the media commentary that’s been generated in the wake of his forced resignation from the ALP, there’s likely not much point reviewing Peter Watson’s political (d)evolution over the last 5 or so years — but then again…

For the record, and to the best of my knowledge, Peter’s downfall began with the publication of an article in Brisbane’s Courier Mail on February 20 (soon edited in light of breaking news). This article cites several comments by a ‘Peter Watson’. Thus:

Yesterday, The Courier-Mail reported that a teenage Labor candidate has been forced to resign after being linked to online rants about homophobia and neo-nazis.

Peter Watson, 19, was stood aside as Labor’s candidate for the safe conservative seat of Southern Downs even though the party insisted he was not responsible for some of the highly offensive material.

Among posts under the name “Peter Watson”, homosexuals are labelled as “degenerates” who should be “wiped out”.

“Homosexuality and pedophilia go hand in hand with each other,” the post states.

“To deal with one you must deal with the other in order to wipe them from society.”

In another post under the name “Peter Watson aka Stalinist”, the contributor insists he has masqueraded as a neo-nazi to “get information out of the enemy”.

“I gave the information about the stupid neo-nazis to my comrades and they dealt with the neo-nazis,” it states.

“Now most of those neo-nazis are in jail or bashed thanks to my lie.”

There is also a post in which a “Peter Watson” promises to give out information on fellow Labor Party members as part of his “long battle against the commies in the branch here in Warwick”.

One post from 2007 also talks about dressing up as Soviet soldiers to fight the US.

“We all attack each other with water guns, rocks, sticks,” it says.

All of these comments (bar one) were posted on my blog, on August 6 and November 13, 2007 and March 26, 2009 and credited to ‘Peter Watson’ (2009) or ‘Peter Watson aka Stalinist’ (2007). They are among literally hundreds of such comments made by Peter.

In addition to spamming my blog with nonsense and contributing to numerous other marginal politically-oriented websites — including, notably, Stormfront and Vanguard News Network — one of the first sites Peter himself created was at cpwcpw.wetpaint.com. This site served as the home of first the ‘Communist Party of Warwick’ then the ‘Stalinist League of Australia’, from November 9, 2006 to July 9, 2008.

After this date, Peter made many further comments on my blog.

On March 19, 2009, for example, Peter wrote in praise of the Nazi Strassers, writing HAIL STRASSER; later that month, on the same date as he posted his diatribe on homosexuals, Peter stated that he “would not be rejoining the Australia First Party”; on May Day he expressed appreciation for YouTube channel ‘genocidal88’, a channel maintained by a local Hammerskin and used to promote neo-Nazi propaganda; on June 25 Peter dismissed local KKK member ‘Hobbit’ and claimed to have been banned from the Australian New Nation forum (a White nationalist website established by remnants of the ‘White Pride Coalition of Australia’, including the authors of ‘Whitelaw Towers’); on July 9 he stated that he was a “National Socialist” — and had been since the beginning of that year.

In 2010 Peter (‘supremerat’) commented on a YouTube video. He stated that he wished that whining Jews would be gassed to death.

In November 2011, Peter helped to distribute copies of The Spearhead about Warwick. This enterprise earned him an article in the local paper and a rebuke from concerned locals.

It was sometime in 2011 (or possibly 2010) that Peter began re-imagining himself as ‘Australian New National Action’, a successor organisation to Dr James Saleam’s ‘National Action’, a fascist groupuscule born in the 1980s. According to its Contacts page, ANNA was responsible for producing The Spearhead zine.

Liberal democracy has been a failure and must be destroyed. The opposition, who are the enemies of Australia, must be smashed and thrown into concentration camps. A man who will destroy multiculturalism and all other forms of social liberalism and who will restore White Australia at all costs. Australia needs a modern day Fidel Castro, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini or a General Franco. Or the Australian Defence Force could take power in a military coup and execute the Federal Government and establish a military junta. How about it, His Excellency President of the Republic of Greater Australia and Major General of the Australian Defence Force Peter Watson Conquerer of Asia and the Pacific Defeater of International Capitalism Generalissimo and Supreme Leader?

This comment was posted after Peter had been nominated as the ALP candidate for Southern Downs and many weeks prior to his removal from that position and expulsion from the party.

Its open embrace of fascism has not been commented upon in the media.

