‘Disgusting’ website urged offensive against Indians

AN Australian website urging a “hate offensive” against Indians was condemned as “disgusting”, while fears grow that racial tensions will escalate.

For the past six months, Melbourne man Patrick O’Sullivan has posted comments onto a white supremacy forum about how “evil” Indians were and urged others to participate in a “Summer hate offensive” in the Victorian city.

In a post just before Christmas, he asked for people to call him if they wanted to participate.

“For those of you in or nearby Melbourne, contact me. This summer a lot of Race Hate is occurring! RAHOWA!”

RAHOWA is understood to stand for Racial Holy War.

Senior police and Indian students deplored the web comments but police said they doubted they had caused a spate of assaults on Indian students, despite members of the forum pledging to join in the “offensive”.

Mr O’Sullivan, who was jailed in 2002 for stabbing a man who accused him of not being a Nazi due to his Irish blood, told news.com.au that the posts were not intended to incite violence and that he was now a peaceful man.

He said his rallying call for a “Summer hate offensive” was a peaceful way to recruit people into the Creativity Movement, whose website describes itself as a “Progressive Pro-White Religion”.

In late November, Mr O’Sullivan posted a comment – using the name “RAWHOWA NOW” – on a neo-Nazi forum which said he was sick of “Dirty F**king Indians”.

“They infest the Melbourne area. I could write all day (about) how evil and putrid those scum are… one particularly infuriating thing about these curry n*ggers is their arrogance,” he said.

“I think this may seem (to have originated) from the apathy of Whites not putting tem (sic) in their place. Those browm (sic) maggots used to get spat on, tolchocked and on occasion even stabbed and/or hospitalised.

“I’m not saying to commit illegal acts, violence etc. This is merely and observation of mine.”

A few points:

Pat’s Summer Offensive was launched on Stormfront in December 2007 — not 2008. (He posts on that diseased forum using the handle ‘Rev.Patrick.-WCOTC’.)
Pat’s posts on SF may be divided into three categories: 1. Racial hatred. 2. Denunciations of other racists. 3. Appreciation of the talents of various blonde female TV personalities.
IRL, Pat spends his days wandering around Melbourne putting stickers up promoting his Church.
Late last year, a bonehead was filmed in Melbourne’s Chinatown, racially abusing random passers-by — including a small group of Koori children… More details to follow.

Bonus!

Who is Patrick O’Sullivan and where does he come from?

Full name, Patrick John O’Sullivan. In 1988, O’Sullivan lived in Adelaide (South Australia), where as a sixteen year old self-proclaimed ‘Bonehead’ he made contact with the Nationalist political party, Australian National Action (ANA). By 1989, he had made the move to Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) where he was later expelled from the party along with several others after a failed attempted takeover. In 1995 in an attempt to shut down ANA operations, O’Sullivan swore out a complaint against the Chairman of ANA, Michael Brander, for assault (a complaint which he later withdrew).

Peter Coleman, David Palmer and Robert Leys: In the years 1998 – 2001, O’Sullivan worked for Peter Coleman as an assistant in his militaria business. On that basis he travelled the country with him. The 1999 campaign against the One Nation Party, designed by a Greg Roberts of the Sydney Morning Herald, had Peter Coleman, David Palmer and Patrick O’Sullivan pretending to represent the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and the World Church of the Creator (WCOTC), respectively. At no point was the reader or viewer of the shocking tales of a supposed “neo-Nazi” takover of One Nation Party told O’Sullivan was Coleman’s employee, let alone that the three were acting alone and had no connection to the American groups they claimed to represent. Robert Leys, who was also an associate of Coleman, Palmer and O’Sullivan, had earlier falsely claimed to represent the WCOTC in Australia as a reverend.

O’Sullivan did, however, eventually join the WCOTC; where he spent the next few years abusing WCOTC leader, Matt Hale, behind his back for refusing to expel those Australian WCOTC members whom O’Sullivan did not personally approve.

In 2002, O’Sullivan was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for the stabbing of a Bonehead at a party. All of which he spent in protective custody where he proudly declared himself to be a ‘Political Prisoner’ and maintained a constant, if government monitored, dialogue with the marginalized gang elements within the WCOTC – who upon Matt Hale’s arrest, acted together in a coup to oust hundreds of members from the Church and gain control of it for themselves. Following his release from prison, O’Sullivan quickly siezed upon his reputation for martyrdom and used it to personally expel more than forty Church members within three months. These days, the group is known as The Creativity Movement (TCM). O’Sullivan is the leader and only remaining member from when the group was known as the WCOTC. Other than symbols and terminology, it has no association with the former World Church of the Creator.

Who is Peter John Coleman and where does he come from?

A resident of Merrylands, Sydney, Coleman owns a mail-order business selling military regalia. He has been the deputy leader of the West Australian-based neo-Nazi group, the Australian Nationalists Movement, and the deputy leader of David Palmer’s NSDAP group (see below). In 1999 Coleman was appointed Grand Titan (provincial head) or Exalted Cyclops (chapter president) of the Imperial Klans of America – Realm of Australia. Coleman has suggested that he recruited for his group at branch meetings of the One Nation Party, of which he was a member. He was later expelled by One Nation once his association with the klan became known.

In the September-October 1999 issue of the newsletter of the Imperial Klans of America, Imperial Wizard (national leader) Ron Edwards confirmed Coleman’s appointment as the head of the group’s Australian arm. Edwards stated that Coleman was in charge of three klaverns in Australia with a growing membership. Coleman has claimed that his Sydney klavern has 30 members.

Big Flame 4 grumpy cat

Big Flame were a Revolutionary Socialist Feminist organisation with a working class orientation in England. Founded in Liverpool in 1970, the group initially grew rapidly in the then prevailing climate on the left with branches appearing in a number of cities. One of the key sentences in the platform published in each issue of the newspaper was the statement that a revolutionary party was necessary but that “Big Flame is not that party, nor is it the embryo of that party”. This had the advantage of distinguishing them from some small groups who saw themselves as much more important than they were, but posed the problem of the ‘party’s’ real reason for existence.

Now Big Flame got blog! Obviously, a revolutionary blogosphere is very necessary, but…

Australia, India, racism, students

On the one hand:

There is no doubt that Indian students in Melbourne feel threatened, and there is evidence that some of the attacks on Indian students have been racially motivated. But it does not follow from either of these facts that there is widespread hostility to Indians in Australia, that racism is increasing, or that Melbourne is a more dangerous city than, say, Mumbai. On the contrary, all the available evidence attests to the fact that Australia generally, and its large cities like Melbourne and Sydney in particular, continue to become more culturally diverse and tolerant, as they have for many decades. And by global standards, the level of violent crime in Australian cities is low.

On the other hand:

Nobody, but nobody, is willing to call a spade a spade and slam the perpetrators for what this is — latent racism in society coming to the fore. Everyone, the police first and foremost, is pussyfooting around the problem and trying to characterise the naked violence as anything but an expression of racial hostility.

As long as this goes on, we’ll continue to see more of such senseless violence in the suburbs. And it will embolden others in other regions of the country who have feelings of the same kind to express themselves with sticks, stones and knives.

It amazes me that the authorities don’t realise that the need of the hour is to out the cause. Yes, these savage beatings are one of the effects of a feeling of hostility within, fed by ill-informed radio jocks and others, over the perception that a foreign race is taking over the suburbs.

Not unexpectedly, following the peace rally and then occupation of the intersection of Flinders & Swanston Streets on Sunday evening/Monday morning — an action which was condemned by the Federation of Indian Students of Australia Inc. (FISA) — Victorian Police Chief Commissioner Simon Overland ‘blamed a group of “rabble-rousers” for hijacking a peaceful demonstration, bringing in alcohol and weapons. He said most of them weren’t Indian and the situation got out of control.’

A statement, presumably, intended to explain why, in dispersing the crowd, police were forced to bust some heads. Witnesses claim “(There were) six (officers) to one guy who was sitting down peacefully, who was punched and dragged”; “a sitting protester was knocked unconscious by repeated punches to the head and another was hospitalised with a broken thumb”; approximately 18 were arrested.

Interviewed on 3AW, ‘When asked by Ross Stevenson whether the protest was ‘hijacked’ by people with different agendas, Overland confirmed this was the case. “I was down there late last night – and there were clearly people in there who had their own agenda and had little to do with the issue confronting Indian students,” he said. “I think [their] agenda is just to cause as much trouble as they can”.’

Other sources confirm the presence of foreign trouble-makers. Mick Armstrong of Socialist Alternative stated:

I was one of the organisers of the Indian student demo from the Melbourne Racism is Bad Coalition and I am also in Socialist Alternative.

The anarchist crazies involved in the ultra-violence were in no serious sense part of the demo. Just like their black bloc mates in Europe they simply exploited the demo for their own purposes.