Further evidence regarding Peter’s political views of the last year or two (and thus following his formal entry into adulthood) are to be found on Stormfront (where he posted using a variety of handles) and on the VNN forum where Peter adopted the handle ‘V.K.’. In fact, it would appear that Peter continues to post on VNN, even appealing to fellow users to vote in his favour in an online poll regarding the fairness of his expulsion from the ALP, denying allegations by fellow neo-Nazis that he is a traitor, and expressing fears that his writings in The Spearhead may make him a target for violent retribution. In one thread, Peter also claims to have been fined $500 for the crime of ‘public nuisance’, viz, abusing Aborigines in the street.

Malas noticias paras los boneheads: Spanish (Celtiberian) Hammerskins Unlawful. Still.

[February 17, 2012] A court in Madrid has upheld an earlier, 2009 decision to outlaw the Hammerskins in Spain on the basis of their promotion of hatred and violence. Established in 2000, 15 members of the franchise were sent to prison in July 2009 following a police investigation and arrests in March 2004.

Nikita Kalin : (another) anarchist anti-fascist murdered in Russia

I just received word that several weeks ago a young anarchist and anti-fascist from Samara, Russia named Nikita Kalin was murdered. Below is the text produced by avtonom.org. The story will likely be ignored by English-language media. The tone for much coverage of anti-fascist struggle in Russia is perhaps best expressed in Jake Rudnitsky’s February 2006 article for The eXile on ‘Scared Skins’. The yuppie scribbler writes: “Had I had the good sense to call [National Bolshevik ideologue] Edward Limonov before embarking on this fool’s errant, I could have saved myself a lot of trouble. Limonov told me, “I have no interest in these guys. They’re irrational.” After all my efforts to secure an interview, I can safely say, he’s right. Ukrop’s name says it all, really. AntiFA is the dill of Russia’s extremist politics: bland, irrelevant, and easily ignored.”

For its part, before signing a formal agreement with the Indian government to sell it uranium in December 2011, the Australian government’s decision to sell uranium to Russia was cemented over the dead body of Russian anarchist Ilya Borodaenko. Borodaenko was murdered in July 2007 by neo-Nazi thugs (‘hooligans’ in the lexicon of the Russian state) at the behest of local authorities, keen to destroy the environmental camp which Ilya had joined and which had been established at Angarsk, a small industrial town in south-eastern Siberia, established in 1948, and home to The International Uranium Enrichment Centre.

Anarchist anti-fascist murdered in Samara, Russia – friends and family need support!

9th of February, 6:30 in the morning in area of institute “FIAN” a janitor found body of Nikita Kalin, born in 1991. 8:00 police arrived, and 11:00 AM police contacted mother of the murdered. According to mother, Nikita was stabbed 61 times, besides this his ribs were fractured multiple times, and head was wounded as well. No property was stolen. Currently a suspect of the murder is arrested, blood of Nikita was found in clothes of the arrested.

It is obvious, that Nikita was attacked with a group, and police also told to mother off the record, that detained suspect is a national socialist activist, and refuses to name any suspects. Besides brutality of the murder, investigation has still not questioned mother of Nikita, or his friend who was the last person who saw it. Due to this, we suppose that there will be an attempt to cover the case, as it often [happens] in Russia. However, suspect has already hired a lawyer.

We suspect, that investigation is working on interests of the arrested, and thus support is necessary. At this point, a human rights organisation has provided a lawyer, but funds are still needed for funeral costs.

Nikita was from a simple working class family, and never hide his anti-fascist and anarchist views.

The post — Former BNP Man Uses Copyright and Libel Laws to Stifle “Nazi” Picture — is in turn a x-post from the Index on Censorship Blog.

Arthur Kemp, the British National Party’s former foreign affairs spokesman and webmaster has forced several internet service providers (ISPs) to remove images of him apparently posing next to Nazi memorabilia from left wing and anti-fascist blogs. Kemp, originally from South Africa, claims the image is faked, and is being circulated maliciously by his ex-wife.

In his efforts to suppress the image, Kemp has employed a range of the tools available to the online censor, using takedown notices containing claims of copyright infringement and defamation…

Funnily enough, Kemp has recently been pictured with another South African fascist named ‘Bep’:

One of the founding members of the Herefordshire British National Party branch is a convicted terrorist. South African, Lambertus Nieuwhof (or ‘Bep’ as he is more commonly known), is a previous member of a white supremacist group that planted a bomb in a mixed-race school in 1992. Bep, who was part of Eugene Terre’Blanche’s Afrikaner Resistance Movement, apparently received a 12 month suspended sentence for his part in the bomb plot.