Right throughout the lead-up to the demo they made clear their hostility to and contempt for other protesters. On the day they did all they could to disrupt the demonstration and were hostile, abusive, threatening and ultra-sectarian towards people on the demo.

Australia, fortunately, has not previously been blighted by the sort of black bloc anarchist activities which have had such a disastrous impact on demonstrations in Europe. These people are simply provocateurs that open up protests to police repression. In Europe their ranks have been riddled by police agents and fascists.

What gave them a certain critical mass at the Indian student demo was the presence of considerable numbers of anarchists from overseas. One of our members from New Zealand said he recognised at least 40 NZ anarchists. He knew at least 20 of them by name. There were also a considerable number of black bloc anarchists from Europe. We know of people from Sweden, Germany and England. These people are like football hooligans who travel the world looking for violence.

On top of that there were also a considerable number of anarchists from interstate.

Because of the behaviour of these provocateurs the media and the law and order brigade are having a field day.

The left should offer no comfort to these crazies. We should do whatever we can to isolate them. They are wreckers. If they grow in Australia it will simply make it harder to build future protests and movements.

Statistically speaking:

Police figures reveal a 35 per cent increase in attacks on Indians between 2006/07 and 2007/08.

Statewide figures show 1,447 people of Indian origin were victims of crimes such as robberies and assaults in 2007/08, an increase from 1,082 the previous year.

There were a total of 36,765 victims in the state in 2007/08, according to Victoria Police.

“…But while there have been some awful assaults on individuals visiting from the subcontinent, there’s no evidence of a co-ordinated racist campaign, or of disinterest by the state. The idea of communal or political complicity in the attacks is insane.

There have been co-ordinated racist campaigns against foreign students in Australia before. During the 1980s the neo-Nazi group Australian National Action was responsible for a number of attacks on Asian students in Sydney and Melbourne. The Nazis were smashed flat by a couple of Special Branch detectives after foolishly trying to intimidate the family of one police officer who’d been investigating them.

They’re still around, but their ranks tend to be bloated, literally, by a preponderance of fat, sad, middle aged losers without girlfriends, so you don’t find them on the party circuit where at least one of the most serious of the recent assaults took place. Nor were they likely to mug their victims for profit. The NA attacks of the 1980s were an underground, politically motivated hate campaign. But none of the same signifiers (posters, pamphlets, fire bombings etc) are present in these attacks…”

In which context, it’s also worth mentioning the fact that: 1. NA obtained new leadership — Michael De Brander — in 1991, following the gaoling of James Saleam — currently the leader of the Australia First Party (NSW Inc.). 2. NA opened a bookshop in the Melbourne suburb of Fawkner in January 1997; it closed in April 1998. 3. Australia First was founded in 1996 by former Labor MP Graeme Campbell. 4. Another major racist campaign of note was launched in WA by the Australian Nationalists Movement, under the leadership of Jack Van Tongeren. 5. A brief account of anti-/fascist activity in Melbourne during the 1990s is available here.

First, the real Magpies have routed the pretenders.

Pies belt Power

A NINE-GOAL third quarter has seen Collingwood dispose of Port Adelaide by 38 points at the MCG on Sunday evening. The Magpies, who trailed by six points at halftime, blew the Power away after the main break to rack up their fifth win for the season, 17.12 (114) to 11.10 (76). The result sees the Pies draw level with the Power on points with a 5-5 record, and keeps them in touch with the six other teams vying for a spot in the congested top eight…

Dane Swan: 48 possessions. ‘Reasonable’, says Mick:

“I don’t take much notice of stats,” Malthouse said. “Does he win Tattslotto with that? I thought he was OK. I didn’t think it was one of Dane’s greatest games, by any stretch of the imagination. I thought he had a reasonable game.” Malthouse was more impressed by the performances of Brad Dick — outstanding in his 10th senior match, contributing three goals and gathering 25 touches — the recycled Leigh Brown who was a strong target in attack and booted two majors, and Sharrod Wellingham.

Secondly, Indian students kick arse and take names:

Australian police break up Indian student protest
Michael Perry
June 1, 2009

SYDNEY, June 1 (Reuters) – Australian police broke up a sit-in protest by Indian students in Melbourne on Monday following a spate of attacks, as calls mounted for a wider probe into the country’s international student sector. Indian students say the attacks, which have left one student with serious injuries after being stabbed with a screwdriver, are racially motivated, but police say the attacks are both racial and opportunistic crime. “I think that some of the attacks are racially motivated,” said Victorian state police chief Simon Overland. “I think some of the attacks are opportunistic in that they just happen to be Indian students in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Overland told reporters on Monday. The attacks on Indian students in Melbourne escalated into a diplomatic issue last Friday, with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh telephoning Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to express his concern at the violence. Australia’s international student sector is the country’s third largest export earner, behind coal and iron ore, totalling A$13 billion ($10 billion) in 2007-08. Reports of some education operators forcing foreign students to live in cramped conditions and not delivering promised services have made Australian newspaper headlines this year…

Among those who’ve sought to make money from Indian students, in this case by providing sub-standard housing, is convicted criminal and former President of the Melbourne University Student Union Darren Ray.

The assault on American Indian tribal relationships…

The assault on American Indian tribal relationships

Whilst United States policy very early showed a disregard for the rights of Indian tribes, the avowed determination to destroy Indian tribal relations did not become the dominant theme until after the Civil War. Prior to that time, “Indian policy” moved in a three-phase cycle — massive treaty-breaking incursions by Americans on Indian lands; war; and then another “treaty” involving “cessions” of Indian lands — systematically repeated, until finally the Indians had been “ceded” into the confines of “reservations”.

The direct assault on tribal relations had been anticipated by half a century; in 1830 the Georgia state legislature nullified Indian tribal laws within the state’s boundaries. This legislation was condemned by its critics as an attack against “the entire social existence of the [Cherokee] tribe”. The exiling of thousands of the Cherokee people over the Trail of Tears in 1838 was justified on the grounds that “Common property and civilization cannot coexist”. In 1854 (the year of the passage of the Kansas-Nebraska “squatter sovereignty” law) the Omaha Indians “ceded” 10,000,000 acres of land to the United States in a “treaty” which, for the first time, provided for the breaking up of the tribe’s remaining lands into individual allotments. The treaty was hailed as giving hope that soon all Indian lands would be “thrown open to the Anglo-Saxon plough”.

To the extent that they were consulted in the matter, the Indians overwhelmingly rejected the “severalty” (individual ownership) option for cancelling tribal land rights. If, in the end, their wishes were ignored, it was not because the Indian point of view was not understood. As the ethnologist J.W. Powell of the Smithsonian Institution informed the United States Congress:

In Indian tribes individual or personal rights and clan rights are very carefully differentiated. The right to the soil, with many other rights, inheres in the clan. Indian morality consists chiefly in the recognition of clan rights; and crime in Indian society consists in the violation of these clan rights. In Indian society the greatest crime is the claim of an individual to land, and it is also a heinous sin against religion.

“Citizenship”, he concluded, “is incompatible with kinship society”.

By 1859, a general assault on tribal ownership of land was under way, which would become the central feature of United States “Indian policy” and its “civilizing mission”. The legislative culmination of that assault came with Congressional passage in 1887 of the Dawes General Allotment Act. Its purpose and rationale were articulated with drumfire consistency and remarkable clarity. In his 1859 annual report to Congress, US Indian Affairs Commissioner Charles E. Mix advocated converting reservation lands to individual allotments. Indian “possession of large bodies of land in common”, was the root of what Mix saw as “habits of indolence and profligacy”. A Congressman cited Mix’s report in arguing that “the first step to be taken” in the execution of Indian policy was in “uprooting the community of property system [and] … extinguishing or modifying the tribal relation”. In the course of the 1866 debate on relations with the Sioux, Representative Burleigh of Dakota recalled that, as United States Indian Agent there in 1862, he “did advocate the removal of the [Sioux] women and children with a view to wiping out the tribe”.

While the Paris Commune [1871] was yet within living memory, in the era of Haymarket [1886] and the robber barons, the destruction of tribal relations was polemically associated with the threat of socialism and communism. In the year the Second Socialist International was formed, Indian Commissioner T.J. Morgan showed, more than most socialists did, an instinctual grasp of the vital link between white supremacy and anti-socialism. “The Indians”, Morgan said, “must conform to ‘the white man’s ways’, peaceably if they will, forcibly if they must. The tribal relations should be broken up, socialism destroyed and the family and the autonomy of the individual substituted”. The year before, Commissioner Oberly had pointed out the great moral gulf fixed between the two societies, where “neither can say of all the acres of the tribe. ‘This is mine'”. With the allotment to individuals of Indian tribal lands, he theorized, the Indian would be able to emulate “the exalting egotism of American civilization, so that he will say ‘I’ instead of ‘We’, and ‘This is mine’, instead of ‘This is ours'”. If the Indians rejected this tutelage, he concluded, it should be forced on them, as it were, for their own good.
